The Mission District is an inner-city mecca for artists, young urban professionals, and foodies. While walking through the neighborhood, you will pass tourists, families with strollers, bicyclers, joggers, beautifully preserved Edwardian and Victorian homes, and you will pass street murals. The neighborhood has a surprising cultural mix of different ethnic and economic backgrounds. Many areas are electrifying and hip, while other parts are quiet with hills and palm trees, and some areas are gritty/edgy. Collectively, this adds to the allure of the neighborhood. The Mission also generally has the clearest and warmest weather in San Francisco, a city with many microclimates.
With a Walkscore rating of 98, Mission Comfort is surrounded by numerous trendy bars, clothing stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Steps away, the Valencia and Mission corridors contain some of the most innovative and popular restaurants in San Francisco. The variety and quality are unsurpassed. However, should you choose to cook, there are many bodegas within a block to buy fresh produce. Dolores Park, which offers stunning views of the city skyline, and Mission San Francisco de Asis (also known as Mission Dolores), which is the namesake of both the city and the Mission District, are just a few blocks away. You will also be walking distance to the nearby Castro District nightlife.
Mission Comfort is one block from the 16th Street Mission BART (direct service to SFO and OAK airports) and a few blocks from the Muni J Metro, as well as buses that will take you around many spots in the city. Although a car is not needed, there is metered street parking, and the Hoff Street parking garage is available for a fee and within a block.
Whether you decide to stay at Mission Comfort or not, I welcome you to San Francisco. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Jose is the perfect host: Communicative, attentive to the smallest details & very welcoming. His space is very clean, tidy and I loved the decor. It is also very well located: 1 block from the 16th St Bart, not to mention all the great nearby restaurants @ Valencia Street. The neighbours in the condo are very polite and always greeted me with a smile. If I go to San Francisco again, I will surely stay @ Mission Comfort again. Keep it up Jose, you truly incorporate what Airbnb hosting is about: sharing the love!
Jose was easy to communicate with and made extra efforts to make sure we enjoyed our stay, even checking in on us a few times throughout via email or text. The apartment is on the smaller side if you have two people, but that's normal for SF and the space is used well. The kitchen, bathroom, and living area are all nicely stocked with most everything you'd need. The location is good for central access around the city -- close to the BART and Valencia St, which is a great strip to walk through. Mission St, which is also nearby, can be a little on the gritty side, but the apartment building and immediate surroundings always felt safe.
Jose is an excellent and very welcoming host! He was very helpful as our luggages got lost for two days by the airline.
The apartment is just beautiful and very clean. We felt at home from the very first day. The location is also great, just between Valencia St. and Mission St., with a big choice of restaurants, cafes, clubs and supermarkets. And still, the apartment is extremely quiet!
And the Bart train station is just around the corner, so you can get very quickly to downtown or anywhere else!
Definitely my choice number 1 for my next trip to San Francisco!
Thanks again Jose!
Jose was very welcoming and thoughtful. Small details that make a big difference: french press, towels, extra pillows, etc. His apartment is comfy and so well located! A must-see.
Jose's place was AMAZING!
It was exactly as it said online and more than we could have asked for. Immaculately clean and very well equiped; full kitchen for all our cooking needs and extra towels and bedding. Jose also had a lot of pamphlets and tourist guides available and was ready and able to answer all of the questions that we had before and during our stay.
The neighbour was AWESOME!
There's great shopping, super coffeehouses (Fourbarrel & The Mill were our favs), fantastic restaurants (Mission Chinese, Cancun Taqueria, Tartine Bar, Little Star Pizza), fun bars (Zietgeist & Casanova) and just an all around cool vibe to the Mission. Very convienently located a 1min walk away from the 16th/Mission BART station, Jose even came to pick us up (on a Saturday night!) from the station to take us over and give us a tour of the apartment and answer any questions we had regarding our plans for the week. The location is so easy to walk around to the different neighbourhoods from; we walked Market to the Ferry Building, to Alamo Square, to Hayes Valley and even to Golden Gate Park. There is an Enterprise car rental place at Mission & Van Ness if you decide to rent a car for the day (or 2), which we did and then drove down the coast - they were also super helpful there as well.
We would recommend taking a walk to Tartine for Sandwiches or Bi-Rite for ice cream and having a little picnic in Mission Dolores Park on a sunny afternoon. There is also a Pilates studio right across the street (Core Pilates), there are some great classes there if you are into that :)
This was our first time in SF and we will definitely be coming back and will always stay at Jose's place.
We recommend his place to anyone visiting San Francisco! It was an amazing vacation for us and we truly love to stay in a city and 'do what the locals do'. We experienced great hospitality, culture and food and it was all at our doorstep :)
Thanks for the great time Jose and SF!
Had a great time at the location. Jose was super nice, helpful, and accommodating. Communication was excellent, even so far as to check-in with me by text during the stay to make sure everything was okay.
The place is very charming. Lots of sunlight, well-decorated. Didn't think I'd use the TV, but Netflix access was perfect for the couple of exhausted "rest up" hours before dinner/bars. Very nice use of a small space, such that I never felt space was lacking. I'm not generally a fan of Murphy (wall) beds, but this one was very comfortable. As soundproof as any place I've ever stayed in San Francisco (including hotels), which is to say not very. The kitchen is beautiful and the attention to small details make this a very enjoyable stay.
Ideally located for exploring the Mission's great restaurants and bars. Mission might be a little sketchy for some, but Valencia might be hipster overload for others...take your pick. Walked to Dolores Park, Castro, Hayes Valley, SoMA, even back from Golden Gate Park one evening. Otherwise, transit was really easy to take you to the city's other attractions.
I'd fully recommend this place, as well as stay here again. Thanks, Jose, for an excellent stay!
jose es amable, riguroso y confiable. el departamento exquisito y super equipado, en un edificio cuidado y silencioso. volveriamos a alojarnos siempre ahi en San Francisco, y lo recomendamos a nuestros amigos.
Jose's apartment was perfect for our first trip to San Francisco. He kindly met us at the BART station and showed us round the apartment when we arrived. It is clean, bright and modern and very well thought out for a small condo. The bed was comfortable and easy to fold away, the shower consistently good and the kitchen well-equipped. It was great to catch up on some American shows on Netflix too.
Getting around is easy as the 16th Street BART station is one block away. Valencia Street is also only one block and a great place to start exploring and to get breakfast or lunch. Overall we would definitely recommend Mission Comfort. Thanks for having us!
Jose's flat was the perfect size for us. Everything was so well thought out and super clean. The pull down bed was really comfy! Jose was great at communication and kindly met us at the BART station to check us in.
After the first day we thought we had booked the wrong part of the Mission but we quickly learnt that if you avoid Mission street (except to go to some of the really restaurants there) and go up to Valencia instead it was a good location. Buses and trains are nearby so it is super easy to get to other parts of San Fran. We enjoyed walking to Dolores Park for lazy sunny afternoons!
Excellent all round - great communication, apartment was immaculate, well-equipped, just as advertised, and in one of the best possible SF locations.
