The Space

Welcome to our Capitol Hill Guest House, a light-filled relaxing oasis just blocks from the U.S. Capitol building and all the exciting sites in our nation's capital. Three bedrooms plus a loft, two full bathrooms, powder room, full kitchen, patio garden and grill area, entertainment space in loft, and much more awaits you!

Use your key code access and enter into a beautiful first-floor sitting room, a powder room, and a large dining room. The dining room is adjacent to a full size kitchen that leads to a brick patio with a grill and seating area. The kitchen has everything you need: a full-size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, coffee machines, and washer and dryer. We've stocked the kitchen with dishes, glasses, silverware, and cooking utensils to serve 12 people. You'll also find breakfast items (coffee, milk, cereal, etc) and cooking essentials (olive oil, salt and pepper, etc).

The stairs lead to the second floor with two bedrooms. The second-floor front bedroom has a queen-size bed, 32" TV, closet and wash sink. The second-floor master bedroom has a king-size bed, 32" TV, closet, and an en-suite bathroom with a large shower.

Continue up the stairs to the light-filled, open-plan third floor with one queen bed separated off toward the rear of the house, an entertainment space under the loft bedroom toward the front. The entertainment space has a 47" TV. Take the stairs up to the loft space with an additional queen size bed. The third floor has a full size bathroom with two sinks and a bathtub with a rain shower. A queen size air mattress is available for use upon request.

All TVs have DirectTV and the house has wireless Internet.

No need to drive, the metro is half a block away and UBER can take you door to door wherever you'd like to go! If you do drive, we can provide you with a permit to park on the street.

  • Wow! What a beautiful home in an amazing location on Capitol Hill. Everything that we needed was well provided for...well stocked kitchen, tons of high quality towels, lots of maps and sight seeing brochures...and even milk in the fridge! The decor of the house is so lovely. We didn't want to leave...and can't wait to come back and stay again! Thank you so much Matt and Jean for allowing us to stay in this beautiful house and for taking such good care of us during our stay!

  • Capital Hill Guest House was a perfect match for our five night stay with 2 parents and 2 college age children. The location is a very easy walk (even in D.C. summer heat/humidity!) from a Metro stop and walking distance to The Capitol Building and surrounding government landmarks as well as good restaurants, bars, and points of interest (Eastern Market is a must).
Matt and Jean are gracious hosts who think of everything. The house is clean, soothingly decorated and has full kitchen/cooking capability (including outdoor BBQ), as well as very comfortable beds/linens. The special touches that the hosts provide like breakfast foods ready for the first morning, "locals" advice on what to do and where to go, and very responsive communications if questions arise are invaluable to visitors.
We had a great time and continually felt well taken care of by Matt and Jean. An unconditional 5 star recommendation!

  • We had no idea this home would be so perfect. It was stunning. The home was so close to everything we could walk. A block from the metro, a couple blocks to great restaurants and your recomendations were awesome. Loved the Italien one with 1/2 price wine on Sunday and Tuesdays.

  • We (5 women) rented the Capitol Hill Guest House in late September 2013 for 5 nights. Communication with the owners, Matt and Jean, was a breeze. They always answered my questions quickly. The house is in a great location within walking distance of the Capitol (15 minutes at the most) and only about a half a block walk to the Capitol South metro from the house. The metro was a life saver for us since we didn't have a car. Since Matt and Jean stocked the refrigerator for us, we never had to go grocery shopping for our breakfast needs. We really appreciated that special touch. All the women loved the style and cleanliness of the home. It was fantastic coming back to the house after a long day of sightseeing. I would not hesitate recommending the Capitol Hill Guest House. It was the perfect place for our girl's getaway.

  • Very nice home; no complaints at all. House is as it appears in the photos. Very good, safe location on a quiet street, just 2 blocks from the Capitol and one block to the subway. Banks, restaurants, bars, grocery, bakery and gas station are all located within 3-4 blocks. Our extended family of 5 adults and 3 children all comfortably fit on the 5 beds and 1 blow-up mattress. House was clean, light switches labeled, enough cutlery and dishes to entertain 12. Plenty of towels and blankets. The house made for a great DC vacation. September 2013

  • My sincere thanks to Matt and Jean for the outstanding experience that was had by my client. I arranged for my top client to stay with her family at their home and it was completely over the top. The service before and during their stay was exceptional. The house was totally cleaned and ready for their arrival. Matt and Jean were always there to answer any questions and could not have been any nicer. They are a class act and it you are looking for a super place to stay in Washington DC, this is your place. Everything that you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. Thank you very much for taking such great care of my client. Best of luck to you guys.

I can heartily recommend Matt and Jean as AirBnB hosts.

  • We traveled to Washington DC with our two children and my parents. The house was perfect and there was plenty of room for all of us. Jean and Matt have furnished the place very well and you feel right at home the minute you walk in! The welcome basket was lovely and the possibility to do laundry most appreciated as we were on an east coast road trip. The location is close to the metro and some restaurants. We can recommend the Thai restaurant with free delivery (one downside is the house is so comfortable you prefer not to leave). Thank you Jean and Matt for such a memorable trip to DC.

About
Hi AirBnB-ers! My husband and I own two rowhouse in historic Capitol Hill, a neighborhood we’ve been living in for over eight years. We’ve been AirBnB hosts since January 2010 and have loved getting to know people from all over the country and the world! We just finished renovating the Capitol Hill Guest House and are tackling renovations on some of the other units - so keep your eye out for more property listings to come. When we're all done with renovations on all of the houses, we'll live in the Capitol Hill Guest House - it is a beautiful space and the location is fabulous! My husband, Matt, is a writer and I work as an engineer. We both work nearby and LOVE living so close to everything in the city! We enjoy traveling and big adventures, which is why we appreciate how great it is to have a nice, clean place to come home to when you're exploring a new city! We also have tons of information on great things to see, do, and places to eat! From the Cherry Blossoms, to Mt. Vernon, to the Marine Corps Marathon, we've done it all! We really want to make sure you have a great stay with us and in DC, so let us know if there's something special that we can do to make sure everything is perfect! Hope to hear from you soon! Best Regards, Jean and Matt
