Beautiful remodeled Country House, around the corner from the magic Painted Hills, one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon. Located in a quiet neighborhood in the small community of Mitchell.
Spacious and cozy, with many loving details, this house can accommodate a family of up to 5. A sanctuary, offering peace and tranquility surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The perfect place to get away from it all and be in nature, recuperating from the impact of the pandemic.

The space
This spacious house sits on a bluff overlooking the town of Mitchell and the hills beyond. It has just been remodeled, featuring a brand new bathroom with a large step in shower, and has a well-equipped kitchen. A cozy breakfast nook looks out into the mountains and old fruit trees. The whole space feels warm and lively with great views from all windows that flood the rooms with light. Colorful art, throw carpets, and cozy furniture add to the special ambience of the house. The two bedrooms feature comfortable beds with high quality mattresses and cozy bedding.
There is plenty of outdoor space, and a BBQ area. The Laundry room has been remodeled to include a washer and dryer.
The famous Painted Hills are close by, as are many wonderful hiking paths, and the John Day River is just a short drive away. The town of Mitchell is quirky and welcoming to visitors.

Guest access
The whole house and garden is yours to use. The attic will be locked.

Other things to note
This area around Mitchell is a hikers paradise with many photogenic hikes off the beaten path. Great swimming holes and boating ramps are accessible along the wild and untamed John Day River. Where ever you go, you will experience a taste of wilderness and pure Nature! The starry night skies are spectacular due to no light pollution!
We welcome pets but REQUIRE a $25/dog/night PET FEE (regardless of size) to be paid via cash on the day of arrival! All pets must be declared prior to arriving! Thank you!

My mother Barbara and I have created one of the most adorable places in Oregon - The Painted Hills Vacation - Cottages & Retreat! We're are having a wonderful time hosting travelers from around the world since 2008 in our 3 european style cottages close to the famous Painted Hills here in Eastern Oregon. I'm an herbalist with a bachelors of Science degree from the Bastyr University in Seattle. I'm also a cook and have had my own restaurant together with my 2 sisters in Seattle from 1990 till 200. The place was called Sisters and a popular Eatery in the famous Pike Place Market in the heart of Seattle. My mother is a great master gardener and has created a beautiful oasis with the magic gardens surrounding the cottages. The serenity and beauty of the gardens are a special treat for all our guests. We both love to welcome travelers to this special area - a geological wonderland with no light or noise pollution where we are close to nature and the landscapes are breathtaking. Come and visit us :-)
