Extremely charming Perigordine Stone, country house. Recently and sympathetically renovated . 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. This beautiful house is a "foodies" heavy, with a superb modern fitted kitchen. Beautiful rural setting in the heart of Perigord noir, close to the towns of Les Eyzies and Sarlat and all the sites of the beautiful Dordogne and Vezere valleys.
(NB with 3 bedrooms we can sleep 6 with a bedroom each or up to 8 people, in a shared capacity)

The space

This fully restored home sits on 27 lovely acres in the heart of the Perigord Noir, where 600-year-old castles overlook the beautiful French countryside, and 30,000 years ago early man painted the caves with images of mammoths, aurochs and horses.

This comfortable house retains all of its authentic charm, with walls of stone, exposed beams and a massive fireplace, but it has been lovingly updated with the most modern utilities and features, including three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, two sitting rooms, a laundry room, and a spacious custom kitchen with stone countertops, a professional range, microwave, and dishwasher. And there's wifi, of course!

From this centrally located home, within minutes you can visit tourist favorites such as the Museum of Prehistory, Lascaux caves, and the medieval village of Sarlat; your family can go hiking, fishing or canoeing in the nearby woods and rivers; explore nearby castles, ancient churches, and historic villages; shop for antiques, artisanal crafts or fresh produce at morning farmer's markets; or simply relax in this peaceful spot to watch the deer graze in the fields at dusk and admire a billion stars in a night sky with no light pollution.

Whether you love sampling local French specialties like fois gras, truffles, and cassoulet, or prefer using the gourmet-quality kitchen to discover your inner French chef, this is a perfect place to spend a week or more.

We had a wonderful stay at Langlade. The home was lovely and perfect for the five of us. The kitchen is great for cooking meals and a large dining table to fit everyone. The bedroom downstairs and two upstairs were all great. The home sits on a large property and is great for watching views of the hills nearby and sunsets. The location was perfect for us. Off the beaten path yet still very close to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil which has lots of restaurants and shops. Very central location to lots of the main sites to visit in the Périgord Noir. We would definitely recommend this home to others that want to explore the Dordogne.

An exceptional place to stay! The house is very well appointed, extremely well maintained, and the location out under the stars at night could not be beat. The welcome basket, which I highly recommend, kept us quite content in the mornings before going out on all our visits. Sue and Jill are a delight and made several excellent restaurant recommendations. We'll be back!

Lovely property in a beautiful location. It was recently renovated, but still has its original character as well as a large, well equipped kitchen and great outdoor dining areas. It is situated only 10 minutes drive from Les Eyzies and a bit further from Sarlat. An absolutely fantastic location to explore the Dordogne region. We particularly enjoyed the swimming lake in Tamnies, evening meal in Sarlat, meal at local restaurant Les Combarelles and local caves. We also found a local "marche gourmand nocturnes" which involves eating amazing food with the locals in a nearby village square - be sure to ask the host about when and where to find these! We did have a few issues. The directions in the initial email were incorrect and misleading, and we had trouble finding the property. Also, the downstairs bedroom had a bed that provided limited support for the mattress, so we put the mattress on the floor to make it more comfortable.

This is a lovely renovated old house set in a delightful rural location, close to forest and meadow and teaming with wildlife. We saw deer, hares, woodpeckers, kestrels and a sparrow hawk, and all in our garden. The house is full of character, has generous spaces and is equipped with everything we needed. Susan, our host, was extremely helpful and very responsive to requests. We stayed for two weeks and found lots to do in the area, discovering picturesque villages, stunning landscape and of course exploring the fascinating prehistoric sites. A really great holiday!

Absolutely gorgeous house in a beautiful location perfectly situated for visiting the many amazing prehistoric and mediaeval sites in the area. Some lovely walks directly from the house. Susan was extremely helpful and always responded immediately to any questions we had. She went to a lot of trouble to help us find a restaurant suitable for vegetarians open on our chosen date - resulting in an exceptional evening! Overall an excellent stay - many thanks!

Superbe gîte au calme à la fois perdu au milieu de nul-part et à quelques kilomètres de tous les sites touristiques de la région. Cadre magnifique en lisière de bois et grandes possibilités de balades. Quelle cuisine ! :)

About Susan

I came to the Dordogne for a year initially, in 2002 and I am still here! It is a very special and very beautiful place and yes I love it - particularly in the summer. I run a small Gite management business (4 properties) and from my home in Meyrals I run a Bed and Breakfast with two double bedrooms. I am on hand to help you with anything you need, but I also respect your privacy - if you need me .... I'll be there.
