The Woodpecker's Chalet is the perfect woodsy retreat with sunrise views of George Washington National Forest. The cabin is updated and fully equipped with everything you need for a cozy retreat in,, or the perfect landing spot to visit local wineries, hike, and explore the Shenandoah Valley!
We are dog friendly- happy to welcome you and your dog but do require an additional fee of 50$. At this time the only pets we allow are dogs.
The space
The cabin was updated in 2020 but renovated to embrace the charm of an old cabin with beautiful pine ceilings and lots of soul. You'll see original light fixtures and antiques and art sourced locally in the valley, as well as collected over the years from our travels. The spiral staircase and loft offer a bright and warm atmosphere to read a book or take in the scenery. The primary bedroom boasts a king bed and is located in the loft, while the second bedroom is on the main floor. A full bath and a half bath are located on the main floor.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and basic spices. We have a charcoal grill on the porch but ask you to bring your own charcoal.
The drive up to the cabin is about 3 miles on a gravel/dirt road. It is maintained but we highly recommend 4 wheel/all wheel drive. If you are visiting in the winter, all wheel drive will be mandatory to navigate if there is any inclement weather!
Guest access
Guests have full access to the cabin.
Other things to note
This is our personal cabin! We love to share it but we beg you to be respectful to both our space and neighbors so we can continue to share it. We hope its as much a respite for you as it is for us.
Wood deck to be replaced in spring of 2026!

From the host
We are in a small neighborhood of cabins tucked on the top of a ridgeline. While you may see other home owners out on a walk with their dogs, the cabins are far enough apart that everyone has their own piece of paradise!
