Attractions and distance
Artisanale Saligao situated in the heart of one of the prettiest North Goa villages, is close to the famous Calangute, Candolim and Baga beaches. It is a 15 minute ride to Anjuna and Vagator beaches.
Location – neighborhood description
Artisanale Saligao invites you to quiet walks along village paths, winding through magnificent homes and village taverns. The evenings could be spent at the rustic village tavern, Cantare, run by a local villager. The gothic church, Ayurvedic Message and Therapy center, and the popular local eating place for chicken cafreal, are all within strolling distance. Saligao was home to the world famous artist Francis Newton Souza... and once here, you realize what could have brought out the artist in him.
The super market [one of the largest in Goa] is within 15 minutes driving distance. It might be ideal to rent a 2 or 4 wheeler to get around. However we have had some guests who loved walking to the supermarket, the beach, around the village etc. I guess this comes from the fact, that this house Artisanale Saligao, though close to the beach is beautifully tucked in the village, which is picturesque in itself.
The homes are located in enchanting locales off the beaten tourist track and are each within 2-3 kms of the main market. However, we would arrange your transport, site seeing trips, et al … on request.
The homes are self sufficient and equipped with all the basic amenities required for a long stay. Artisanale Homes are self catering premises, and food arrangements are made on request.

Darshan, our housemaid, is helpful though extremely limited in the English Language. She keeps the house very tidy and tends to the daily chores.
Artisanale homes are painstakingly restored heritage homes in village surroundings and we expect our guests to respect the homes and its serene surroundings during their stay.
From Dec 23, 2015 - Jan 03, 2016 the minimum stay is 13 nights.
We lived and worked with our two children for some months at Beach Belt Quaint Heritage in Saligao. Everything was perfect for us! The house has a good spirit & Yshana is one of the best hosts you can dream of! Highly to recommend if you want to get a glimpse of the REAL Goa.
Great home, well maintained in a quite neighbourhood not too far from all the action at Candolim, Calangute and Baga. Host Yshana was extremely helpful in recommending places to party and dine. Loved it and will definitely visit again. Bonus WiFi was a nice surprise and worked well in most rooms in the home.
We had only planned to stay for a week, but we ended up extending our stay till the end of our one month vacation.
Yshana and Sanjit made sure to arrange every little detail for us.
20 minutes Away from the beach fuss, smiling Darshan would come every morning cook and clean, making sure that we were in need of nothing.
Next to the house's telephone, Yshana had thoughtfully written Darshan's number along with a very punctual driver's number; Nitesh.
Whether it was drinks in the candlelit backyard, the fresh fruit basket on the dining table, the sunset reading on the entrance benches, or the warm salutes of the saligao villagers,
Yshana and Sanjit could not be better hosts, we called Saligao home.
We dont really know where to start, Yshana and her family may be the most kindly and helpful hosts we met. We stayed at Artisana Le the last month on our four month long trip and it couldn't be better. The house was decorated with so much art and love, it was really over our expectations . We spend most of our time in the beautiful calm village or in the lovely little backyard with a cup of chai. Of course we must mention the sweet housemaid, who cleaned the house every morning with a big patience and an even bigger smile.
From the moment we arrived they made us feel like home, or even better. From tiniest little question to personal issues Yshana always was there to help us.
Whoever you are, no matter if you are human or a animal, you will love this place.
One thing is sure, we definitely will return to Saligao and this lovely home.

Such a pleasant stay! The house is full of personality and charm. This place is carefully decorated and really has character of a home rather than a rental place.
The host’s are far beyond nice. They are simply fantastic and will make sure your stay is a great success.
As mentioned in the other reviews there are some noise from the road and some dropout of the internet. None of this bothered me. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Good restaurants nearby too ☺
Our stay in Beach Belt Quaint Heritage Home lived up to the reputation of being the perfect home away from home. The home exuded a lot of warmth - the kitchen was roomy with a small round table where folks could have a light banter while cooking. All the rooms - the two bedrooms, the dining hall, the main hall had the perfect blend of Portuguese architecture and Yshana's eclectic taste.
Now about the location. We had driven to Goa (ample parking space available even for a SUV - the lane is narrow though) and felt Saligoa was the decent launchpad for our nightly / morning jaunts. Baga beach, Calangute, Candolim, Arambol were just short drive away. Goa is clustered with nice restaurants and most are round the corner (10-15 mins).
Finally about our host Yshana - she exemplified the fabled Goa hospitality. She was very accommodative, had some nice insight about Goa and made us feel right at home (she welcomed us with some nice chilled beer - KF).
While there are tons of positives, the one negative would be the traffic noise that distracts you once in a while- especially in the main hall. The other negative is the not so great mobile network reception (Airtel) - for people addicted to push notifications and blinking lights of smartphones, the lack of email notification would be disconcerting and traumatizing - but I secretly loved it!
Overall, if you want a stay away from home, Beach Belt Quaint Heritage Home is the place.
We stayed at this restored Goan house for a a very short two day work trip (Who goes to Goa on a work trip!). Yshana made an exception to host us for this short stay since they normally take longer bookings, given the time and attention Yshana and her husband Sanjit give to the hosts and to the home.
We enjoyed our hosts company and the stay. They have thought a lot about the guests' stay experience and are constantly evolving. We had a true airbnb experience, connecting not just with the place, but also with the hosts. There are some lovely surprises which I will not spoil for future guests.
This is definitely not meant for those looking for a party villa. It is a quiet retreat, and yet not too far from the Calangute and Baga beaches.
Don't miss getting a drink at Cantare..the local bar with beautiful bluesy / jazz music. We happened to meet the bar owners who have a great character and have lovingly restored the building in which they serve great food & drink.
We wish Yshana and gang the best in their ambition to lovingly showcase the real Goa to travellers who will appreciate this.

About the Host, Jude And Yshana
Hi, we are Jude and Yshana, from India...in a beautiful place called Goa, a lovely small South West coastal town famous for its sun, sin and serenity. Our homes listed here are delicately tucked away into the villages of Goa, giving you the typical Goan ambience. We love our Goan heritage, culture and love traveling around the world. We have both of these loves in our Artisanale Homes. Our homes have been born out of the need to save many a Goan home from being razed down by the new world builders. We have painstakingly restored the homes over many years and adorned the walls and floors with our very own collections from around the world.
After having build relationships with new people from across the world over 2 years and making some wonderful and beautiful memories, we have now added new homes to our existing ones. Our newest one in Sindhudurg, South Maharasthra is about 4 hours from Goa, and is a simply beautiful villa facing the sea in a truly remote village....
We hope to keep making new friends and meeting wonderful people.
