Birdsong Creek Pony Retreat is a family-friendly way to visit the Sierras and have your fill of mountain life in a completely private apartment that sleeps three and shares walls with our main house. Free 20 minute pony ride (riders 65 lbs and under) or free 10 minute chair massage for our winter guests. Come pet our two ponies and new filly (baby girl horse), gather chicken eggs, listen to (or watch as your kids catch!!) the frogs in the seasonal creek. This large bedroom has a private entrance, attached bath, mini-fridge, toaster oven and coffee maker, WiFi access (VERY reliable but not 100%- we are in the mountains!), Netflix, a king-sized bed and a love seat that converts to a pull out twin bed. Relax on over an acre of green grass, bordering the back end of the agricultural department at Yosemite High School, and walk onto campus to enjoy their gigantic (seasonal) pool or tennis courts. Just a mile from the closest grocery store, feel far enough away to experience peace, but close enough to town to quickly pick up something you forgot at home. We have two outdoor dogs that occasionally bark to protect our animals. We pay close attention to them. They are a couple hundred feet from your room. We have an outdoor cat that is friendly too.
Bass Lake was voted Best Lake by Sunset Magazine, and is down the road about 6 or 7 minutes. You can rent a boat to fish or waterski, swim in the warm water, or soak in some sun on the plentiful beaches. The southern entrance to Yosemite National Park is about 25 minutes away. Yosemite is a premier destination for rock climbers, and has spectacular waterfalls. It boasts lots of opportunities for families to get involved with rafting, nature programs and group campfires.
We love sharing our home with others, and have had visitors from France, Austria,Colombia, Korea and the Netherlands to name a few. We look forward to hearing from you. Jay and Lori

Lori, Jay, and their kids are just awesome! With the Government Shutdown of 2013, I was so sad that I would not be able to see Yosemite. Lori did her very best to help me find alternative activities for my trip, like Bass Lake and Nelder's Grove. I loved their orange tiger kitty too, he was such a talker and eased my nerves about traveling alone for the first time. Also, everyone in town was so helpful and sweet to me. There was even a lady at one of the Pharmacies I went to twice to get things I left at home who always said, "Well, hello again, Miss Boston". I hope the shutdown won't effect them too badly, things like this shouldn't happen to such wonderful people. Thank you so much, Lori and Jay for making me feel better about a tough situation; and working so hard to help me make the most out of my trip.
A nice family is waiting for you there, among some dogs, cats and horses, in a huge property. The room is confortable with an unbelievable big bed which is very welcome to relax your legs and back after a long walk in the Yosemite Park.
It is really a nice place and very conveniently located close to the park.

We stayed at Lori's place for three nights when visiting Yosemite park.
The room is part of the house, but you have a seperate entry from the side and you can enjoy total privacy.
The room was perfectly clean and very comfortable for two. With big and comfortable bed, TV, fridge... the bathroom is worth 5 star hotel - very nicely decorated, several (soft!) towels provided.
There are animals behind the house - horses, goats cats and dogs. Overall atmosphere is very pleasent and relaxed.
Lori and her husband are excellent hosts!
Oakhurst in general is very nice small city - there is everything : shopping center - for food Vons is the best, restaurants etc.
Yosemite park is in 20 min, the valley - 1h30.
Pleasant stay with gracious hosts. Really appreciate some area information that was promptly provided before my arrival, and which aided with some travel research I was doing.
We stayed at Birdsong for a night on our way into Yosemite. We were greeted by Lori's husband who was very welcoming. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean and spacious. Overall it was a good place for us to stay along the road.
I was coordinating a wedding in Bass Lake, and needed a place that wasn't too expensive to stay in. Lori's home fit the bill perfectly. It was quiet, close to Bass Lake, and (icing on the cake) the room has it's own, separate entrance, so when I came back late from working the wedding, I could just slip right into my room without disturbing anyone.
The bed was comfy and there are lots of amenities fit into the room, which is a pretty good sized room. Lori is very nice, accommodating, and unobtrusive. Great place to stay for a getaway.
We spend 3 days at Loris place. It was nice and clean. It takes about a hour to drive to Yosemite valley so don't drive to late.
We had a great stay in this house in Oakhurst. It was well located for trips to Bass Lake and Yosemite.
The hosts were very kind and helpful in checking us in and seeing whether we required anything further during our stay. An enjoyable stay.
Lori was very welcoming, giving us restaurant and Yosemite trail recommendations. The room has everything needed for a relaxing and pleasant stay.
We enjoyed stay at Birdsong Creek Ponies for two nights while visiting Yosemite National park. It was clean and cozy. Hosts were very helpful. We will return again if an opportunity arises.
