We live in the heart of McKinney’s Historic District. In addition to seeing the many older, picturesque homes in this area, we are a short 10 minute walk from McKinney’s Historic Downtown Square. Many of our guests enjoy the variety of restaurants, entertainment, and unique stores on the Square.
McKinney is 30 miles north of Dallas. Access to North Dallas is about a 25-30 minute drive on US75 or new tollways. We are long-time Dallas and McKinney residents, so we can assist guests with directions and suggestions for attractions, entertainment, restaurants, and shopping in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

This was my 2nd stay at Gary and Mary Jo's guest house over the holidays, and I wasn't disappointed. The guest house was immaculately clean, set up with everything you would ever need, plus some wonderful extras like a welcome bottle of wine! The guest cottage was so homey and relaxing - I look forward to staying there again next year!
Gary and Mary Jo have the sweetest little guest house and were the best hosts. They had a bottle of wine (which was greatly needed!) and the place was as quaint as could be. I only got a chance to sit on the porch once, but it was so relaxing! Best little place in McKinney if you ask me!
Gary and Mary Jo were great hosts and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We had a wonderful time! Thanks again.

A charming guest house that is well-furnished and spotless. The bed is comfortable, bathroom stocked with plenty of towels and amenities and the kitchen had everything we needed. Gary and Mary Jo thoughtfully supplied tea/coffee, bottled water and a welcoming bottle of wine. The guest house is tucked away behind their own vintage home in a quaint neighborhood, walking distance to historic downtown McKinney. The area was very quiet and Mary Jo and Gary were great hosts--left us to our privacy, yet invited us to spend some time with them on their lovely front porch to enjoy a summer evening.
Gary and Mary Jo were exceptional hosts! The guesthouse was comfortable and completely stocked with anything you could possibly need. The A/C was cold and the WiFi was fast. Gary and Mary Jo were kind enough to take us on a Sunday evening stroll through downtown McKinney, which we enjoyed. We definitely recommend their guesthouse to anyone looking for a place to stay.
Gary & Mary Jo's Bungalow is a charming, welcoming and comfortable residence that we were very pleased to find and would be very pleased to stay in again. Every aspect of the bungalow was clean, neat and orderly, and for 500 square feet, it was both spacious and well-equipped with current amenities. Our stay celebrated our first few nights as husband and wife, and our sense of peace, quiet and privacy was superior. It was wonderful to experience these qualities while also knowing that Gary and Mary Jo were nearby if we had any questions or concerns. Our hosts were very gracious, kind and cooperative, always communicative and helpful. They also left for us a very thoughtful gift: a bottle of Texas wine! Thank you both for a wonderful few days and nights in McKinney!
This town is AMAZING! We loved McKinney and part of what made us love it was this cottage and this couple! They were so welcoming and kind, with tons of info on the area and terrific restaurant recommendations in McKinney. (Siciliy's, Snug, and Square Burger are a MUST have!) The cottage was cool, clean, and so comfy (we love the couch) with a full kitchen and a laundry. Convenient to the Historic Downtown, we walked the neighborhood most days to get to the shops. One beautiful memory of McKinney is sitting on the main house front porch with Gary and Mary Jo, chatting about life and learning about the area. We love this place and WILL BE BACK!
I stayed with Gary and Mary Jo for a business trip. They treated me like I was a family member coming to visit. Their hospitality and kindness were top notch. The house was very clean and if I needed anything they made it well aware that they were there to help with any needs during my stay. The neighborhood is great and one of a kind, I travel a lot and rarely run into neighborhoods like McKinney. Everything I needed was within walking distance. If you are staying in the Dallas area I would highly recommend staying with Gary & Mary Jo. I hope I can stay here again on my next visit!
wow what a fantastic place to stay Gary and Mary have thought of everything and are so helpful they made us feel at home straight away we love America and we love Dallas and Mckinney we will be back and we would love to stay with Gary and Mary again

Mary Jo and Gary were the most wonderful hosts and the guest house was so lovely.
It was exactly what my boyfriend and I were seeking.
It is very close to downtown Mckinney - just a 5 minute walk and they were very pleased to offer suggestions for places to go depending on what we were looking for.
The house was clean, well supplied with cooking facilities and had a comfortable bed. Mary Jo and Gary very kindly left us provisions for breakfast and a bottle of wine which we most appreciated after our long flight from Australia.
We also shared a wonderful dinner with them on one night, which was amazing! They are both wonderful cooks!
