The Space

The guest unit is attached to my home with a separate private entrance. The 305 square feet of space includes a furnished kitchenette, regular size bathroom with shower, a Queen size bed and a nice sofa sleeper (also Queen size). Located on 5 wooded acres, just 3/4 of a mile off of Highway 101 and situated 5 miles east of Port Angeles and 7 miles west of Sequim, WA. Victoria B.C. and Butchart Gardens are a ferry ride away across the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the MV Coho.

Have you ever explored the Olympic Peninsula?

Sequim is known as the Lavendar capital of the United States and home of the Lavendar Festval. The festival happens in July and is the annual summer celebration featuring tours and fairs of all the lavendar farms on the Olympic Peninsula. The best time of year here is summertime. Fresh air, green trees and flowers everywhere. The Olympic Discovery Bike Trail is filled with spectacular sights for biking. Hurricane Ridge and Crescent Lake are also big attractions.

Convenient to the world famous Olympic National Park and a plethora of day trips exploring the rain forest and waterfalls that make the Pacific NorthWest famous. Come and experience the healing power of a walk in the woods.

I can help with ideas for day hiking trips and sites or perhaps you would rather just stay at the guest unit. You are welcome to enjoy Two Acre pond, our tranquil backyard forest retreat where you can sit quietly and meditate or sit on the back deck overlooking the pond and read a book on a sunny day.

While there is no phone or tv in the guest space, there is Wi-Fi capability. The only sounds you should hear will be frogs singing on the pond out back.

I am happy to provide emergency and contact service for you if you wish. Please let me know if you need to do so.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the guest unit and its front porch, beautiful on a sunny day. And are welcome to walk around the property, there is a pond in the back yard and a forest right behind the pond for meditators or explorers. At your own risk, of course, the forest can be a bit rough walking.

Interaction with Guests

I always enjoy talking with my guests, and quite available to talk if you'd like. But I don't want to intrude while you are vacationing so will take my cue from you.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is very private with country charm while being close to both Port Angeles and Sequim.

Getting around

My home is about 3/4 mile from Highway 101. There is a bus line that runs every 1/2 hour to Port Angeles and to Sequim. If you like to walk and experience the country atmosphere you can make the trek in 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Lewis was a great host with a wonderful place to rest for our trip to the Olympic Peninsula. We would definitely recommend staying there and would love to stay there again for our next trip.

  • Our 3 nights at Lewis' guest house were wonderful. It is so conveniently located right off the 101 but you do not hear the road. Instead you hear the sounds of frogs and crickets at night and the sound of birds chirping in the morning. There is even a deer that likes to graze in the small meadow that the windows from the room overlook. Lewis was very kind when we arrived, telling us of his experience as an exploration geologist and all of the awesome places that job took him around the world. We spent 3 days exploring Olympic NP and after days filled with hiking and driving having a quiet place like Lewis' to crash out in was absolutely perfect. If you stay here we highly recommend checking out the Next Door Gastro Pub for fabulous burgers and tasty microbrews and the La Belle Creperie for amazing crepes, both savory and sweet. No question, would come back to stay at Lewis' anytime I am in the area.

  • Lewis' place was, as noted, very private and peaceful. The space was very clean and tidy and included amenities that helped it to feel more homey. The neighborhood, though just off of a main thoroughfare, was very quiet and naturally beautiful.

Lewis himself was there to greet me when I arrived. He was very kind and gave some great suggestions on places to visit in the area (even included a hand-drawn map).

Altogether, a lovely stay! Would definitely recommend this space.

  • Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The studio was a wonderful home base for exploring Olympic NP for a couple days. Lewis was a very welcoming host. Loved hearing the frogs at night!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Lewis' house! The studio is very comfortable and very peaceful. We could hear the sound of the frogs at night and the birds in the morning, it was so refreshing to be surrounded by nature for us who live urban lives. It is just a short drive to Port Angeles so it was perfect to take the ferry early in the morning to go to Victoria. Also, the hurricane ridge's stunning scenery in the heart of Olympic Park is just about 30 minutes away.

  • Beautiful setting. Frogs chirping, birds singing. Both bed and pull-out couch were comfortable. Great for sleeping. Quiet, clean, comfortable place. And Lewis is friendly and considerate.

  • Lew is likable, kind and caring. The location is quiet and yet near HWY 101 so trips to town either Port Angeles or Sequim is a short experience. Excellent in all respects

I'm a retired family man, geologist and woodscraftsman. I like to talk and share past work experiences with others. Capable - I built the home I live in and the attached, but private guest space offered here. Working on projects, improving my property, spending time in the workshop, managing the airbnb all keeps me busy. I enjoy talking with people and sharing my experiences from around the world. If I can help you with something during your stay, let me know. When you make your inquiry and reservation please feel free to ask about those things that are important to make your stay in Port Angeles comfortable.
