The space

Hello. You're about to read about a great place, a spacious apartment (130 sqm), calm and almost central, next to a very nice park with XIX century greenhouses.

The apartment has been recently renovated (2011), it has two newly made bathrooms, two bedrooms (1 large double bed + 1 sofa bed) a large living room, a room where I work when the flat is not rented (where an airbed will be placed for the fifth guest in case you are 5; I will make a special offer!), a kitchen and a fantastic porch on the back - overlooking a garden. My partner Federico and I always have lunch and dinner there from april to october! (unless it rains). Breakfasts on the porch are also great in the summer! The house is on the first floor (no elevator), has heating, it's equipped with a washing machine, a dishwasher, an iron and ironing board and it has wireless internet. You can park in the street under the house if you find a spot! (which you normally do!)
The apartment is located just off the city centre, behind Libertà Sq. I have indicated where exactly is the house in the 'maps' section - just click the tag "map" and is the dark green pin. Walking distance to the heart of town, the duomo, is 25 minutes; Bus n. 12 and n. 13 to and from the central station take 8 minutes sharp, while buses to the centre (C1 and 25) take 5 minutes. The flat is located in a non-touristic area; a 3 minute walk takes you to a daily fresh fruit and vegetables market and to a supermarket, a fantastic bakery, a great shop for sandwiches (panini!).

In case you feel like walking a on the less known country roads that surround this city, you only need to walk 10 minutes (uphill) and then you have various roads that lead to gardens, parks, olive orchards; on a sunny day, it's an incredible experience. (Mind the cars that sometimes drive on these roads! - I am posting a couple of pictures). The beautiful Stibbert Museum and Park (on the Florence card circuit) is 10 minutes away and you can reach it by crossing three gardens that will take you there in 15 minutes walk.

We hope you will like your stay as much as we do!

Where to start! Marcella's place was just impossibly lovely, and just the most perfect base for my girlfriend and I to explore Florence. It truly felt like "our home," even if only for a short few nights. Indeed is it wrong to be a bit jealous that it isn't my home? The bed is simply the best bed I have ever slept-in, the bathrooms (2!) are capacious and clean, indeed all the rooms are wonderfully airy and spacious. The kitchen is great, and we loved cooking one evening. With the balcony, and windows open, on a sunny day, you couldn't feel more at home in Florence. Marcella also left out oodles of Florence travel literature to help us make the most of our stay - and a great guide too. If we came back to Florence, we would look to book Marcella's place again before even looking elsewhere. One slight thing to be aware of, whether it is just the time of year (we were there in April) or more year round, we had the windows a little open at night and some nasty mosquitoes got in and rather ate us alive! When we had them shut, we had no issues at night, and no issues at all during the day, so just something to be aware of :)

Response from Marcella:
Thank you so much for being such splendid guests and for this great review! I am sorry about the mosquitoes. You had anti-mosquito repellant on your bed-table, apologies for not pointing it out explicitly!!! You're welcome back any time! Ciao, M&F

Mrs Marcella's house was everything but more than we expected. She waited and stayed with us after we got there and answering all our questions so patiently. She suggested and helped us to get tickets to the Uffizi which was a wise thing to do. I liked her easy going no nonsense personality. Her apartment was spacious with very open feeling. After outing all day, we enjoyed having tea in the evening and It felt so much like home. The neighborhood was nice. it took us about 20 minutes walking to the city center. If you drive a car then her place is even better for you. We enjoyed staying there very much. Would highly recommend her apartment!

We did not meet Marcella but her partner Federico was there to greet us and make us feel very welcome. Even more so he helped us sort out our luggage situation after it had bee lost on our way to Florence... which we are do grateful for. The location of Marcella and Federico's place was perfect and very close to a great Pizzeria and Gelato shop! 20 minute walk to old Florence and everything you need to see theit beautiful city. Would highly recommend Marcella and Federico's Airbnb to any guest!

Marcella and Federico were excellent hosts! The communication was very good and we received very useful instructions. The house is very well located, you can go walking to the historical center very easily, and next to the apartment there is also a very good supermarket. The house is cozy, beautiful and very comfortable. We're traveling in 5 people and we really felt like home. I do recommend this apartment!

We had a little trouble finding the apartment with our GPS system, but even though Marcella was out of town her partner, Federico, was very helpful in helping us navigate through Florence. The apartment exceeded all expectations and was very convenient to the Centro section. Marcella has a detailed printed list of nearby restaurants, services, transportation options, maps etc. We actually shared the space with Marcella and Federico and it worked out very well. They were both very helpful but not intrusive. I would highly recommend this space and would definitely stay there again.

I am an academic based at the University of Venice but I live in Florence. I'm very fortunate because I commute between two very beautiful towns; but what I most like to do is travel for pleasure and not for work. I also love skiing and swimming and, apart from work, I spend my time reading, meeting friends; I often give small dinner parties for friends in the house that you are viewing and they are always a success... I love cooking and having guests...I also love to meet new people. ciao.
