Perfect if you'd like a little more room to stretch out, and are seeking private outdoor space.
This property is not a fit for those who:
- usually stay in a hotel
- dislike being on their own (including checking yourself in and out of the property)
- feel uncomfortable in a working class, city neighborhood
- find technology (logging onto WiFi, using TV remotes, keyless entry systems) to be a challenge
Full use of the upstairs apartment (less the second bedroom). Private entry to apartment.
Interaction with Guests
As soon as you make a reservation with me, you'll receive an email with info about parking, directions, and lots of additional info about the property.
Then - I'm pretty much hands off. My philosophy is a bit different from many hosts and is simply this: you are coming to Pittsburgh for a purpose: to attend a conference, go to a class, attend a wedding, sightsee, catch up w/ old friends. You're not here to hear me jibber jabber on the phone to you every day--you're here to enjoy yourself.
However, I am just a phone call or email away for any questions, specific needs, or if you require any assistance.
Are you looking for a walkable, authentic neighborhood close to everything? Welcome to Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's "Little Italy". The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli. The patrons chatter in Italian. It's a friendly, family-oriented, fun neighborhood. And you can be right in the middle of it.
The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet less than two blocks to a bustling street featuring with shops, restaurants, and bars. Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital are both 5 blocks away, and Shadyside Hospital is less than a mile away. In an urban, working class neighborhood.
If you drive, you have access to one parking spot. If you have extra cars, I can tell you about nearby spots where you can park your other vehicles.
Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.
You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.
Other Things to Note
I love this neighborhood! I live in Bloomfield, too, and would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, all with an eye to places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.
Please treat the apartment and its contents with respect, reporting anything that gets broken or damaged. Building is non-smoking. Sorry - furry friends have to stay home. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
Please make a reservation if the check in and check out dates are fixed, certain, and not subject to change. No refunds made for early departures.
My parents came to visit us here, and Julie was their host. She was a terrific host, and did everything she could to make my parents feel comfortable. She even agreed to make all kinds of changes in dates and period of stay in the last minute, which helped my parents quite a lot.
The apartment my parents stayed at was really well kept, and had all the necessary things to make them happy. Very nice deck too, where the view is beautiful.
Julie did a great job for us! Unfortunately we did not meet her. All works perfect. The appartement is really huge and the terrace gives a beautiful view to the cathedral of Learning. All was nice and clean and we can recommend that AirBnB for a longer stay and a party of up to five people.
Julie made us feel welcome by emails and with a welcoming note, and a guide to the house and area. The apartment was large, in a blue collar neighborhood close to attractions and restaurants. In fact, we walked the 1 1/2 miles to the Carnegie museums. We appreciated the use of a washer and dryer in the basement, along with provided detergent. The kitchen was adequately supplied with cookware, a gas stove, dishwasher, etc., and paper products based on the number of days that the guest is staying (1 coffee filter per day, 1 roll of toilet tissue, etc.) There was no food except salt, pepper, and paprika. We appreciated the use of a garage as well.
My third experience with airbnb. We booked only a few days in advance of our stay. Julie was quick to respond. Accommodations were exactly as described. Very clean and neat. We especially enjoyed the deck for mornings and evenings. We were approximately midway and a short car ride from the Strip and the Shadyside shopping district and an easy walk to a main street of Little Italy. The neighborhood was quiet and seemed safe. We would recommend to a friend and stay here again ourselves. We didn't use the second bedroom but the place would be easily comfortable for two couples or a family with children.
Great neighborhood. Easy to find. Clean and Expansive apartment space! All the amenities we needed were there. Julie was kind and respectful. We especially loved the rooftop porch!
