(February & March guests: The daffodils and tulips are up. Oh, boy!)
When you are visiting the Bay Area, house hunting, on a job assignment, spending time with the grandkids, have guests in town, or just want a peaceful place to land for awhile and think or write or go on a personal retreat, this serene, comfortable hotel alternative in nature may be perfect for you.
Small, separate cottage-like room with windows on three sides opens onto a Japanese garden and ancient oaks. Separate full bathroom is a few steps away.
Amenities include: free high speed internet and Wi-Fi, i-pod dock, mini-fridge, microwave, electric tea kettle, laundry, use of hammock and outdoor barbeque, 11x11 foot screened in tent on a platform with bed (for sleeping outdoors amidst the oaks, if you like). There is lots and lots of off-street parking and room to roam on a full acre. Guests here for longer stays have access to a beautiful, fully stocked kitchen.
Secluded setting yet only a 10-minute walk to the little village of Orinda where you’ll find a host of restaurants, movie theater, drugstore, ice cream shop, and Peet’s (and Starbucks) coffee; five minutes further walking will take you to the Orinda BART station.
Orinda is well-situated out of the Bay Area fog belt, only 25 minutes by direct BART train to downtown San Francisco, even closer to Berkeley and Oakland in one direction, Concord and Walnut Creek in the other. Easy access to the wine country an hour away.
Light breakfast snacks including Peet's coffee are provided.
Sometimes, a Breakfast Basket with a delicious full breakfast may magically appear outside your door...
You may never want to leave!
(No smoking or pets please)
* The cottage room is not large; probably best for a single or a compatible couple (and/or a couple with a small child). There is lots of outdoor space however.
Peaceful. Magical. Serene. Enjoyably Relaxing. A Soothing home away from home...I stayed at this cottage for the sole purposes of relaxing and restoration. It was needed, and I wanted to be surrounded by nature yet not too far from the city. The gazebo within the Oak trees - a fabulous place to meditate, take pictures, or simply gaze at the beauty of nature. Oh, and on a dark night with a full and brilliant moon, it's the place to be.
The most delightful part of staying here was the breakfast basket in the mornings. Thank you so much,Tracy, for being such a caring and hospitable hostess.
I will definitely stay here again!
What a lovely space surrounded by nature! The cottage is in tip top condition, and the heater works wonders on a chilly february night. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Tracy, but everything was prepared for us when we arrived. Place is very close to great hiking trails, we did the 5-hour "butt-kicking" Mount Diablo grand loop. Highly recommended!
Tracy's home is my home away from home. I stay with her at least a couple of times a month and love it!
I will stay here again. The space was beautiful and perfect for a nice quiet relaxing night away.
Tracy's house is a beautiful place and Tracy is a fantastic, incredibly interesting and wonderful host. We had some very relaxing days in her garden, enjoying the sun and this wonderful fall. As we had to work a lot, this was the perfect place for us.
Thank you so much, Tracy, for the wonderful time and for letting us enjoy your little paradise!
Tracy is the best host ever! She met, and exceeded, my expectations in every category. The food she prepared and the treats she provided were exceptional. I was even invited to share in the celebration of her mother's 94th birthday. WOW! (Wiser Older Woman). I would be happy to recommend her, and her beautiful home, to anyone. Thank you Tracy!
We wish we had made more time to just relax in Tracy's wonderful garden, stay in her outdoor sleeping space and eat her delicious breakfasts! She made us cookies, rye bread, scones, and peach preserves, and packed little morning picnic baskets which she left on our door step, all divine! I cannot say enough good things about our stay with her. Every detail was impeccably taken care of. The place is cozy and very comfortable. The home is a truly special place and Tracy is a warm and gracious host. We will definitely stay with Tracy again when visiting the area!
Our first stay at Tracy's home a couple of month ago, was wonderful
We came back and had the best vacation ever.
Tracy is a sweet heart of host, her home is peaceful, soothing and lovely.
We enjoyed the best California weather and benefited immensely from
her local know-how.
The walk around the Lafayette reservoir became an almost daily routine.
Great food and restaurants in the area.
This place is the one we exactly searched for as a point of rest for our time in San Francisco area. It's a jump away from the great BART, the train running into SF and the best choice if you don'y want to stuck in the traffic the whole day.
Coming back in the evening Tracy's garden and home was a place to recover from the daily adventures.
We stayed there for only three days, we would get back for the next time.
Tracy herself is a wonderful host and we wished having more time talking to her.
Thanks Tracy for having us!
Tracy's place "takes the cake!" Tracy herself is very warm and welcoming, feels like an instant friend. Craig and I stayed 8 nights at her wonderful petite guest house, and just loved its coziness and comfy bed. The main house is great, nicely appointed and spacious. Tracy even invited us to have a family brunch there one day, for 9 of us, which was terrific fun. We really made use of all of her possible sleeping spaces, with my cousin from Colorado staying in another guest room 3 nights; and our nephews from Spain loved spending their nights in the screen-covered gazebo farther down the property! A favorite memory is having breakfast outside each morning (thanks to Tracy's delicious offerings), watching birds flock to the bird feeders on the patio. We can't thank Tracy enough for accommodating all our needs and being such a friendly and gracious hostess. We'll definitely come back!
