Simply the most epic getaway in the redwood forest. This comfortable & spacious dome is located on a private campground with a campfire pit, a creek, and a garden. It's in a secluded mountain location, yet close enough to town for day trips to Santa Cruz or Monterey.

The space

Please read ALL the details in this listing (especially the "House Rules") before inquiring to book! If you are looking for a place to party, this is NOT the place for you. Adults enjoying drinks around the campfire is one thing, but loud, drunken parties that go late into the night are NOT allowed.

Offering 375 sq. ft. of floor space, this 22 ft. Geodome easily accommodates 4 people. It has a huge bay window overlooking a private meadow in the redwoods and a wood stove for heating. The dome is not the only thing unique about this lodging for it is located on a private campground complete with a campfire area, outdoor showers, nearby hiking trails, and more.

For sleeping there is a La-z-Boy double sleeper sofa that has an inflatable mattress, which means no metal bar under your back while you're sleeping! It's a high end inflatable mattress that feels like a real bed. There are also 2 single cots. We provide bedding for the sleeper sofa, but guests are required to bring bedding for the cots (we suggest a sleeping bag and pillow for these).

There is a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker with a stash of coffee and tea and basic kitchen supplies. There is also a two-burner propane stove with a few pots and pans outside the dome for guest use, propane is provided. There is fresh drinking water from our private well.

For your enjoyment, there is a collection of board games, a TV with a DVD player if you want to pick up a redbox or borrow from our collection of movies, a stereo with a docking station and a few musical instruments.
We also provide our guests with a guide to nearby hiking trails.

Guest access

Guests enjoy private use of the geodome and the surrounding campground, which includes an outdoor campfire pit. There is a 2-burner propane stove and a bare grill available for cooking over the fire. There are hot showers and a clean composting toilet just outside the dome.

Interaction with guests

The dome is located a short distance away from the main house on a 4.5 acre property. We live on the property and are often present during our guest's stay. We like to meet our guests and give them a brief orientation to make sure they are comfortable. We strive to provide privacy for our guests, but you may see us working in the nearby garden during the day.

Other things to note

Guests should come prepared to cook their meals in the microwave, on a propane stove, or on a grill over the fire. There are grocery stores nearby that offer prepared foods such as the Corralitos Market & Sausage Company and the Summit Store.

Guests are responsible for bringing firewood to use in the wood stove as well as for the outdoor fire pit. Artificial fire products such as Duraflame logs are prohibited in the wood stove but are acceptable in the outdoor campfire pit.

Limited internet service is available for messaging and emailing at an additional $10 per device.

Winter lodging....
It can get very chilly up here in the mountains during the winter. We recommend that you pick up at least two to three boxes of wood to keep the dome cozy through the night. During storms, we sometimes lose power, so check the local weather before booking to see what's in the forecast!

We expect our guests to take good care of the dome and leave it as they found it upon arrival.

We provide bedding for the sleeper sofa but guests will need to bring bedding to use on the sleeping cots.
We provide kindling for the indoor wood stove, but guests are required to bring firewood for the wood stove and also for the outdoor campfire.

The limit is 4 GUESTS. Any unapproved guests may be asked to leave. It is not ok to arrive and then invite more friends. (Our entire campground is listed under Camp Cruz Group Camp on HipCamp for groups of up to 20 people).
To be considered for pre-approval, please provide a profile with a picture and some information about who you are. We also really appreciate some information about your group and the nature of your visit. If you are new to Airbnb, this is especially important so we have an idea of who we are inviting into our home space.

Smoking is prohibited inside the dome. There is plenty of space outdoors for smoking, but we ask that you please dispose of your cigarette butts properly and not on the ground!

We have pets on the property and ask that guests who are traveling with pets, please check with us before making a reservation to determine if it will be a compatible arrangement. Our listing states "no pets" but with clear communication and a description of your pet, we might consider allowing it in certain situations.

I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my birthday but at the dome. The location is wonderful. The camp grounds are cool. The dome was very clean and comfortable. Beyond compare! Molly was a wonderful host. Thank you! The dome has everything and anything you can think of. We brought our own food, and the kitchen area had everything we needed to prepare a camp dinner. My favorite thing however was the wood stove oven! Right when we arrive, Molly came out and greeted us. There was a clearly labeled parking spot for us. She then walked us up to the Dome and showed us around. As soon as we step into the Dome, thunder cracked and it poured rain. It was perfect! I wanted to spend my birthday in nature (in something more than a tent), and the geodome provided just that. We lost power so all we had were the wood stove oven, a couple of pre-charged lanterns, and beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend checking out the Dome!

Our family enjoyed staying in the dome! The location was also great for sneaking away to the beach (about 30 min drive). Would definitely recommend to others.

Very cute place, we felt very welcomed. They had everything we needed for cooking including a grill, which we actually forgot to bring. We felt very accommodated for. They even had skewers to roast smores on. It was a little harder to get there than anticipated but the place was beautiful and fun

Sorry you had a hard time finding us. Wondering if you used the directions provided in the listing or GPS? There's a note in the directions we provide that warns against using GPS because they have our location wrong! That's usually the only time people get lost.

My husband and I were attending a weekend wedding at the Pema Osel Ling Retreat Center. We knew it was close, but had no idea it was just up the hill. We had a lot of activities for the wedding and being able to walk away from the "group" to our own private area was really nice. Molly was very understanding as we were delayed on our first day. Everything was just as the description stated....including no cell service. We wish we had more time to relax in the garden or make a bonfire. We look forward to making another trip with our kids in the future. We have already recommended it to ALL our coastal friends.

We are a community-oriented family of four. Ismael is a public school teacher. Molly is a massage therapist going to nursing school. We have two energetic fun loving boys that go to a bilingual charter school in Spanish and English. Our home, where the dome is located, is a private campground in the redwood forest. It is a beautiful and serene forest location with a creek. We like to read, do art, play music, work in the garden, go on hikes, socialize, and just play outside.
