About This Listing
This bright spacious room boasts a comfy full size bed and writing desk. In a rad neighborhood in Chicago, and on the ground level of the building is an amazing coffee shop, perfect to start the day!
Private room with a full sized bed in a sunny apartment on a residential street in the Buena Park section of Uptown. It's a large 4 bedroom apt. on the 3rd floor, with 1 1/2 baths. The kitchen is neither small nor big, but full of everything you might need to cook a feast!
Guests should feel completely at home at our place - cooking, hanging out, relaxing in the living room, etc. I am mostly a "hands-off" host, meaning I can provide the tools and insights to see the city, but I leave the explorations up to the guest. Occasionally my guests and I make plans to sightsee or I will offer to take them to "secret" local spots off the beaten path, but generally I find myself giving privacy to the guests.
There's a great coffeeshop, a pizza joint, and a small grocery on the first floor of the building. Located in one of the more diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, there's tons of shopping, bars, restaurants and music venues within walking distance. We even have a wikipedia page! (website hidden)
I live with one other roommate - we're both twenty-something females, very relaxed, down-to-earth, and easy to get along with. Come stay with us!

**Recently added is Chicago's new bike sharing system - Divvy bikes. There is a station directly outside my door, and 24 hour rentals are $7. There are Divvy bike stations every couple of blocks all over the city, making biking to and from my place very accessible.
There is free street parking available during the day on weekdays. On the weekends and in the evenings it is fairly difficult to find a space. However, located half a block away there is a parking lot that always has available spaces. it costs $12 for 12 hours, or $20 for 24 hours.
Shared kitchen, free wifi, common dining room, and 1.5 shared bathrooms.
Interaction with Guests
I'm not around very often, but when I am I'm happy to chat and give advice on where to go and how to get there. Otherwise, I'm pretty hands off, and appreciate guests who appreciate that this is meant to be a peaceful, low key kind of place to stay.
I love my neighborhood because although its so close to the hustle and bustle neighborhood of uptown, it's tucked away just enough to feel extremely welcoming and homey. Plus, we are super close to everything you might need or want. Coffee, bars, food, transportation.. It's all right there a short walk away!
We are walking distance to the red line train, which gets you right downtown as well as to other great Chicago neighborhoods. We're also an even shorter walk to major bus lines that also come in handy, although the train is usually your go to option.
I just ask that you generally be a respectful, decent person. This apartment is meant to be a quiet haven for travelers, so no unannounced guests are allowed. Also, while I'm perfectly willing to share a beer with you if we cross paths, this is not a party house or anything like that. The most essential rule, so to speak, is to simply keep the peace.
The room was great! Peter was very accommodating when I had to check in and out at weird times. The bed was cozy, the sheets were fresh, and the hosts were gracious. It had everything I could have asked for.
Peter was not home when I reached however he left the keys at the cafe downstairs. Their home was very neat and clean and the room looks exactly the way it is in the pictures. Peter was very quick at responding to my text messages while I was enroute from Toronto to Chicago.Since I was travelling all by myself, I was slightly nervous at the beginning as he mentioned that Katie wouldn't be home but when I got to their place, I felt pretty comfortable. It's a nice, quiet place and Peter is very quiet too. He only talks if you talk to him - which is nice! He gives you all your space. The neighbourhood is well connected with buses. Bus # 146 takes you right into downtown - really easy to get by and around.
The room was as the description said, light and clean, the apartment was situated in Uptown, close to the lake, main buses and 10 min walking from the redline metro. Two toilets are available and one shared bathroom. All in all, perfect stay and very nice hosts.
Great location, just a short walk from the Sheridan L station and has an amazing little coffee shop underneath it. Peter was great, he helped us find a free parking for the weekend. It was our first Airbnb experience, and after it I'm confident to continue using Airbnb wherever I go, and would love to stay here again next time we're in Chicago
I spent around a week in peter's place and tif was nice to guide everything and cozy~
Peter was great about getting me a key even though my commute from the airport took longer than expected. The room was as pictured and very very warm! The bed was super comfortable and I had everything that I needed. The apartment is older and so the radiator can be heard through the night but this wasn't a big deal, given I'd rather be warm.
All in all a great first experience for me!

About the Host, Katie And Peter
Sometimes, I like lists.
- Born and raised in Chicago. I've left my city many times for periods of time but always come back, I love it!
- I'm a do-it-yourself Kind of person. You name it - grow it, cook it, create it, fix it... I like doing work with my hands
- Travel style? Always try to do it on the cheap, but most importantly in ways that will lead me to long hangouts with people from the place I'm visiting. Love talking with people, hearing stories and other perspectives... I've travelled mostly in southeast Asia, but also have spent quality time in France, Morocco, and Nepal.
-Love the local music spots in Chicago for Indie bands and beyond.
Hosting Style? Both Katie and I provide all the basics for you to feel at home, just trying to provide a relaxing space where my guests can feel comfortable and cozy. Peter will be coordinating with guests more than Katie in the coming months, but rest assured he has managed airbnb rooms for years as well! I really enjoy it when guests feel like they have a place where they can feel at home, no matter the length of the stay. Understanding that this is a shared living space, I strive for a mutual understanding of respecting everyone's privacy. If time allows for both parties, I can definitely be down to take guests out and about, showing them the best hole-in-the-wall spots to eat, drink, see architectural treasures, parks, beaches, etc. I grew up in Chicago and love showing my city off when I get the chance to.
