Other things to note
Cabin is uniquely nestled into the side of the many majestic rock outcroppings that are signature to this special mountain area. It is recommended to plan your arrival during the daylight making the adventure of finding the cabin a little easier. Cellular service becomes limited once traveling Elk Creek road but this is a great time to roll down the windows, breathe in the mountain air and enjoy the slow drive. There is a short distance on a dirt road as you near the cabin and the initial descent into the driveway is typical to the area but can feel steep to some drivers. Slow and steady will get you to the cabin located at the end of this short driveway, so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time. During Fall, Winter and Spring SUV's or other with 4WD is required and vehicles should have good clearance.

Neighborhood highlights

Sphinx Park is a very old subdivision that got its name from "Sphinx Head Rock" (which you can see outside our cabin) and has been a tourist destination for almost a century. Anglers from Denver and other tourist would head up the hill for not only fishing but cooler weather during the hot months of summer. Tourist's also come to enjoy the natural splendor of the area including Elk Creek Falls (located in Staunton State Park), Elephant Rock (at the bottom of Elk Creek Road) and other features such as Balancing Rock and Cathedral Spires.
