In Florence as the Florentines ...

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Via Vittorio Emanuele II, Florence, Tuscany, Italy

The Space

Hello. You're about to read about a great place, a spacious apartment (130 sqm), calm and almost central, next to a very nice park with XIX century greenhouses.
The apartment has been recently renovated (2011), it has two newly made bathrooms, two bedrooms, a large living room, a room where I work when the flat is not rented, a kitchen and a fantastic porch on the back - overlooking a garden. My partner Federico and I always have lunch and dinner there from april to october! (unless it rains). Breakfasts on the porch are also great in the summer! The house is on the first floor (no elevator), has heating, it's equipped with a washing machine, a dishwasher, an iron and ironing board and it has wireless internet. You can park in the street under the house if you find a spot!
The apartment is located just off the city centre, behind Libertà Sq. I have indicated where exactly is the house in the 'maps' section - just click the tag "map" and is the dark green pin. Walking distance to the heart of town, the duomo, is 25 minutes; Bus n. 12 and n. 13 to and from the central station take 8 minutes sharp, while buses to the centre (C1 and 25) take 5 minutes. The flat is located in a non-touristic area; a 3 minute walk takes you to a daily fresh fruit and vegetables market and to a supermarket, a fantastic bakery, a great shop for sandwiches (panini!).

In case you feel like walking a on the less known country roads that surround this city, you only need to walk 10 minutes (uphill) and then you have various roads that lead to gardens, parks, olive orchards; on a sunny day, it's an incredible experience. (Mind the cars that sometimes drive on these roads! - I am posting a couple of pictures).

We hope you will like your stay as much as we do!

  • Marcella was a wonderful host. Her flat is located right in the heart of Florence, close to many attractions, a short 10-15 walk to the Duomo.

Everything was done in order to make us feel comfortable and right at home.

The flat itself really beautiful and spacious. It is decorated very tastefully.

Marcella's flat gave us the perfect "Florence" experience.

I highly recommend and will reserve with Marcella again next time I am in Florence.

    Thank you for everything Marcella.

  • The apartment is located in an a very authentic Florentine neighborhood, with local restaurants, delicatessen shops (Fabbri is my favorite) and bars. It is well connected with the historic center (15 min walk or 7 min ride on bus C1), the central train station and the airport.
The apartment is spacious, nicely furnished, clean and fully accessorized (appliances dishes and tableware). Marcella is a super nice person, available for any question or request. highly recommended!

  • Perfect! Marcella's home was the ideal layout for us. We stayed for nearly 3 weeks and it was lovely. Because we work and travel at the same time, it was especially convenient having use of an office space with loads of natural light throughout. It's a great space with historic charm and modern furnishings with a warm and spacious layout.

It is conveniently located just outside of Florence center with a 20 min walk into the city. It is also conveniently located within a 5 min walk of a grocery store and local market just down the street. We also enjoyed the fact that when you look out the huge windows you see big green trees from all sides of the apartment; like an oasis in the city.

We have a one year old and the apartment was a nice setup for him as well.

Marcella and her boyfriend Federico were very easy to talk to and helpful with any questions we had. We also enjoyed having lunch with them in a traditional Florentine market, local style. Very friendly and accommodating people.

We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning again someday.

  • Thank you Marcella for a great apartment. It was very spacious, clean and we felt very much at home there. Great position (ten minutes walk to the bus stop). Breakfast on the balcony was brilliant. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

  • My daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights in the first half of May. This is a large beautiful apartment in a historic building, which is large enough to comfortably accommodate two couples. The pictures do it justice.
As described, walking in Florence is easy, and once you understand the system, the buses work well as well. We arrived when it was raining after a long train journey and took a cab to the apartment which only cost 11 or 12 euros. After that, we walked or took the bus, including to return to the train station at the end of our stay.
Marcella and Federico are great hosts, and went out of their way to be helpful, despite what I imagine are quite busy schedules. Marcella even helped me figure out a few pre-arrival travel issues related to train connections. We really enjoyed a nearby restauant they recommended. Another we could not get into without a reservation, alas. Would stay here again, for sure.

This trip was our first airbnb adventure, and it worked out well. A note to first time users--getting a "can't accomoidate your request" response to your booking request doesn't mean you have been refused, just that perhaps the host hasn't seen yet seen the email within the 24 hour window. This can creat some confusion if you have already been in contact wth the host and thought the booking request was just sealing the deal.

  • Very spacious apartment with great extras like a washing machine and lovely leafy trees to look out at from the kitchen and balcony. We walked into the heart of Florence in less than 30 minutes, but buses were well explained to us in the comprehensive notes of the house. Marcella was very helpful and very easy to communicate with as her english is perfect. The apartment is well situated with a local supermarket and pizza, gelati and bar just down the street. We would definitely stay here again.

  • We absolutely loved our time in Florence, and Marcella and Frederico were the most brilliant hosts. They were very accommodating - meeting us from the bus and also sending details for our journey before we left London, which was greatly appreciated. Their apartment is beautiful, light and airy and provided us with the perfect base from which to explore the city. We couldn’t have wished for more and we would definitely stay at the apartment again.

I am an academic based at the University of Venice but I live in Florence. I'm very fortunate because I commute between two very beautiful towns; but what I most like to do is travel for pleasure and not for work. I also love skiing and swimming and, apart from work, I spend my time reading, meeting friends; I often give small dinner parties for friends in the house that you are viewing and they are always a success... I love cooking and having guests...I also love to meet new people. ciao.
