Enjoy perfect peace in the midst of Normandy's green fields! This is an old house - built at least 200 years ago - and though the Ikea kitchen is completely up to date, we have left the cottage with many original features. There are exposed oak beams in the upstairs ceilings and the 18-inch-thick stone walls upstairs have been lightly plastered but not covered over. Much of the furniture is vintage or antique, with a smattering of Ikea. We feel the contrast maintains the house's original character. This is rural France at its most idyllic and tranquil. Enjoy a glass of wine outside on the sunny terrace, admiring the roses and the flowering shrubs and listening to the sound of the breeze rustling in the poplars while the birds sing their heads off! And help yourself to the abundant fruits - raspberries, plums, wild strawberries, blackberries, according to their seasons. There's lots of green space for kids to run about in safely and gravelled parking for up to three cars.
Sleeps 4/6. 2 bedroom gite situated amid peaceful green fields in this lovely country area, on the border of Normandy and Brittany. Several glorious beaches are from 35 minutes away, and the famous Mont St Michel is only 12 miles. Many attractions are within easy reach.
I live next door and am always happy to chat to guests, answer questions, make suggestions for activities and help with problems.

We were really pleased with our too-short stay with Harriet in her older French farmhouse. Walking in was like walking into a period piece movie of a couple of centuries ago, with the eclectic furnishings and low ceiling beams upstairs in the bedrooms. My wife remarked that looking out the bedroom window was like looking into The Secret Garden. Harriet was very pleasant and helpful with recommendations and stories of the area, and good advice about which village to visit to obtain pastries and a grocery store open on Sunday. Our stay gave us a real feel for the French countryside outside town or village and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our family had a great stay in Harriet's lovely old cottage. The cottage was well equipped with all we could need and located very conveniently to Mont St Michel. A shame we had only a short time in the area as there was so much more to explore. There was a lovely boulangerie in the nearby town and it wasn't far to supermarkets. The St James market on Monday morning was great.
Our host was very helpful and there was plenty of advice in the cottage on things to do and places to go. The fresh eggs, bread and wine on arrival was just what we needed.
