The Space

This handsome 100 year-old single-family house with 10+ foot ceilings, stained glass windows, fireplace and modern furnishings has two spotless bedrooms available (see also Cozy nest in great Boston space I). Beautifully landscaped backyard with fire pit and vegetable garden (email hidden) to relax at the end of the day.

Large sunny spotless room with double futon, private deck, large closet and shared bathroom. Wifi, work table, clean linen and towels.

On a beautiful street in the most coveted section of the hip Jamaica Plain (JP) neighborhood of Boston, we’re just 5 miles from the city center and only blocks away from the Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Pond and JP Centre. Safe, friendly, diverse neighborhood. Great restaurants, pubs, bakeries, galleries and shops.

We’re just a 10-minute walk to the Orange line subway into Back Bay/Newbury Street and downtown. A 2-minute walk to the bus to Longwood Medical area and museums. Plenty of parking and many nearby Zipcar locations. Off-street parking is also available. Laundry in basement.

Light breakfast of coffee, tea, juice, yogurt and granola or hard-boiled eggs provided.

Native Bostonian host happily provides history, recommendations, advice, maps, directions and more. Friendly house cat with short-hair and a loud purr will shack up with you if you leave your door open. We’ve hosted medical people from Argentina to Taiwan and travelers from Australia to Egypt.

Stay for 2 nites or two months – we’re flexible ... and looking forward to seeing you!

  • Maria was a great hostess! She had breakfast and coffee ready for us every morning to start off the day. Her house is beautiful and in a great neighbourhood of Boston. One of the things that I appreciated most about my stay was that I likely would not have visited Jamaica Plain had it not been for this booking. The house is in such a neat part of town. There are great restaurants nearby and a delicious ice cream shop. My boyfriend and I used the nearby bike stations to travel downtown on a daily basis, which was only a 5 mile bike ride. The subway station is also a ten minute walk from Maria's home. Maria was respectful of our privacy and very easy to talk to. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it!

  • A wonderful house and great spacious room in a nice quiet neighborhood of Boston within easy access to downtown. Maria (email hidden), happy to help but also gave us the privacy we needed to relax and take it easy. Her home is beautiful and the family (and amazing cat) all very kind and courteous. I highly recommend the room to anyone looking (email hidden) to stay in Boston. You have the top floor to yourselves, with a large clean bedroom and modern clean bathroom with a large shower. Lot's of privacy but easy access to the rest of the house, large kitchen, and great views of the surrounding nature. Also, it being an easy bus ride to the MFA makes it an ideal location for art lovers. All in all I had a great stay and found Maria to be an incredibly kind and helpful host.

  • Maria's beautiful home was a perfect transition into the the city of Boston. She (email hidden) and a joy to talk to. If you need a place to stay in Boston, Maria will offer you a comfortable room and a great Airbnb experience. Defintely look her up. The location is great as well. Thanks Maria!

  • Maria has a lovely home in Jamaica Plain. We were on the 3rd floor, in a lovely sized room with a (not directly but nearly adjoining) well sized private bath. The house is 2 minutes from the bus stops on Centre St. and about 15min from the orange line. While staying with Maria, we (myself and partner) were on ridiculous schedules which had us out early and back late. Maria made sure we had access to everything we needed and was very welcoming in spite of our infrequent presence.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Boston, I can't recommend this location highly enough. It's both quiet and convenient. It's a quick walk to central Jamaica Plain and the Pond as part of the greenway. It's only an hour's walk to Longwood (or a 15 min bus ride) and it's an hour to the airport on MTBA. Maria keeps a lovely house and is an absolute pleasure to meet.

  • Maria is a very friendly and accommodating host. We did not see much of Maria because she was out much and we had a busy schedule visiting family. Her house is located in a fantastic neighborhood with easy access to the T and to Center Street. Since we drove to Boston, we were happy to know parking our car right in front of the house was no problem. The room was quiet and comfortable, and the private bathroom was especially nice.

  • We didn't see much of Maria, but she still managed to make us feel very welcome, leaving us a simple but delicious breakfast each morning. The house is lovely, the bedroom is large and very cosy, the shower in the private bathroom is a delight! Lots of useful information on Boston in the room for guests. Buses, metro and cycle hire all very close so travelling around the city is very easy. There was ample street parking outside for our car, and many lovely restaurants near by for dinner. Highly recommended.

  • Maria was a very warm and friendly host. We stayed a total of 3 nights and enjoyed a simple but tasty breakfast every morning.
We were able to park our car on the street in front of the house, and travelled in and out of Boston using the nearby metro (10-15 min walk).
The room itself was clean and comfortable (big!) and it was fantastic having the top floor with the bathroom all to ourselves. This is a great option for those comfortable commuting into Boston from a lovely suburb.

    Response from Maria:

Thanks for your lovely review, Lauren. I just want to note that Jamaica Plain is one of Boston's neighborhoods, not a suburb. To an urban denizen like yourself it might feel like a suburb; while to someone from the country or the suburbs it more likely feels urban. ;)
