Located in Markleevillage which is Pop. 197, surrounded by nature, one mile up Hot Springs Road from town on the left. Alpine County is Peaceful, wild and beautiful. Our house is on your right, about 50 yards away. There is a dome house on the left of you, about 25 yards away, unnoccupied at this time. We are rated Frontier! Some cell phones don't work. NO TV NO CABLE NO INTERNET.(well, if you are sitting at the picnic table you can get internet...) Huge movie collection on tape and dvd! Just a basic cabin. Like camping, with a bed and a roof. Three night minimum for holidays and deathride. Small, rustic, cozy little cottage right on the creek in Markleeville, Alpine County on Hot Springs Road. Big sunny deck with patio table and chairs. Cozy nooks to read or write that book. Full size bedroom with comfy queen bed. carpet. Tiny livingroom and equipped kitchenette with small fridge (no freezer) woodstove. charcoal bbq. Lots of trees. Aspens, pines, firs, junipers, pinion, etc. Beautiful views of the mountains, forests and creek. Large gardens with lovely spots to relax by the water. Usually very quiet and peaceful (there are water, (creek is very loud in the spring) bird, chicken, teenage rooster, cow and wild animal noises, this is a village...there are neighbors across the creek with children, and people with a weekend cabin who occasionally talk business loudly on their cell phone on the deck since covid (please make it go away!)and once a year have a party. ) Sorry we no longer allow dogs s as their owners sometimes didn't watch them and they ate too many chickens and our bathroom door, and now that we advertise as pet free we have guests with allergies. No pets. 3 miles down the road to Grover Hot Springs State Park, 20m from Tahoe and Kirkwood. This is the California Alps. Leave the cabin and and hike for hundreds of miles in any direction. Fishing, biking (home of the Deathride and Alta Alpina) hiking, bird-watching, paint, write, ski, etc. Wildlife galore. Please be aware that this is the mountains. Be ready for weather, bears, deer turkeys, (they are nice) mice, bugs, animals, livestock wandering, often no internet and cell phone, bad decorating, . Adorable historic town dating from 1800. Total privacy...self check in and self-check out. Great de-stress getaway. Soak in the Hot Springs. Have a drink and the best burger on the planet at Sandy's MarkleevilleToll Station. Rage, boat, golf, ski and loose all your money at the casinos in Tahoe. Golf in Tahoe, Minden or the Carson Valley half an hour away. . In winter, please carry chains and a shovel and warm clothes and be prepared for the mountain driving and living...power outs, animals, storms, cabin fever, ice (watch your step!) snow, bears, insects, animals and rodents of all sizes. This is a cabin in the mountains! no tv, texting and cell phones usually work. we do not promise internet but there is also free wifi downtown at library and at state park Check in 3pm check out 11. Thanks! Winter Update: We are in an area rated Frontier. We are high in the mountains with heavy winter storms, snow and ice. The power may go out during or after a storm. Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you, or if you need anything or have any suggestions to make our cottage more inviting. I strive to closely resemble a sane and reasonable human being at all times. Crazy Chicken lady. State Park Employee. Writer of disturbing short stories everyone hates. Happy Camper. Love these mountains. Thrilled to find any way to make your stay wonderful! It really makes me happy when I don't screw up and you have a great time, and am heartbroken if you don't, so let me know what you need!!! (Phone number hidden by Airbnb)

During your stay

Very private. We are shy and will hide from you unless you specifically want to see our faces! Call and we will we appear and do our best to supply you with whatever you need to make your stay perfect. Text or come over to 860 hot springs road and knock any time. Don't email us as we don't check it night and day. You can always call us if you need anything and we probably have ten of them.
