The rental looked exactly as it does in the photos. It is close to the Ralph subway station. We did not interact very much with Teia and Alley, but they were available by text message and (website hidden) (They kept us updated on whether as there was a winter storm during our visit). Overall, it was a great stay. Thank you!
Unfussy space. Bossy hosts. The space is nice, however my experience with the hosts was not one I’d wish anyone to have. Over the course of my stay I received over thirty e-mails from them for ridiculous stipulations regarding my friend’s dog, how we were treating the space, and other neuroses. My friend has a dog. The first day we left her by herself she barked for five hours. I received ten e-mails. I apologized profusely, and the dog was never left alone. It’s not even my dog, but I am instinctively apologetic. They felt it necessary to demand that because the dog drank water out of one of the bowls that I buy them new ones. The towels in the apartment were dirty so how do I know the sheets were clean as well? Someone could have had sex on them prior, folded them and placed them back in the linen closet. But that’s was not what bothered me the most. I paid 1,900 in advance, but because they are very mistrustful and suspicious, Alley decided to ask for my credit card and took it from me to take a picture of it. Without my permission. I would never take a picture of someone’s card. It’s an invasion of my personal information and making a charge to it without my permission is the equivalent to going through my drawers and taking cash because “I owe you money”. Apparently in the past they have had people “leave” and not pay. Which is hard to believe since they live just below the flat and you must pay in advance to stay anyway. Plus, we had six suitcases and a dog. And I do not act cagey or treat people with the assumption of guilt. Perhaps that’s how they’ve been treated, but to carry that with you and project it on to your guests is hostile. All of my requests regarding the plumbing, the heat, and the few complaints I had were disregarded. I was even hung up on by Alley mid sentence. When I handed over the cash I made sure they deleted my card from their phone. They seem desperate for money and I personally am ashamed to have spent so much money on people who did not possess any equanimity or equality of compassion or respect. When I left late I sent them an e-mail requesting a receipt and Teia did not respond with it. Which was very shady, because I need a record that I paid her an additional 615 for my personal finances. She did have time to plug her soap website. I also e-mailed her concerning my experience and dissatisfaction, which she has a right to be aware of, and if she could please stop sending me so many e-mails. She was incredibly affronted and began insulting me and my friend and claiming I should “pay her” when she had just e-mailed me regarding sending me a receipt over the weekend. I had cosmetic surgery and...
We Arrived late at night and we had difficulties with contacting the host via e-mail for probably Ohly technically reasons, but when we called Teia ske answered right away! We took a cab from the airport and it cost 40 dollars to the appartment and took about 20-30 minutes! The appartment was just as described! Teia greated is when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful! It took about 30 minutes with subway to get into central Manhattan and The nearest subway station was a 10 minute walk from The appartment! We had some difficulties with The toilet and the radiators mostly because we weren't used to them Being old and sensitive, coming from Sweden we didn't Even think about that The houses were older in The US. It was a safe neighbourhood and we had a great time. I would definitly recommened this to anyone Wanting a priceworthy accomodation while visiting New York.
We really enjoyed our stay! The apartment was quiet and comfortable and the neighbourhood was great too! Teia was very helpful, she gave us some good tips and let us check out late! Thank you!
I had a great stay at the Decatur Street. We checked in quite late as our flight was arriving late in the evening and it was not a problem. The place looked exactly as described and I absolutely enjoyed the character of the house and the neighbourhood. Teia was great and helpful. The Ralph Av subway station is close to the apartment but I would recommend using Utica Av (which is a little further) as I felt slightly unsafe at the Ralph Av in the late evening (however, we didn't have any unpleasant experience, so it can be just personal impression).
