About this listing
The pictures, comments and reviews are one of the best ways to get a fair impression of this apartment, instead of me telling you how peaceful it is... ;-). To experience it yourself is probably the fairest of them all...

The apartment is perfectly suitable for one person up to four persons. Wireless internet, CD, mp3, radio is available. Kitchen ware, bedding and towels will be supplied. Just a note if you are not a climbing type: In most of the old houses of Amsterdam the stairs are steep, also in this apartment. As the apartment is on the third floor, it can be a perfect way to stay fit, or it can be a big hassle for you. It's just how you want to experience it :-).

Interaction with Guests
First of all I like to point out that there is always room for communication and to adapt to your individual needs.
If you hesitate to book, you can contact me with your questions, which I will try to answer as detailed as possible.
After you book, and we both accepted, you will receive a mail, with an explanation how to get to the apartment, a self made (website hidden) map with places close by you can visit, a brief explanation of the house-guidelines and the desired check-in and check-out times.
During our booking it is best to reach me via AirBnB conversation. I check it at least once a day. Otherwise via e-mail or telephone ((website hidden) is also possible).
During Check-in, I or my friend Kassi will show you all there is to show and tell you more about Amsterdam and talk about the places you can and like to go to.
During Check-out, I or my friend Kassi will say goodbye and wish you a safe journey home.
I love that it is a small neighborhood, clean and very close to the Jordaan. I mostly do everything by foot.
Because of a waterleak there are tasks planned from June first till the first of July, every day from 8: 00 to 16: 00 out in the street. We expect that you will have no or very little burden of it.
Amsterdam is very suitable for walking and biking. Really! If you prefer public transport though; Tram 3 is around the corner. This will take you to the big musea; Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh. From this line you can switch to other tramlines. Busses are also nearby the apartment, but only convenient to go to the station and out of the city.
Other Things to Note
I'm one of those Amsterdam Dutch people who doesn't smoke weed. I have never smoked weed axially. In my view: the so called fun of that disconnected state, never appealed to me. I prefer to have people staying over, who pay attention to their every day life, their health and environment and see and enjoy the beauty in that. So, please if you are here to party and crash, this is not your place to spent your time. There are way better options for that, in Amsterdam. Amsterdam has so much to offer apart from weed and crash. so much more. And you are totally welcome here in this apartment, to experience that beauty.
Please understand the need for a €150 cash deposit which you will get back during Check-Out.
Appreciate silence after 22:00 in the stairway. (Music till 01:00 at night is ok, if it is not loud and hearable in the stairway, silence talking in the stairway (this is not the apartment) after 22:00 in the evening and before 8:00 in the morning.)
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 1 night.
Good value for money, nice location, easy check in. In other words - recommended
We stayed at Wouter's place for 3 nights and were well looked after by Kassi. The location is great, next to the canal but in a residential part of town a 25 minute walk / 10 minute bike ride from central station. It is very easy to locate from the station but I would recommend walking down Haarlemmerdijk rather than the busy Tussen de Bogen. The apartment itself is quiet and has everything you would need including a big open living space, and all the amenities to make a home-cooked meal if you want to skip the restaurants for a night.
Kassi gave us great tips for things to see and do around Amsterdam, which was helped us to get the most out of our short stay. It was a pleasure to come back to the apartment each night, and we felt right at home. We'd happily stay at Wouter's again!
Had a lovely few days staying at Wouter's flat. It was ideal for us, just a short bus ride away from the city centre. Thanks Wouter!
The apartment was as described and perfect for three people! A bit difficult to get up the narrow stairs to the apartment but that is apparently normal in Amsterdam so no problem here! :) Responses always came fast and we didn't have to wait long upon arrival and when checking out. The location is beautiful, about 20-30 minutes to the city center by foot. So you might want to rent a bike ;) It was nice walking though since everything is very beautiful in that area!
Would stay here again! Thanks for everything!
I stayed in Wouter's apartment with 3 girlfriends and we really liked it. It was as described and as shown in the pictures. The living room and the master bedroom were very spacious and comfortable. Wouter's friends were very helpful with any of our queries and there were no problems with communication beforehand or in Amsterdam. I would recommend staying at Wouter's beautiful apartment!
The apartment was spacious with a rustic/unfinished decor. The overall description is accurate with the location in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is not a convenient place to stay if you plan on spending a lot of time or want to be close to the vibrant party district of town. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of plates, glasses and silverware. There is a laundry mat at the end of the block and a small market around the corner on the next street which was convenient. I liked that the tram was two minutes away and can take you easily to the other side of town where the museums and parks are located. The tram does not take you to the central station area. This is about a 20 minute walk. Upon entering the building there is a lot of old mail in the hallway, coats and hats lying around and paint peeling off the walls as you go up the stairs. The actual aparment is better kept than the public areas. Take note of the description of narrow steep stairs and WIFI only available in the living room. There are sixty steep steps from the bottom of the building to the rooms upstairs. It was difficult getting my luggage up the stairs, but after a while I got used to going up and down them. Also in the description there is a note about a leak being repaired. When I stayed here, the leak still hadn't been fixed in the second bedroom. Initially, there was only one towel provided per person for a six-night stay and no shampoo was provided. I contacted the manager Kassie and he found more towels for us during the middle of our stay. Kassie was a very pleasant person and most helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again.
We really enjoyed staying in your flat! It was indeed quiet, and it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle. It was in a nice location, I liked having the view of a canal, the local bar was very nice, and it was an easy walk from the centre. Comfortable beds, very nice bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Would highly recommend staying here - thanks!
About the Host, Wouter
I love to be outside and I love to come home in a quiet safe surrounding and just enjoy being. This thing called 'Home' is what I hope to create for you during your stay in Amsterdam.
My main occupation at the moment is hand-making a carpet, with wool and cotton. One of my big financial supporters has been occasionally renting out my apartment via AirBnB for the past few years. This summer (2015) I might start hiking for a few weeks through Europe, so ideally when you rent my home, you support my travel. Thank you. Apart from the financial benefits, I find it a treat if someone else can enjoy my apartment, while I'm away.

I hope you enjoy my apartment as much as I do and more and more… :-). I wish you a wonderful stay in Amsterdam!
My dear friend Esmarel will do the communication via Airbnb, as I will be on travels.
