Dongchonjae is located in Seochon Village, close to Gwanghwamun Square and Gyeongbokgung Palace, the center of Seoul.
Built about 100 years ago, Dongchonjae is a traditional Hanok officially certified by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Tourism Organization.
Dongchonjae has been operated since October 2020 by a retired couple who opened their home.

It consists of one building, and the space is divided into the main building (Anche/Main
House), Sarangchae/Detached House, and Annex.
Guests have exclusive use of the main house and the annex.
The host lives in the detached house,
and will personally assist you with necessary services such as providing breakfast.

The space
[Location and nearby attractions]
Dongchonjae is located near Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gwanghwamun Square, the center of Seoul, so transportation is very convenient.
Gyeongbokgung Station and the airport limousine bus stop are nearby.
You can easily get to major palaces such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace, traditional villages such as Bukchon and Insa-dong, traditional markets such as Tongin Market, Gwangjang Market, and Namdaemun Market, and Seoul's hot spots such as Myeongdong and Seongsu-dong on foot or by public transportation. It's in the middle of the city, but the surroundings are quiet, so you can have a cozy and comfortable rest.
[Accommodation structure and areas for use]
Dongchonjae consists of the main house (Anchae), the detached house (Sarangchae), and the annex (Munganche).
The main house (Anchae) and the annex (Munganche) face each other with a yard in between, and they are guest-only buildings that use the same main gate (front gate).
Sarangchae (Detached House) is an independent building with a separate entrance (main gate).
Guests have full and exclusive access to the main house, which has 4 bedrooms, a large living room, a kitchen, 2 toilets with showers, a sun room, and a yard, as well as the entire space of the annex.

[Information on traditional bedding]
We provide traditional Korean traditional bedding instead of a bed so that you can fully feel the warmth of the warm ondol floor and deeply experience the Hanok. For foreign guests, we provide two thick and fluffy Korean-style mattresses (cotton mattresses) per person so that you can sleep comfortably even on the floor.

Breakfast, carefully prepared by the host, is provided for free. There is also free parking available at the entrance of Dongchonjae.
There are many popular restaurants and cafes around the accommodation, so it's also good for enjoying various Korean delicacies.
Dongchonjae will be the best choice for those who want to conveniently travel to major tourist attractions in Seoul while experiencing a traditional Korean hanok firsthand.
[Korean Traditional Culture Experience]
When you come to Dongchonjae, you can directly experience everything from traditional household tools like a millstone, a mortar, and a pestle to traditional musical instruments like a janggu, a gongo, and a jing.
Those who stay for consecutive nights can also participate in a kkimchi-making experience to taste the flavors of Korea.

Guests have exclusive access to 4 bedrooms, a large living room, 2 toilets with showers, a kitchen, a sun room, and a yard.
Bedrooms 1, 2, and 3 are connected to each other with the living room in the middle, and bedroom 4 is separated in a different space.

3. Toilets and shower rooms
There are a total of 2 toilets and showers in the property.
Restroom 1: It is located inside the main house (Anchae / Main House), and it is spacious, so it is good to use.
Bathroom 2: It is located in the annex across the yard. The space is somewhat narrow, but you can take a shower.
4. Heating system
It operates with a Korean-style ondol heating system, and the floors of all bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and toilet are heated warmly 24 hours a day.
5. Using hot water
Warm water is supplied 24 hours without interruption in all showers, toilets, and the kitchen.
6. Air conditioner and ventilation
We installed air conditioners mainly in areas necessary for the healthy and pleasant ventilation of guests.
Air conditioner installation locations: Bedroom 1, living room between bedrooms 2 and 3, kitchen (3 units in total)
Each bedroom has an additional individual fan.
Dongchonjae has a front yard and a backyard, so it is well-ventilated and cool, and you can have a pleasant stay without worrying about humidity.
7. Kitchen appliances and cooking
You can freely use the fridge, electric kettle, and microwave in the kitchen. However, for safety reasons, the gas stove in the kitchen cannot be used. (Cooking is not allowed)
8. Free parking information
You can park one car for free at the entrance of Dongchonjae. If you are bringing a vehicle, please inform the host in advance at least one day before check-in for smooth guidance.
9. Laundry and drying instructions
You can use the washing machine in the property freely. After washing, you can let it air dry on the drying rack in the Dongchonjae yard, where there is plenty of sunlight and breeze. If it rains or the weather is cloudy, making it difficult to dry in the yard, please let the host know, and we will help you use the dryer provided in a separate area.
Other things to note
■ Infant standard
According to Airbnb standards, infants are under 2 years old,
Dongchonjae recognizes only children under 12 months of age as infants, and this applies to one person only.
For infants, supplies necessary for infant care (food, spoons, bath towels, disinfectants, etc.) are not provided separately.
Children over 12 months of age are considered regular guests and will be charged.
Please be sure to enter the correct number of guests, including children, when making a reservation.
(The free infant standard is based on the check-in date, and if necessary, we may request a date of birth confirmation such as a family relationship certificate or passport.)
■ Based on the number of guests
The maximum number of guests is 7, including infants and children.
To maintain a pleasant accommodation environment, we do not recommend group stays of 7 adults (including teenagers). Please adhere to the appropriate number of people so that you can have a more comfortable time.
Up to 2 children under 6 years of age (5 years of age or younger), including infants and toddlers, can be accommodated. These are the characteristics of a traditional hanok and standards for a pleasant stay, so we kindly ask for your understanding.

For breakfast, you can choose between Korean or Western-style options.
To ensure smooth preparation, the same menu will be served to each team (group). Please understand that individual menu choices may not be possible.

Rice and a carefully prepared soup/stew or traditional dish (ttokguk, noodles, etc.) are served, depending on the situation on the day.
{Western Style}
Bread, orange juice, coffee, and hot traditional tea are also provided.

■ Infant Policy (Dongchonjae Standard)
Airbnb defines infants as children under 2 years of age.
However, at Dongchonjae, only children under 12 months are considered infants.

Kindly be advised that baby care essentials, including food, utensils, towels, and sterilizers, are not available at our facility.
Children 12 months or older are counted as regular guests, and additional charges apply.

■ Maximum Occupancy
The maximum occupancy is 7 guests in total, including infants and children.
To maintain a comfortable and serene environment, we generally do not recommend bookings for groups of 7 adults (including teenagers). We kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to an appropriate group size so that you can enjoy a more relaxing and spacious stay.

Breakfast is a simple, home-cooked meal carefully prepared by the host of Dongchonjae as a complimentary service for our guests.
[Breakfast Types]
You can choose between a Korean-style or Western-style breakfast.
To ensure the best quality and service, the entire group must select the same menu. We kindly ask for your understanding that combining items from different menus is not allowed.
Korean Style: A seasonal meal consisting of rice with a carefully prepared soup/stew or traditional dishes (such as tteokguk or noodles), depending on the fresh ingredients available that day.
Western Style: Bread, orange juice, coffee, and a selection of warm traditional Korean teas.

Breakfast is served once per stay for the entire group, and all guests will be served the same menu.
