JUST FOR 2 ADULTS, ABSOLUTELY NO CHILDREN/PARTIES/SMOKING/PETS (my wife is extremely allergic to pet dander). The Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage is perfect for Romantic Getaways, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Honeymoons, and special Occasions. It is, hands down, the most beautiful, immaculate, luxurious, spacious and secluded one bedroom cabin in Lake Arrowhead. The Cottage is located in one of the most beautiful and quiet canyons of Lake Arrowhead. The Cottage has been thoroughly remodeled.

The space
Established in 1922, our cottage is nestled on a secluded half-acre lot on the lush side of Lake Arrowhead among the dogwoods, cedars, maples, and pines at an elevation of 5,500 feet. Parking is easy and level - the cottage is reached by crossing a small seasonal stream on our own beautiful footbridge. It is conveniently located 3/4 of a mile south of Lake Arrowhead Village. If this cottage is booked, try our “Historic Hershey Cabin”, by searching for the name on the internet.

Our intent is to keep the cabin in top notch shape - Therefore it must be left in a neat and clean condition upon checkout. We charge extra for excessive cleanup.

During our recent major renovation, we installed porcelain tile floors, granite counter-tops, all new stainless appliances and a hi-tech central forced air heating system to keep you cozy. The cottage has been decorated by my wife, who is experienced in incorporating comfort and elegance in home decor. It is furnished with both modern furnishings and antiques, providing the creature comforts of modern day while maintaining the old-fashioned warmth of a traditional Lake Arrowhead cottage.

The focal point of the cottage is the exquisite fireplace, faced with hand-hewn, split granite boulders. It is accented by a rustic knotty pine log mantel and artisan hand-hammered, bronze fireplace doors. The beautiful gas log fireplace ignites with the push of a button. To the side of the fireplace is a high definition, smart flat screen TV with the super easy to use, voice activated Amazon Fire TV Cube. We provide Netflix, Amazon Prime, PBS, Acorn, etc. We have high speed internet. What a perfect place to snuggle up by a glowing fire and watch a movie!

The "Hobbit" bathroom, downstairs, has a beautiful back splash, custom lighting and a unique sink that has been carved out of a large granite rock. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities of home, and then some. A new washing machine and dryer are in the hallway upstairs.

The beautifully decorated bedroom suite has peaceful views of the canyon out the windows and cozy, upscale bedding on a top rated - medium firmness - Queen Memory Foam mattress. This elegant room has a vaulted ceiling, separate sitting area, and full-size closet. Relax after a day of exploring by taking a shower under the rain shower head in the newly remodeled master bathroom. The bedroom also has access to an outside deck which overlooks the canyon. The cottage has a charming front porch and a large side patio where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner while enjoying the scenery and the sounds of birds in the beautiful canyon. On a warm evening, relax in the chase lounges, sipping hot cocoa and marveling at the stars!

The cottage is situated on a very quiet road and is easy to find. It is surrounded by majestic old growth cedars (over 100 feet tall), dogwoods (that have beautiful flowers in the spring, and turn bright orange and red in the fall), pines, spruce, maples, and rhododendrons. Step back in time by crossing the bridge, and notice the custom milled knotty pine siding, heavy timber moldings and beautifully crafted, massive front door. You will have arrived at one of the most picturesque cottages, in one of the quietest canyons, in Lake Arrowhead. This is exactly why the original owners built here almost a century ago!!

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake, and you can't fish or swim in the lake. You can fish and swim in nearby Lake Gregory or Big Bear Lake. We provide an easy to use binder at the cabin, with our 12 favorite walks/short hikes in Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding areas. The binder provides maps, descriptions, mileage, estimated time, etc. For the more adventurous hikers, we provide books/maps describing hikes in the San Bernardino Forest.

The Lake Arrowhead area is a little hidden gem, with a quaint village, dinner theater (Tudor House), movie theater, wonderful local restaurants, and various shopping opportunities. If you are looking for a romantic get-away, or just a place to relax and have fun, this is just the place. Lake Arrowhead celebrates all four seasons - warm summer days, fall colors, snow in the winter, and a beautiful spring.

Our security system will be turned off prior to your arrival.

My wife and I look forward to having you as guests at the Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage!

Lake Arrowhead, California, United States

Our Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage, is in a fabulous location – in Burnt Mill Canyon, Lake Arrowhead. The canyon is filled with old growth cedars, firs and pines, in addition to the gorgeous dogwood trees with their flowers and autumn colors. When it rains or snows, it creates a small seasonal creek that goes underneath our 35 ft. foot bridge. The cottage itself is like a postcard picture – just what you think a cottage should look like. The road outside the cottage is lightly traveled.

About us: My wife and I were married over 40 years ago. We love going on vacations, especially to the mountains - both of our grandparents owned cabins in Big Bear and Crestline. We recently retired, my wife was an elementary school teacher (she now does interior redesign). I was an accounting manager (I do property management on the side). We love the outdoors - hiking, kayaking, biking etc. Why did we buy 2 cabins in Lake Arrowhead? We were visiting Lake Arrowhead Village getting an ice tea at MacDonald's, when our son spotted an add for a one bedroom cabin at a local realtors. We weren't even looking for a cabin - but after checking out over 50 cabins we chose the "Hershey Cabin", our first cabin, because we liked the old cabin feel, the quiet location, and the lush trees on the property. The property, which was originally owned by members of the Hershey (chocolate) Family as a simple hunting cabin, was in major need of repair. My wife and I spent the summer and fall remodeling and renovating the cabin from the ground up. We saved the redwood and knotty pine interiors which give the it the classic 'cabin' feel. A year later we decided to buy our second cabin, the "Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage". We purchased it because of its gorgeous location as well as its beautiful design. After 3 months of repairs and upgrades, we had it up and running!
