Your time aboard the Silver Pearl will prove to be a pleasurable and unique experience. Dolphins swim by your windows, birds and fish abound. Glorious sunrises and sunsets, the stars overhead at night. Off-grid Glamping on the water!
We provide you with a 12' skiff with a trolling motor to use as your tender to go back and forth from shore. The Silver Pearl is anchored in place! You cannot drive it.
The space
The interior of the Silver Pearl is quite comfy and cozy. Numerous windows and screen doors allow the open water breezes to flow through. There are numerous fans and LIMITED air conditioning is also available for your comfort.
The queen size bed is fitted with sheets and a light cover and multiple pillows. The sofa can be opened to a double sized bed.
There is a full bathroom (called the “Head” on a boat-I don’t know why). With a dry-flush toilet, an over sized vanity, and single shower with glass door. The water supply is ample for an off-grid stay...BUT LIMITED! Detailed information will be provided in the manual. The water temperature is...refreshing.
Notes: Maximum 4 guests on-board strictly enforced! No acceptations! There is room for 4 adults but limited space, water and electric must be considered. Best suited for 2 (maybe 3) adults. And while the SilverPearl can be a great stay for adults and children over 10 years of age. Not so much for younger children (or their parents). If you are looking to book a stay aboard and you have younger children coming with you please inquire before requesting to book! We’ll chat about it. Everyone having an enjoyable stay is my top priority.
There is a fully off-grid: (no large power draw appliances) equipped kitchen.
With a stainless steel, propane cook-top burners with electric-start. Coffee pot, assorted pots, pans and various kitchen supplies within reach. The cupboard is stocked with ample mugs, glasses and dishes. Coffee, teas, sugars, and other condiments and spices provided for your use. You bring your preferred foods and snacks which you tuck away in the (almost) apartment size stainless fridge/freezer (bring a bag of ice to ensure chilled drinks), and on shelves for dry goods. There is also a full-size propane grill on the back porch.
There is a fully screened front porch. A great place to take an afternoon nap while enjoying the breeze and gentle lapping water, or play a board game or cards, many onboard to choose from.
Nature abounds! An osprey may swoop down clasping a fish with its talons, pelicans diving head first while gulls pester them to share, dolphins swim by, fish are always jumping!
The top deck has two loungers to catch the sun's rays.
Notes: Swimming or snorkeling from the houseboat is NOT recommended! In this area the water is nutrient rich which contributes to a more murky look and a silty gushy between your toes sensation, and home to numerous varieties of plant and sea-life that you'd like to see before encountering. There are terrific, world-class white sand beaches on the other side of Marco island that you can drive your vehicle to. I'll gladly provide you with details. NOTE: You cannot get to a beach or any attractions using the skiff. The skiff is strictly to go back and forth to where your vehicle is parked, and to explore (within view of the houseboat).
The Tides can and will dictate the times that your personal boat (12' skiff) may rest on the silty bottom and cannot be operated until the tide rises. (full-moon and new-moon decide) If your travel schedule includes flight times or prior commitments that dictate the time you need to be able to travel to and from the Silver Pearl inquire before booking!!! I will provide you with tide information and will offer assistance for ways to make it work for your unique stay aboard the unique Silver Pearl. Kayak(s) available - conditions apply.
If you bring your own boat: Boat launch is available for a fee at the Marina nearby. Trailer parking probably available where you park your vehicle. Please consult me before arrival. You are also welcome to bring your own kayaks or other water vessels, launch from the Marina and keep aside the Silver Pearl.
Note: If fishing is in your plans guests are responsible to ensure they have valid fishing licenses for the duration of your stay.
After some star gazing in the evening you might choose a movie from the large selection of dvd's onboard to watch on the 40" smart tv.
There are things to consider that aren't an issue when on-grid: you must monitor your electricity use. Most days there is ample sunshine but occasionally the clouds may put a damper on your movie watching at night :( You are dependent on the sun and batteries. Leaving lights on, or the TV, or running the water pump for extended time will deplete your batteries, and they will not be recharged until the sun comes out the next day.
LIMITED Air Conditioning now available! Conditions apply. If you are concerned about the level of cooling available on-board please ask me for details before booking!!!
Water: onboard there is a 60 gallon water storage tank and a pump to ensure water flows at all taps. Only the cold water tap is operable. You will know when you are using water as you will hear the pump running and you can see the physical water level fall as you use water. Drinking water: one gallon per day (no charge) is separate from this non-potable water supply.
The toilet: There are additional considerations. Please review information posted behind toilet! Being mindful of these parameters will be very beneficial to the comfort of your stay.
You MUST review the house rules manual that will be provided on-line by Airbnb when you book. You can access the manual from your booking confirmation page. I strongly suggest you read right away to help ensure this is the right kind of stay for you.
Definitely not a cookie-cutter vacation! A unique enjoyable experience you'll remember for years to come. Just be careful you might get hooked on being "on-the-hook."
