Enjoy your pina colada while floating in your private pool and watching the wildlife in the canal that leads to the Caribbean Sea.
Lounge around in this newly built contemporary home, with its open floor plan that allows everyone to participate in the fun. You are located in a quiet, remote neighborhood, with the view of the Sea from the private balcony off the master suite or from the large rooftop verandah, where you can sit in he evenings and gaze at the stars and the full moon.
The large master suite, located up what looks like floating steps, has a cozy queen bed, and when you wake up in the mornings, just look out the sliding glass door to watch the sunrise without getting out of bed. It has a large walk in glass tiled shower with massage jets and a rain shower head.
Step outside to your own private balcony where you can have breakfast, or an evening cocktail, while watching a possible manatee swimming the waters below.
There are two bedrooms, on the main level of the home. One bedroom looks out onto the pool and the waterside, with the cool Caribbean breeze blowing through the windows with a private bathroom. It is whimsically decorated and bright and cheery.
The second bedroom, with a larger modern bathroom is decorated in blues and browns which make you feel cozy and just want to continue to relax in this comfortable room. All bedrooms are air conditioned for those possible steamy nights.
These bedrooms are separated by a small office space where you can catch up on your emails and send photos of your daily adventures.

Despite some initial logistical delays, we very much enjoyed the house. Laura was a nice, accommodating host. The location of the house is perfect if you intend to fly to the islands or out west. It's also nicely located for all points north; or if you intend to spend time in Belize City (not recommended). The only real issue is that the house is a good 30-45 minute drive from the junction with the western highway. That adds up if you intend on visiting the areas on the western road, such as the zoo, the cave tubing sites or San Ignacio. Also, if you attempt to drive into Belize City on any weekday morning, beware - rush hour traffic is horrendous. It will take you up to an hour to reach the ferries to the islands, for example. So plan to give yourself a big cushion. Again, I don't want to take away from the fact that the house itself is very nice. But because Belize is the kind of place where most of the great experiences are in the western part of the country - the location of this house could prove a bit inconvenient. Recommended for close proximity to airport for local flying and all points north. Otherwise, beware of the potential time taken away from your day reaching all points west from the house.
We had a great time at Laura's place. It came with a van (that we named "Herman") and it was convenient to get everywhere we needed to go on the mainland. The house is beautifuly decorated with 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and a great view of the channel that connects to the ocean. She helped set up a private pick up from the airport and Darwin was great (even after we showed up an hour later than expected :/ ) The kitchen is a little bare as far as cooking utensils go, but if you get creative you can make a good meal. It was great for breakfasts and dinners. Each bedroom has A/C that you really only need at night as when you open the doors and windows a constast cool breeze is always blowing through the house and off the water. We would definitely stay again on our next trip down.
