This is the 3rd room offered at our home. It is very accessible for folks with a little challenge moving about.
It includes parking at the door, a ramp to the door, 36 inch entry door and curb-less shower with 4 grab bars.
If you choose, you may walk around the house and sit on the back deck or the crabbing dock on our tidal creek.
Kayaks are available on loan.
You will find yogurt and fruits in your room and a K-cup coffee maker.
The room is approximately 159 square feet including the bath.

The space
Our home is conveniently located about half way between Charleston and the beach (Folly).

Peter Demetre Sunrise Park and James Island County Park (home to the Holiday Festival of Lights every November and December) are each about 3 miles away.

The Charleston Tea Garden and The Angel Oak (the oldest living thing east of the Mississippi River) are located on nearby Wadmalaw and Johns Islands.

What We Offer

- a squeaky-clean room with private entrance and private bath with free fruit, yogurt, snacks, waters, coffee, tea, a personal mini fridge and a microwave. (Microwave is shared on the back deck.)

- a shared but beautiful back deck beneath 200 year old Grand Live Oaks

- a crabbing and shrimping dock where you may catch bait fish for that big expedition later in the day or you may choose to load into our free kayaks and explore the glorious marsh and tidal creek (at high tide).

-pets are invited for a $20 pet fee - our housekeeper says it takes her longer to clean a room following Fido's stay - Sorry.

Finally, we offer a friendly host who has local knowledge and a serene backyard setting with intrusions from very few other guests. (We only rent three rooms.)

We feel this makes us a little above average. Our price-point is exactly right for some folks. We truly wish you the best in finding your perfect getaway location.

Where you’ll be

Charleston, South Carolina, United States

This is called North Riverview subdivision or by the locals, Julian Clark Plantation. It's a fairly well kept secret to be as sleepy as it is yet close to everything.
We're squarely middle class, dog and people friendly.
You'll experience huge 200+ year old Live Oak trees on the property because this land was once considered too close to the marsh to cultivate, so no one bothered to cut them down. (Live Oaks are the strongest and longest living of the Oak family. The City of Charleston's Angel Oak Park on nearby John's Island is estimated to be between 600-1300 years old or to say it another way, the oldest documented living thing east of the Mississippi River.)

Hi. I'm Dan and I'm a semi-retired widower who hosts folks from all over the world. We look forward to meeting you.

I've spent most of the last 30 years in the biotechnology industry. I last worked for a group who manufactured DNA sequencers and its related chemistry and software.
Two decades ago I was involved (in a very peripheral way) in the Human Genome Project. I traveled extensively educating customers, installing/servicing instrumentation and leading teams who did this.
I've stayed in more than a thousand hotel rooms and dozens of B and B's.

I'm a life-long sailor of sailboats and small power boats, a former marine surveyor & USCG licensed 100 Ton Master. I've cruised the east coast and sailed some in the Caribbean; I may pursue that again if I ever truly retire.

As your room host, I try to find a way to improve your Charleston visit and then get out of the way. As your Kayak Experience host (airbnb.com/experiences/214215) I try to show you why I love where I live.

I hope you enjoy.

I'm home much of the time but will be in another part of the property. I respond to questions via the AirBnB messanger usually quickly.
Since we're in the midst of a global pandemic I make a contactless stay with me very practical.
Other guests will likely be on the property.
