Our impeccably clean architecturally relevant, vintage inspired modern living and design loft space. We've built and found most of what you see in the images and is a direct view into our design taste and lifestyle.
Unique spacious designer loft in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. We hand-built and salvaged the majority of the furnishings within our exceptionally well-organized and clean space.
There are also several amenities available within our secure, gated community, including a pool, laundry facilities, outdoor table tennis, an outdoor fire pit, a gym (for an additional fee), WiFi, and Factory Kitchen (restaurant/bar). Feel free to put in your breakfast preferences prior to your arrival, and we'll be sure to have the fridge and pantry stocked. We also have a giant projected movie theatre in the living area with access to Netflix and Hulu Plus, and our personal reading library that you are welcome to use.
When you arrive, we can also provide you with maps, guides, etc. and can give you plenty of suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and attractions. Nearby, you can find these places within walking distance: Hammer and Spear, 12345 Clothing, Stumptown Coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee, Urth Cafe, Daily Dose, Church & State, Little Bear, Villain's Tavern, Tony's Saloon, Pizza Nista, Fifty Seven, Bread Lounge, American Apparel Factory, Wurstkuche, Pie Hole, Zip Sushi, Angel City Brewery, Sci-Arc, One Eyed Gypsy, Little Tokyo, and Chinatown (if you don't mind walking a bit further). There are also tons of loft buildings/warehouses nearby that have been seen in numerous t.v. shows (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, New Girl, Mad Men, Brooklyn Nine Nine etc...) and movies. While walking down the streets, I'm sure you'll recognize quite a few of the locations.
Street parking is always available and FREE (which is incredibly unusual for Downtown LA)! And there are also public transit stops nearby.
This space is also available for location services, such as photo shoots, filming, and small events.
Finally, please be aware that this loft is also home to two friendly, well-behaved, clean indoor cats, Petrie and Captain and a sweet dog Archibald "Archie" (border collie lab mix) who are also gracious hosts and love meeting new friends.
Our loft and all the amenities our wonderful building has to offer!
Interaction with Guests
We are always open to holding a great conversation if our guests are, and also available to show them around our amazing tight-knit neighborhood!
The Arts District has been on the rise for years now and more than ever has become a destination place not only in LA but around the world. The small 2 by 7 block area is abundant with creatives of all types.
Public transit is very accessible both bus and train, as well as Uber taxi's. We'll gladly recommend our choice of travel anywhere in LA.
Be aware that this is a loft, which means an open-air space.
We usually go to bed around 12 or 1am. We generally aren't bothered by noise, so don't feel like you need to follow the same sleep schedule as us. As long as you're being respectful and making an attempt to keep the noise level low, we don't mind. But if you're going to be bothered by the t.v. volume on until midnight, then this might not be the place for you.
If you hate cats or dogs and are highly allergic to them, this also might not be the place for you. We are slightly allergic to cats, but we clean often enough that it doesn't bother us.
When you arrive, we'll probably set-up a bathroom schedule just for the early morning so that we're not in each other's way.
Neil and Ashley were the most wonderful hosts! I felt like I was staying with friends, not off by myself in the city alone. The space is beautiful and comfortable, and the hosts are quite possibly the best. The dog was delightful and silly. The cats were quiet and sweet (and one of them matches the decor perfectly...neat trick, guys!). I would absolutely stay with them again, and highly recommend their space to any traveler.
Staying at Neil and Ashley's was a great experience. Made me feel at home and comfortable as soon as I stepped in the door. They were understanding and extremely helpful with my situation, and staying at there's gave a great taster of downtown LA. Would highly recommend to anyone!
My interactions with both Neil and Ashley were limited due to my NYE plans, however Neil was extremely courteous and welcoming upon arrival to their spot and they were very accommodating with their check-in times as well.
We had a wonderful stay at Neil and Ashley's apartment! They were out of town for the weekend, but communicated with us extremely well and had a friend give us the key. The apartment was spotless, and the cats were friendly and adorable. The location was wonderful with so many good restaurants and taco trucks nearby. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
Spot on. The photos don't really do this place justice! I'll be back again soon. Really great neighborhood, cool, eclectic and clean space. Neil was very laid back, really accommodating - a great guy.
Accommodations are as described, part of a large and comfortable loft in the Arts District. Neil and Ashley are very gracious hosts that do everything to make the stay a very enjoyable experience, including excellent coffee, savory scrambled eggs for breakfast and great conversation. Archibald, the dog and the two house cats are also part of the experience.
Neal and Ashley are the bestest ever!!!
They were so sweet, helpful and even made me a smoothie for the morning :-) couldn't be any better!!!
The whole neighborhood is really arty and has many great places to go out!
I would def stay with them again!!!
We are an optimistic, cultured husband and wife living in the Arts District in Downtown L.A. Neil is a creative director, visual and fashion designer. He owns his own company selling high-end clothing, eyewear, and accoutrements. Ashley works at the UCLA Center for World Health as an assistant for health programs in developing countries. Neil is the creative, sociable type, and Ashley is the scholarly, introverted type. As two quite different individuals, we truly complement each other's interests and passions. But the one interest we both share is to travel and experience diverse cultures from across the globe.
