Welcome to the nation's capital--we love it here and we want to help you enjoy it too!
A spacious efficiency, basement apartment complete with a private bathroom, mini-fridge, and microwave. Ever go traveling, eat at a great restaurant and be bummed you have no place to stash your leftovers...we have...so we thought the mini-fridge would be nice for you. We'll stick some drinks in there for when you arrive, and a few snacks to get you going. Tea and instant coffee? Yes, you'll have that too.
We have a beautiful corner lot row house in NE Capitol Hill, a few blocks from the budding H ST NE neighborhood ((website hidden)) close to multiple bike share racks (one block to the closest (website hidden)) about a mile/2km to the Capitol building, Union Station, and Eastern Market, respectively
Who we are:
Adam and Jen are your hosts. Adam works a government job by day and makes custom hardwood furniture by night and weekend ((website hidden)); Jen is a Physician Assistant by day and has built a beautiful garden in our yard, sews, and does all sorts of crafty things. Our dog, Britta, l(phone number hidden)es people; but if you don't love dogs, we can arrange to ensure she doesn't get in your way.
What else you should know:
Adam's woodshop is adjacent to the room...don't worry, he doesn't work too late (not past 8pm, not before 8am, and often not even with noisy power tools). Besides, we added some sound proofing to the adjacent wall. We can work out arrangements if you have particular sensitivities or needs on this front.
We have wireless internet; there is a TV and a Roku player for streamimng Netflix in the room...but we do not have cable.
If you're driving, let us know and we can work out a parking pass, or perhaps put you in our space (if you have a small car).
The washer/dryer are just through the door into our basement...if you need to use them, we can arrange that.
New queen size bed.

This was our first stay at an Airbnb property and it was a great first experience. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted by Adam and shown the room. It had everything we needed, and they even had snacks and drinks in the room for us to indulge on. The bed was comfortable and the heater worked perfectly and was a great escape from the cold outside. The room was spacious enough to fit our two large luggage and we still had space to move around. We accidentally locked the bathroom door and Adam was quick to fix it for us. The location is very convenient, about a 30 minute walk to the US Capitol and a short 5-10 minute walk to H Street where there are a bunch of great restaurants. We walked around at night and felt very safe, it was a very quiet and well lighted neighbourhood. Our stay at their property rivals our stay at other more expensive hotels. Thanks Adam and Jen!!
Pictures and Description are an accurate representation. The room is great, clean and cozy. It's on capitol hill near a bike share and union station, we couldn't take advantage because of the snow but uber worked well. Adam/Jen were flexible about check-in/out times and very responsive, they even suggested we arrive a day earlier to beat the snow which ended up being the right call. We also really enjoyed the snacks that they left it was a nice touch.
Adam and Jen's apartment was our first airbnb experience...and I think they've converted us. We loved their accomodation (clean and perfect location in a pretty neighbourhood) more than most of the hotels we've stayed at. They were organised, professional and thought about all the little things that would make a guest feel comfortable. We had our own entrance to the apartment and everything was a short walk away...restaurant, museums and monuments. Thank you Adam and Jen for making our Washington, D.C. experience an enjoyable one.
We loved the apartment, it's warm and cozy and we were able to walk to the Union Station and the Capitol in less than half an hour. Also the neighborhood is very nice and quiet, with lots of joggers and people who walk their dogs - and not so many cars. Adam and Jen even left us some snacks and drinks in the fridge, which we really enjoyed after our loooong ride on the Greyhound bus from Savannah to Washington :-)
We spent 3 nights in this apartment. It was really comfortable and cozy, and looked exactly as in the pictures. The apartment was really neat and clean, and perfectly warm - specially for the really cold temperatures that we had during those days. We didn't get to know our hosts in person, but they arranged everything so that we could find the place and enter perfectly. When we arrived we found that they had left some really good snacks which were excellent after travelling in the cold weather, along with espresso coffee and tea. Although it is not really far away from the main attractions (the mall and memorials), it might be a bit far away if you only want to walk. There is a bus that takes you to those places two blocks away from the apartment.
This was my first airbnb experience and it was a pleasant one, to say the least. The apartment, conveniently located within walking distance (about a mile) of both Union Station and the Capitol, was quiet and clean. The hosts gave me absolute privacy while assuring me that if I needed anything of them they were no further than a phone call away. Clean sheets, towels, and even soap awaited me in the apartment. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood full of runners and people walking their dogs -- my kind of area!
Whenever I'm back in D.C. this is the first place I will look up -- definite return customer.
Good room, great location by the national mall and all that good stuff. Adam and Jen are very helpful and easy to get in touch with.
We had a great stay at Jen & Adam's efficiency apartment! When we arrived, we were greeted by Jen who supplied us with all the information we needed and directions to the main attractions/local eateries. The apartment was clean and very suitable for our needs, and it was an easy walk to all of the monuments and the National Mall! Also an easy walk to Union Station. We were very happy with everything!
I stayed at this apartment for a few days around New Year's eve, it was great. The room is great, clean and cosy. It's on capitol hill so we used the bikeshare nearby to go to the Mall, other downtown areas and the subway, it's really convenient. We were also able to park the car on front of the place which is pretty convenient.
Finally, Adam was really flexible about check-in/check-out times and really responsive.
Adam & Jen's basement apt was perfect. They added a bunch of nice little touches to make the stay extra enjoyable like a mini fridge filled with drink and small snacks. They also have a TV connected to a Roku so I could keep up on my Netflix que. Really lovely place. Would recommend to everyone!
