We are 8 women who get together annually for a "girls weekend" . Matt and Jean's place couldn't have been more accommodating for our group. Beds were great, plenty of towels, plenty of space for us to spread out. The home is beautifully appointed with comfortable furnishings. We appreciated the nice touches of fresh plants, flowers and candy. Our hosts were gracious to leave us some breakfast supplies, coffee, and a bottle of wine to get us started. The patio is smaller than we expected and wasn't able to set outside. Although the view of the patio from the first floor is quite beautiful. The location can't be beat! We walked everywhere....to the Mall; participated in the Capitol Hill House and Garden tour that was available the weekend we visited. ....loved Eastern Market which has fabulous craft vendors on Saturday and Sunday; and great restaurants within walking distance of the house. Also used the Metro which is just steps around the corner. Matt and Jean were very responsive to our requests and are very accommodating. One of our friends had a late flight and she was able to stay a bit longer than the check out time (only because the house wasn't going to be immediately occupied after our departure). Some of us drove and Matt arranged for parking permits and had no trouble parking on the street. This is a very friendly neighborhood....you won't be disappointed!
jean and matt were exceptional hosts. we felt truly welcome in their house and appreciate all their effort to make our stay comfortable and care free.
the house is in a historic neighborhood just a few blocks from the capitol. the mall and many of the great museums are within easy walking distance. the neighborhood also has some nice restaurants and cafes.
the house is extremely comfortable and has an interesting, eclectic decor which we liked a lot. the kitchen is well stocked with tableware and utensils and everything is in good working order. the beds were very comfy and the showers had good pressure and heat.
the most thoughtful touch were the basic provisions that matt and jean had left for us in the kitchen- milk, juice, coffee and more. really very nice to arrive and see this after traveling all day. it saved us having to figure out where to go shopping when we arrived.
matt and jean have really thought through the experience of staying in an unfamiliar place and bent over back wards to make it easy- such as labeling all of the light switches so that you know which switch does what light. genius.
We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at Matt’s and Jean’s townhome in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which matched the photos and descriptions in the listing. Our family of two adults and two early-teen children arrived to a clean and comforting home, pleasantly surprised not only to find a kitchen fully stocked with all cooking and serving utensils, spices, and oils, but also replete with coffee, tea, breakfast items, and a bottle of wine. Matt and Jean delivered on the promise to secure us a parking pass for our stay, and we easily parked our car on the street right in front of the house. The attention to detail did not stop there, though; Matt and Jean clearly anticipated our needs in every room and bathroom, each decorated with interesting items appropriate to historical Washington while at the same time allowing us to enjoy all the modern conveniences one might expect. The location is wonderful for anyone looking to explore the nation’s historical sites and institutions; only a few blocks’ walk to the Capitol and the Supreme Court, and a stone’s throw from the Capitol South metro station, all of D.C. is at your fingertips – and in a delightful family-centric neighborhood where it is safe and convenient to walk to delicious dinners along Pennsylvania Avenue. Matt and Jean made themselves available should we have needed them, but of course we didn’t – they already had thought of everything we might have needed! We almost wondered if Matt and Jean had served up the wonderful weather we experienced while in the District ….
Awesome place and location. Very near capital building. Matt and Jean responded quickly to my short notice request and had everything ready. Truly felt more like a bed and breakfast experience (even though our group was there for work).
We really enjoyed our stay at the Capitol Hill guest house. It was beautifully furnished and very welcoming - perfect for our family of five. We were also most impressed with the breakfast items & wine left for us to enjoy. Its location close to the Capitol and the Metro made it easy for us to explore DC and the local restaurant recommendations made our dining experiences memorable. Finally, the host were most accommodating allowing us to leave our bags in the house after the formal check out time - which helped us make the most of our last day. Thank you Matt & Jean.
The hardest part of our stay in DC was having to leave Matt and Jean's beautiful air BnB! This spacious house had every amenity and was tastefully decorated. The location in a great neighborhood, only a block from the Metro and a few blocks to the capitol, gave us easy access to all the sites we wanted to see while in DC.
Our whole family was delighted with the place-and that includes three generations, from grandmother .... to grandson!
Matt and Jean were quick to respond to any questions we had for them. When our plans changed (early arrival and extra car) they were flexible and kind in their responses. Our stay was perfect. Aside from the beautifully maintained home, Matt and Jean made sure to include the little touches that make the difference. They went beyond our expectations with wine, light groceries, and bath robes. In addition to the wonderful accommodations, the location was extremely convenient. We highly recommend staying in their home.

About the Host, Matt And Jean
We love big adventures and unique experiences (we climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro for our honeymoon!) which is why we appreciate how great it is to have a private and luxurious place to call home to when you're exploring a new city! We often travel with groups of friends or extended family, and know that it is hard to find a place that fits everyone. We started renting our Capitol Hill rowhouse which fits large groups because we thought other families and groups may enjoy being able to spend time together exploring cities - it's kind of like when you rent a big house at the beach, only you are in the heart of the city!
We’ve been AirBnB hosts for almost 5 years and have loved making sure our guests have the best vacation experience ever! We have tons of information on great things to see, do, and places to eat! From the Cherry Blossoms, to Mt. Vernon, to the Marine Corps Marathon, we've done it all! We really want to make sure you have a great stay with us and in DC, so let us know if there's something special that we can do to make sure everything is perfect!
