The Hillside Retreat is a tiny house (under 400 sq. ft). It is located on the NY Amish Trail, 7 minutes from Cockaigne Ski Resort and just minutes from the Equestrian Trail. There are fishing areas nearby as well as Maple farms for activities during the fall. Holiday Valley and Alleghany State Park make for a nice drive. We are located in a private setting surrounded by nature, shared by the family and other cabins. We just added a charge point EV charger for guests with electric cars.

The space
Welcome to Hillside Retreat, a place to escape from the world - to find rest and relaxation in a peaceful setting. The 14-acre property has several walking paths through the woods, if you enjoy morning or evening walks. There are open lawn areas as well as wood areas for exploration. You may see the neighborhood deer in the lower lawn in the evening or early morning. Even though we would prefer they stay out of the garden, there will be times you will see them there. The Bunnies are very active on our property - you may see them in the garden as well as on the walking paths.

You are staying in a tiny house, but it is big on coziness. Throughout the Hillside Retreat you will see white wood along with plaid and rustic touches. The trees help to keep the tiny house cool, but there is also a window AC unit if you need it a bit cooler. In early summer you can enjoy watching the lightening bugs from the porch decks. This is your escape from the chaos of everyday life. Enjoy the rest, relaxation and tranquility! We are a year-round destination.

During hunting season, you may hear gunshots for target practice or game hunting. Our property is in a rural setting, but hunting on our property isn't allowed.

This Hillside Retreat Tiny House boasts all the amenities you could need and décor that will give you that country feel. It’s the perfect stay if you love modern amenities with country tranquility. There is 1 bedroom (with a double bed) and 1 bath. In the livingroom there is a futon if needed. Enjoy your cup of coffee, glass of wine or bottle of beer on the porch. There is a bistro table if you would like to take your meals outside. There is a citronella pot to hold the flying pests at bay. There is a firepit just across the lawn for your use. Usually there is wood available for the pit, but give us a heads up and we will make sure you have everything you need. We have specific blankets that you can curl up with at the firepit. Please use those and not the ones from the tiny house. Relax in the chairs and make s’mores or star gaze.

Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations. Please feel free to contact us, if you need more information.

The kitchenette is fully stocked (cookware/bakeware for the stove/toaster oven), service for 4 dinnerware, glasses/coffee mugs. There is a microwave and Kuerig Coffee Maker for your use. Please note that there is only a 2 burner stove top and a toaster oven - there isn't a full-size oven, but rather a toaster oven.

Check with us if you would like to have the grill to use for your stay. We can have it set up for your visit. There is a bistro table and two chairs on the deck for outside dining.

The Hillside Retreat has a TV with HDTV digital antenna to see the local stations plus some others, (no cable or WiFi). You will find a selection of DVD’s for your use, if you just want to relax with a movie. We have more choices in movies, if you don't see something that interests you. Send us a quick text and we can show you additional titles. There is usually cell service for most carriers – this is a true get-a-way.

There is a fireplace for you to enjoy with your evening beverage of choice and a good book or a movie. We have a large selection of movies at our place, if you aren't seeing something you like, let us know!

Washer and dryer available on request. Please contact owners regarding use of them.

We just added a charge point EV charger for guests with electric cars.

Where you’ll be

Cherry Creek, New York, United States

You will be sharing the road with our Amish community. Keep an eye out for the horse and buggies, especially when it is dark. They will have a red caution triangle on the back of the buggy, but at night or in bad weather it can be difficult to see. Many will have lanterns on the side of the buggy, but they aren’t very bright.

We are just outside of the Hamlet of Cherry Creek; a small community with just one blinking light.

With just a drive you can also explore Ellicottville, Chautauqua, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Lily Dale, Kinzua Dam, Salamanca, Chautauqua Lake, Cassadaga Lake, Erie - PA, Jamestown, Findley Lake - so many places to explore!

We live on the property, in case you need anything.

During your stay

We would like to greet our guests at check-in, but there may be times that we are unable to. We will make sure the unit is ready for you in that case. The best way to reach us is through the Airbnb app. If you don't have it on your phone, please give us a heads up so we can make other arrangements for communication.

You may see us out and about on the property doing lawn care, gardening and maintenance. Please feel free to interact - we love to chat, but will also give you your privacy if that is what you need.

You can enjoy the walking paths on the property. We ask that you honor the posted signs of neighbors. There is a seasonal pond out back - just a short walk away. Because we are in a wooded area, you may need bug spray.

There is a garden you can enjoy. You will find a variety of flowers as well as seasonal fruit and veggies. You are welcome to sample the fruit/veggies.
