Doug lives in the hip and historic brownstone neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. It's a quiet and relaxing location only fifteen minutes by car or twenty minutes by subway to SOHO and Manhattan. LIRR/Flatbush/Atlantic Terminal is within walking distance from the house. Both national and international airports are convenient by car, taxi, subway or railroad. Generally there is easy to find parking on the street in front or near the building.
"B-B" means a comfortable bed is offered but no breakfast. All of Doug’s guests want to eat breakfast at one of the local and characteristically unique delis and restaurants near by. Shopping markets, the Barclay's Center Arena, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Brooklyn Flea and Fort Greene Park are easily accessible on foot or subway. Guests can use the backyard, wireless computer connection and full bathroom. The middle room is cozy and has a queen size bed, no windows to the outside but has double French glass doors and a ceiling fan. It’s cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The middle room is a bargain at $125/single or $175/for two per night.
There is a NY State Hotel Tax of 18% that is added to the final amount. I'm obligated in collecting this tax, as every B&B is in NYC, whether they do or not is up to them. Yes it's unfortunate but I don't want to get into trouble with the State. To compensate for this slight cost increase I've discounted my space to more than compensate for the Tax Man.

Excellent host! Even before our arrival, Doug was concerned about us. He sent us a detailed itinerary of the best routes to get home. Whenever we place it on your phone with any questions. The room, though small, is very welcoming. A fan made our stay more enjoyable. Doug is worried that disposes the best, from maps and city guides to the best data to eat and have fun.
The neighborhood of Fort Greene Place is very quiet, nice and safe (we miss you especially the breakfasts at The Academy, a Greek restaurant located on the corner of the street). We could go to great places at night. Doug's house is a few blocks from the metro stations, which greatly facilitated our stay.
The house has a nice backyard, where Doug even got invited to a party the first weekend at home.
However, if we thought back to NYC, we think of the home of Fort Greene Place.
I had a great time in New York and Doug had a lot to do with it. He helped me get the hang of public transportation with precise, clear and understandable instructions; from leaving the airport, through getting to his place, to commuting back and forth between Manhattan and Brooklyn. He also gave me directions to move around the neighborhood and suggestions as where to eat and buy some things I had forgotten; he even contacted me with a mobile phone seller to check whether it was worth it to get one! Oh! Wait! He went further to lend me a very practical umbrella for a rainy day! What are you waiting for?! Book with him! Book with him! :-)
Doug was a great and reliable host. Warmly welcoming us the night of New Year's Eve, a not so convenient day.
We really appreciate him and the location of his comfortable place, in a great neighbourhood and really close from the train station for Manhattan or Brooklyn (A&C)
Doug was an AMAZING host. The room was beautifully kept and super cozy... Couldn't have asked for a more gracious host and a move comfortable stay.
The neighborhood was gorgeous, calm, but still plenty to do. Doug had great suggestions on places to eat, galleries to see, and things to do in the surrounding area. Thanks for a great stay!
Doug was a fantastic host! He was very accessible during the "exploratory" stage and extremely flexible during the booking phase. He was an excellent host and made us feel right at home. The room and bathroom were very clean and cozy. I would stay with Doug again as well as recommend the space to other travelers. Thanks, Doug!
Doug was great! He knows his neighborhood very well and is able to give great recommendations of places to eat and things to do. The room is cozy and clean. I would come back again!
Excellent place to stay! If you want to explore New York and it's increadible art scene, the best way is to find accomodation in Doug's appartment. I am an economist working in Vienna and my daughter studies Art History in Berlin, although we are Hungarians.
During our five days visit, with his wide knowledge and friendly manner, he gave us interesting insider tips of restaurants of rights, whenever needed. The appartment is really close to a lot of different train-lines, any place in Brooklyn or Manhattan is easy to reach. The area is nice, safe and calm, a park for morning joggings, a street with different restaurants and bars with life music are just around the corner.
After a long day exploring New York, the small room with an amazingly cosy matress offers a good price/value relationship for you good night sleep.
