A guest house in Olympic, located close to central to Nairobi and next to Kibera slum. We have five bedrooms, three bathrooms and one kitchen. We are praised for being clean and tidy! Price is for a double room.

The space

We have five rooms. This listing is for a double room. The price drops for extra people, but extra people beyond 2 will be booked into one of our dorms. We have three bathrooms and three toilets and hot running water. We have wifi and clothes washing can be arranged at no extra cost. We provide meals at 150 KSH per meal for breakfast and lunch and 200 KSH for supper. Once you arrive we can discuss a monthly price with meals included if you are staying for longer.

The Guest house is situated in the heart of Olympic Estate a bustling Nairobi neighbourhood. Although you feel in the middle of a vibrant community there is also a strong sense of security as the guest house is beyond two guarded gates.

Transport into town is incredibly easy as you are only a stone's throw from Olympic Bus terminal, with round the clock buses going directly to the centre of Nairobi.

Olympic is an estate which borders Kibera, the biggest slum in Africa and this is of interest to many guests who may have work or interest in Kibera. We can arrange tours or assistance with navigating within Kibera, and if you just want to soak up the atmosphere we can help you with that a well!

Everything about this guesthouse was great. Among many things to compliment, hospitality of the entire staff was most outstanding. I was invited to Edmund's house for dinner as well as the clubs, they also organized city/park tours, taxi services to and from the guesthouse, just to name a few. I am planning to stay at this guesthouse every time I visit Nairobi which will likely be once a year. One minor problem could be that even though residents do not feel likewise, because the guesthouse is located at the outskirts of the Kibera slum it can be overwhelming at first(as did I). During the end of my visit, I did feel much more comfortable about the location.

A small guest house in the nice, busy Kibera area, close to downtown Nairobi. They offer a very welcoming atmosphere, great staff and comfy beds. Rooms are simple, but clean and good value for your money. No complaint whatsoever, but highly recommended if you're looking for an affordable place with a good location.

Ed is a great host. Stayed for nearly 2 weeks, which happened to coincide with Ed's wedding. Despite that busyness and the numerous events that were happening, he was welcoming and made sure that I arrived safely, was understanding of my schedule (I was working in Nairobi at the time), and did whatever he could to make my stay pleasant. Additionally, the people working at the guest house, Eric in particular, were phenomenal. They were knowledgeable of the area and able to help me figure out local transportation regarding the best way to get into downtown Nairobi, as well as other locations. You also get a key so that you can come and go as you please. If you're looking for a simple, no-nonsense place to stay in Nairobi with decent transportation access in the middle of a vibrant community at a solid price relative to other locations, look no further. I'd definitely stay here again.

This was my second stay at this guesthouse. The staff is great, and so are the other guests. The neighbourhood is the best in town. Hope to come back another day!

We had the pleasure of staying with Edwin at Olympic Estates. Edwin was friendly and personable and really made our stay enjoyable. The place was clean and comfortable and we enoyed the food so much! Internet wasn't working, but Edwin was thinking it would be fixed soon. The location is safe and took Diddy's Kibera tour, which was great. We would definitely recommend staying here.

After the first uncertainties about the location of the place, I felt instantly at home. Edmund understood the first impression and knows well how to make visitors feel at ease. He took me at the arrival evening for a short stroll into Kibera which made me feel at home. I felt no agression or other conflict potential in the neighbourhood. The fact that Edmund is involved with non profit organisation enables you to contribute if you are interested (I did volunteering one morning with his work colleage Sharon in a home for disabled people). I would return any time and see Edmund and his friends again. Special thanks to Maureen, she is just the best!

I've really enjoyed my stay here! The staff are wonderful people that are very welcoming and helpful. The food is local and delicious, and the neighbourhood is vibrant and gives you the opportunity to learn about how the majority of Nairobians live.

I am a teacher by profession currently living in Nairobi working for a project I founded called Xavier Project. We provide education, employment and media opportunities for refugees living in urban areas. I love Nairobi and enjoy many different aspects of it from the simmering technology revolution to the traditional customs and the simple way of life found in my surrounding neighbourhood. As a result I have a diverse selection of friends here who I can introduce you to and who can give you the full Nairobi story.

I also spend a lot of time in Kampala where my other listings are located. I have been coming to Uganda regularly for the last four years and in that time I ticked a lot of the tourism boxes so I can offer advice on the many opportunities Uganda has to offer. In particular I have developed a walking tour route around Kampala, which has more gems than people give it credit for. If I'm feeling energetic I can take you myself or give you a bespoke map! Included in the itinerary are Kabaka's Palace and Lake, Rubage Cathedral, the minaret at Gaddafi's Mosque (top of - great views), Owino market, the craft shop complex, and Uganda Parliament, wrapping up with a drink in Boda Boda bar overlooking the Golf Course. A very nice afternoon adventure.
