Fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment in the East Village, with a futon in the living room for more sleeping space if needed. This is a full apartment, with the large room containing a queen sized bed, plus computer desk and tons of closet space and a ton of dressers for clothing, and the smaller bedroom has a full size bed, dresser and closet. You'll have full use of the kitchen, with a working stove, full fridge, microwave, and dishes and cooking utensils here, plus the bathroom, and the living room, with a coffee table and the futon, so you have a place to sit if you want to stay in and watch tv, or it can be used as more sleeping space. Cable TV and wireless interent access included.
The apartment is less than 7 minutes walk from 4 major subway lines, plus surrounded by tons of restaurants, bars, nightlife, and live music venues. This area is perfect for both getting around during the day AND enjoying the best of NYC at night. 15 minute walk to Union Square, just one block to Tompkins Square Park, and less than 10 minutes by subway to Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central Station, Penn Station, Ground Zero, City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Towels, sheets, and blankets are, of course, included, (and I have a spare umbrella if the weather gets unexpectedly nasty while you are here.) I live a few blocks away, and work from home during the day - so check in is very flexible, I'll be glad to give you a virtual tour of the area when you check in, and I'm always a phone call or email away to help you figure out where to go, what to see, and the best places to eat, drink, explore, and enjoy.
Looking forward to hosting you!
Sam's apartment in East Village was just as described and as other reveiwers have already stated Sam is terrific host. He had no problem waiting up for us when didn't arrive until after midnight .He thought of everything and left us subway maps, guide books and even a few umbrellas .He responded very quickly to any query we had which was much appreciated.
The apartment's location is excellent right in the heart of East Village. Walk a block in any direction and you will find great cafes ,Retro thrift shops and restaurants (try the Peruvian one on 1st Ave ).There are a few grocery stores very close by which while a little expensive provided the basics for breakfast.
To be honest the apartment was a little cramped for 5 adults for 9 days, as since, one was sleeping on the sofa bed there was really no living space BUT this wouldn't have been an issue IF illness hadn't meant we spent more time there than planned .I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sam's apartment to others as an affordable basic place to stay in New York
We spent a week at Sam´s apartment. We are six and although the apartment is not big we found it very couzy. It´s location is excellent.
Sam was very kind with us from the very first moment, he was already there waiting for us when we arrived, very helpful with his advice and gave us a lot of useful tips for our stay.
The price for value relation is excellent. We´ll sure recommend this options to our friends visiting NYC!.
We stayed at Sams apartment for six days and everything
went without a hiccup . There was six adults staying in
the apartment and although it is small ( probably not but ny
standards) we managed very well
Sam was an exceptionally helpful and understanding host
Always available for contact via phone or email and very prompt
in his responses . He was great with info for
anything from eating to metro travel and he made our stay
in NYC such an enjoyable experience
I would thoroughly recommend dealing with Sam at any time
and would stay there again if we go back to NYC
Three of us stayed in this apartment for about a week. Sam was a great host, and met us at the apartment although we arrived around midnight. He gave us a tour of the apartment, provided plenty of sheets and towels and even gave us useful tips for the city. Ask him anything. He can easily become the host of New York city travellogue!
During our trip, Sam dropped us a couple of emails to check in on us and find out how we're doing. He didn't have to do that, but it was thoughtful and we appreciated it.
The apartment is in a great neighbourhood, and is well connected to different subway lines. We had no problem getting around. And if you're going to stay here, you NEED to check out the ridiculously good coffee just downstairs (and the lobster roll somewhere nearby). There are a couple of convenience stores nearby, bars across the road, and plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops.
The rooms are compact but cosy. Although a little tight for those who are used to having a lot of space to maneuver in, it's just the right size for a group of friends to sit around the TV. The bathroom is, admittedly, really tiny, so don't expect to take long, luxurious showers. A snowstorm hit when we stayed at the apartment, but the radiators worked hard to keep us warm. The spare room doesn't have a radiator, and the cold crept in through the window. So be prepared to bundle up if you're sleeping there.
