We had a really great stay at Casita Emmalia. Ross & Carla were very welcoming and great help to us. The casita was very well appointed with everything imaginable to make our stay enjoyable. We loved the garden in front and it was like an oasis. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly and the location itself was handy to many shops, restaurants and coffee spots. We hope that we can return again to Casita Emmalia next spring!
What a fantastic find! We recently spent a week at this charming casita on our first trip to Tucson. We found this to be a convenient home base and enjoyed the central location. The casita was extremely clean, had a very comfortable bed, the kitchen was well equipped w/ pots/pans, dishes and even olive oil/condiments/some spices, the living room space was more than adequate, and the private patio (perfect for am coffee and pm wine) had a lounge chair, cafe table/chairs and a gas grill.
Ross was friendly and warm without hovering and was quite flexible w/ check in. On the kitchen table. Ross had fresh fruit, snacks, coffee and a gift certificate for the local cafe, Raging Sage. He was always available via text and provided bikes/helmets for a ride and provided suggestions for jaunts in and around Tucson.
This was our first experience w/ Air BNB - which was quite a pleasant experience and we hope to return to Casita Emmalia on our next trip to Tucson!
PS - the scones at Raging Sage Cafe were the best we've ever had!
We definitely recommend Casita Emmalia! Ross was a warm host and spent a good deal of time with us when we arrived, answering our questions and giving us advice on everything we were looking to do during our stay. The location is great and very central to most of what you'll want to do in Tucson.
Thank you for providing a peaceful and warm retreat from our cold, white north. We thoroughly enjoyed the week here. Casita Emmalia is charming, very comfortable and relaxing. The neighbourhood is exactly what we were looking for and great to have such conveniences close by like the Raging Sage Coffee, Oasis Yoga, Plaza Liquors, Bookman's, and more.
Our stay at the adorable casita was very enjoyable. While seemingly small, it isn't lacking in storage or amenities for two people. The private patio is nice for relaxing and the front yard and little patio are welcoming. The neighborhood was quiet and the casita is conveniently located within walking distance to many places on Campbell or Grant. Ross was a gracious host, although we barely saw him or his family. We would definitely consider Casita Emmalia for our next stay in Tucson.
Thus is an incredibly sweet casita in an ideal Tucson location. Ross and Carla were welcoming and available, but we were very independent. I will look forward to staying here again the next time I am in Tucson!
Ross and family were great, amiable hosts even decorating the place for Christmas as we arrived on Christmas Day. There were fresh fruits, granola bars and freshly ground coffee from the Raging Sage - a local coffee house nearly- on the table. If there were any questions we felt comfortable in giving Ross a call.
Casita Emmalia is a cozy, clean, and bright small open concept one room "apartment" with a separate bath, change and storage area. There is a comfortable couch and arm chair to read in. The kitchen is well equipped with full size refrigerator, stove top. toaster oven, microwave ,coffee maker and round table for 2. So, we were able to make our breakfast daily and other meals as well. The shower was great; the bed was comfortable. The Casita is located on a quiet safe side street close to main streets, the University of Arizona and shopping as well as a bank. The front yard is welcoming with green grass, a meditation corner where birds like to congregate. All lovely. At night the place is lit up with tiny white lights - easy to find if coming home late. All in all a great place to stay. Definitely recommended.

About the Host, Ross
I have been teaching in the public school system here in Tucson for the past 28 years. My wife is also an educator at the University of Arizona. We have two amazing daughters, 15 and 13, who are the focus of our lives. We have been renting our guesthouse, Casita Emmalia, as a vacation rental for the past 8 years. We love meeting new people, building relationships, and welcoming return guests each winter season.
Over the past three years, we have been working hard to restore a historic Spanish colonial 4-plex near the University of Arizona. We have completely renovated the property inside and out and are very happy with the results. We now offer two fully furnished one bedroom casitas and two fully furnished 2 bedroom units on Airbnb. Check out our listings for Casitas Helena!
Since we have the summers free, we love to travel and explore new places.....especially places by water because we have so little in Arizona.
One of our favorite places to spend time is Bolinas, California.....great beaches and hiking....and so close to San Francisco, our favorite American city! We have also recently discovered Telluride, Colorado and have spent the past few New Years skiing and enjoying the beauty of the west slope of the Rocky Mountains.
