Toad Hall's location is it's greatest asset. This corner of Prince Edward County is quiet, beautiful and easily accessible from Picton and the waterfront property allows for swimming, canoeing and sunset gazing.
The cottage itself is spacious and has a pleasant screened in porch overlooking the water. This is where we spent the majority of our time indoors. A good cleaning and airing out prior to our arrival, would have made the rest of the space more inviting and comfortable.
Toad Hall is a great spot, beautiful getaway. Lovely cabin with lots of room and full of charm located on a beautiful bay. Close to all that Prince Edward County has to offer. I didn’t meet Paul but he left us with instructions and everything we needed including a pass to enjoy Sandbanks Provincial Park.
We will definitely be returning!
We had the most wonderful week at Toad Hall. It was the perfect cottage experience; from eating summer fresh meals in the screened-in porch to diving off the private dock into the bay. The cottage interior is charming and clean with a great fireplace for cooler nights. The photos don't really do the place justice.
We made friends with a local mink who visited the rocks near the dock every evening and we canoed around the area to see a family of swans, a blue heron and a busy flock of yellow goldfinches or warblers. There are also many kingfishers and loons in the area.
Toad Hall is well situated, just down the road from Vicki's Veggies, a delightful roadside organic veggie stand where we bought heirloom tomatoes and blueberries almost every day. A short drive away are the cute towns of Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington, where there are little cafes, restaurants and a great bookstore. The host, Paul, was easy to communicate with and also provided us a pass to use at nearby Sandbanks provincial park where there are hiking trails and sandy beaches.
We absolutely loved our stay at Toad Hall and can't wait to come back again next year.
Toad Hall is a beautiful spot. The photos don't do it justice!
Nice, quiet, away from traffic.. private swimming dock. The cottage itself is adorable, with antique decor. The screened-in porch is perfect. Just make sure you bring plenty of drinking water.
Paul was great. Easy to communicate with, quick to respond. He helped us out quite a bit.

About the Host, Paul
Hi, my name is Paul. I am an artist and writer from Toronto, Ontario. I live near Little Italy and the Annex, in one of the nicest areas of the city. Apart from Toronto, I have lived in London, with extended stays in New York and Los Angeles.
I am an avid theatergoer and love to travel. I have traveled throughout Europe and the US, and have also visited Tunisia and Mexico. Brazil and Argentina are the next destinations on my list. Apart from English, I can attempt French and, if you’re patient, Spanish. Definitely not fluent, but almost enough to get by!
Having travelled a lot myself, I know how nice it can be to have a place that you can call your own while you are away from home. Welcome to my place, and I hope you have a wonderful time visiting Toronto. I will do my best to make your experience both comfortable and enjoyable. - Paul
