Il Diospero is a villa of the beginning of XXth century located in a quiet street close to the historical center of Florence, behind the famous Giardino dell'Orticoltura.
The elegant and familiar atmosphere has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large hall where having breakfast and a lounge area.
In the back of the villa there's a sunny garden, a relaxing place to spend the time reading a good book.
The historical center with its monuments is a few minutes away by foot or by renting one of the bikes at your disposal ..
Here we can enjoy comfortable rooms of various kinds, from single to triple.
The house is located in a particular place in the city, in a stretch of road between two level crossings that guarantee almost complete lack of traffic and noise.
The house is located just behind the Fortezza da Basso and just 5 minutes walk from Liberty Square, 200 meters away there is the bus stop of the n°13 which comes from Santa Maria Novella train station.
We remind all guests that from 1 July 2011 is required to pay the visitor's tax of 2 per day, you can do it directly at the B&B!!!!
I had THE most wonderful stay with Diego and Valeria. They are such consumate hosts, so enthusiastic and interested in life and people. Il Diospero is their passion and pride and it just shows in the way they live. They made me feel totally at ease and shared lots of interesting stories about Florence and their travels and life experiences. The house is absolutely beautiful and felt truly luxurious to me - especially the marble floors ! The room was huge. Diego came to fetch me from the station for a nominal fee and this certainly makes it a lot easier to arrive in a new city late on a busy Friday afternoon. They gave me loads of tips about Florence, what to visit, insider's advice on the best sights and walks etc. I got a tiny bit lost the first night but it really is an easy walk into town. If I could give them 6 stars I would ! Truly wonderful hosts...I hope to see them again sometime.
My stay at il Diospero B&B was a great experience!
I've agreed with Valeria to arrive at 12.30h but then I've arrived one hour earlier, which was absolutely no problem for my hosts.
The B&B is in a "normal" house and you can recognize it by the golden sign on the entrance door.
My room was lovely, clean and I had the bath room right opposite of the room, which was great. As I was the only guest for the weekend, I had it all for myself :-). They provide wifi, which is also very helpful!
My host had prepared a map of Florence for me and showed me the best way to explore the city in the short time I had! I followed his instructions and it worked out very well.
The house is not in the main touristic area, but very close. You just walk down for 10-15 minutes and you are at the dome. You can walk to the train station in 30 minutes or else take the bus C12 or C13 which stops near the Il Diospero.
Breakfast was rich and a great choice! The rooms are very comfortable, you can also use the living room.
I recommend staying there and would also go back again.
The hosts also provide a pick up from the airport for 10€ which is cheaper than a taxi and more convenient than the shuttle busses.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay, Valeria and Diego were very welcoming and always offered good advice on how to get around. Very centrally located, we could walk to center of Florence as well as easily get to bus and terminal. Each morning we had a home baked pastry as well as fruit, yogurt, meat and. Drinks!! We spent 6 nights and felt like it was our own little apartment!!! Very pleased!! Graci Graci, Arrivederci!!!!
Had a lovely stay in this B&B, shame we were only in Florence for a night. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Very helpful with directions and advise. Delightful room, everything was very clean. Breakfast was plentiful and varied - we loved the freshly made apple strudel. We were made to feel very welcome. For five euro's Diego dropped us to the train station in the morning to catch our train, very much appreciated.
This is the perfect place to stay when you are in Florence.
The hosts Diego and Valeria are very nice and very helpful. The place is beautiful and very clean. Within 10 min walk you are in the center.
If I ever go back to Florence I will definitely stay here again.
The house is absolutely beautiful, with lovely art, furnishings, bathrooms. Diego and Valeria have restored the home splendidly, and also provide a terrific breakfast. They are charming, helpful and kind, and went out of their way to accomodate our early breakfast request and varied transport issues. We would highly recommend this wonderful place and hope to return for a longer visit in the future!
Il Diospero is a wonderful little gem in Florence. We had a very clean room + bathroom, comfortable beds and amazing breakfast. Valeria and Diego are friendly and helpful hosts.
Valeria and Diego are very kind people and great hosts that made me and my family feel most welcome and comfortable.
The rooms are as beautiful as they look on the pictures and they are also extremely clean. We enjoyed a great breakfast with homemade cake, pancakes etc every day. Diego and Valeria were very helpful in providing tips for eating (Perseus was great), buses, and in fulfilling any special requests (transfer to the trainstation, printing some forms etc) that makes travelling so much easier and more enjoyable. Highly recommended !
We loved our stay with Valeria and Diego - lovely people. So nice to be greeted daily with happy, whistling (Diego) people :). Thank you for allowing us to share your lovely home. Sue & Peter
Il Diospero B&B is a modest representation of what guests can look forward to when they stay with Valeria and Diego. Sure, there's a bed and breakfast; but there's also the tastefully decorated villa with an impressive collection of artworks, beautiful garden, spacious bathrooms, pickup from the train station, and delicious homemade cakes for breakfast. Valeria and Diego are equally wonderful, making every effort to welcome their guests and to ensure a memorable stay not only in their home but also in Florence and its surrounding countryside. They are a treasure trove of sightseeing suggestions, and over breakfast are always happy to swap stories with their guests. Both are linguists with a combined total of 6 languages spoken between them, and they do their very best to make guests feel like a part of the home. I loved hearing Valeria and Diego's stories and my stay with them was home to many fond memories of Florence. I look forward to visiting again and tucking into some more of Valeria's delightful baking! I cannot recommend this B&B enough!