All in all, this apartment is a great deal in terms of pricing, location and experience. Better than staying in a hotel, and definitely an experience worth going back to.
Sam is very trustworthy and helpful.
So much communication in advance that we became very sure it wasn't a scam and felt secure.
Awesome help at arrival where we were able to get our baggage store before the former guest had checked out. Made it possible for us to go and see Guggenheim our first day in NYC.
A little notion is that the kitchen is a short on equipment, but the apartment is located in an area with a lot of restaurants with good and cheap food, so no biggies...
Thanks a lot for a good vacation!
This is the perfect East Village apartment. It is small and natty, but quite comfortable for a grown up family of four. The building is quirky and old and couldn't be in a better spot. Food and transport are right on the doorstep. There are lots of very wonderful places to eat, you are spoiled for choice whatever budget you are working to. We liked 7a and Katz, Stromboli for pizza and Below 40 for a culinary treat. This particular area is a real neighbourhood with community gardens scattered all around, a buzzy friendly atmosphere on the streets and the Charlie Parker residence just a step away.
Sam is the perfect host for this apartment. He obviously loves the neighbourhood and enjoys meeting his guests. He is always happy to help and meet up and sort out little glitches or offer advice.. He was very happy to offer my daughter a list of good record shops for example.
The apartment is simply furnished with. All the basics that you could possibly need. There is air conditioning and the heating was very welcome while we were visiting in (website hidden) and wifi a lot of hot water. The bedding and towels were clean and plentiful and the apartment had obviously been cleaned in readiness for us.
If you want somewhere swanky and impersonal, forget this. If you want to feel welcome in a creative buzzy charismatic neighbourhood, then this could not be a better spot for you.
My 4 friends and I stayed at Sams over NYE this year and had a great time! Location was ideal in centre of East village, few blocks away from 2 subway lines. Apartment was cosy and felt like home. Only issue was with the shower being very temperamental and not much pressure but Sam had organised to have it fixed in next few days. Overall was a great stay and would recommend it! Thanks Sam
We stayed in Sam's apartment ín the East Village for 6 nights in late December 2013. From the first contact and then consistently, Sam was prompt in responding, very informative and very engaging in a generous and good humoured way - he helped make our stay quite memorable. He was provided much more than just an apartment!
The apartment is very well located with close public transport (subway and buses) and is in an interesting and lively part of the East Village with easy access to cafes, shops (and a great coffee shop 3 doors away!). Despite the interesting and lively neighbourhood, the apartment is very quiet because it faces an internal courtyard and is on the second level of the building.
Other guests have commented about some physical aspects of the apartment - especially the bathroom which is undoubtably very small - but, it works well enough!
The apartment is accurately portrayed on the website - it isn't fancy..it has an eclectic mixture of furniture and fittings. The cable TV and Wifi internet worked very well. It is essentially good basic accommodation in a great area and with an excellent host.
We would recommend it!
Sam was very accommodating about the fact that we were all arriving at different times. He met with the first group and got them squared away and was quick to answer any questions/concerns before we even arrived.
The apartment was smaller than expected (there were 6 of us, with some of us arriving from abroad, so there wasn't much room for luggage) and a bit outdated, but its location got top marks: excellent location near several subway/train lines, all within at least 2 blocks, which made it very convenient to get to different places in Manhattan. Walking back from dinner, whether it was at one of the many great restaurants in the area or from further afield, was also really easy when we were in the mood to do so.
The only problem we had was the fact that the heat cut out after the first night, but we were lucky that the weather was mild and we didn't mind snuggling up to each other for warmth.
Great location for anyone wanting to visit the city for a few days!
Four of us stayed in Sam's apartment for 10 days. Both Sam and the apartment were great! Awesome location and Sam was very helpful in providing local recommendations. Sam was very friendly and great with communication. We also really appreciated his flexibility with check in and check out times, he had no problems checking us in late at night and we were able to leave our bags in the apartment on the last day even after the next guests had arrived. We will definitely try to stay with Sam next time we're in NYC!
