ā THIS HOUSE IS IN AN URBAN DISTRICT AND NOT IN A QUIET GATED COMMUNITY. THERE ARE MANY LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND BARS ALL LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE HOUSE, PLUS HIGHWAYS AND A TRAIN STATION SO IT CAN BE SUPER NOISEY!
Built in the 1950s, the Muncey House is a small 850 square foot bungalow house that feels fun and cozy. Itās a little hidden spot off the beaten path .8 miles from the Historic Pearl Brewery in a very old school historic veteran neighborhood with puro San Anto character!
The overall experience is like staying at a friend's house for an adventurous couple, bestie, or a single traveler looking to stay hyper central to basically everything cool in San Antonio. The Muncey is also super close to Fort Sam Houston Army Base. All of these spots below are less than 5 to 8 minutes away by car or by golf cart.

I decided to put this place on Airbnb because this house is pretty funky with a cultural history. It operated as a fresh tortilla factory in the 1950s until it was sold and converted into a residential home by a UTSA English professor in 2015.
Inside you'll notice the original rosewood hardwood floors, three large scale murals by local SA muralist Scotch Willington, a collection of old vinyl records, live plants, my personal photography, and a super cozy backyard patio for outdoor movies on the projector.
As mentioned above, I vibe here too in between bookings so you may encounter some of my personal belongings tightly put away during your stay, but if you need anything please donāt hesitate to reach out! Iāll be down the street in a different house.
You're welcome to cruise the golf cart to the Historic Pearl Brewery, speakeasy bars and neighborhood restaurants. Shoot me a message to receive the waiver form for access. Must be at least 25 years old to check out the golf cart! Thanks for staying with us!

THE MUNCEY HOUSE RULES:
1. (NO SMOKING INSIDE HOUSE) Smoking is ONLY permitted outside in the patio area ONLY. No smoking whatsoever inside the house. šššš
2. (NO PARTIES!) Yes, the Muncey House is a fun, cute house, but absolutely no parties whatsoever. PLEASE DO NOT INVITE YOUR FRIENDS OVER TO TAKE PICTURES, ETC. Only approved guests are allowed to enter this home. Iām so sorry! š©šš¤
3. (REMOVE SHOES) We kindly ask that shoes are left in the entrance room before stepping onto the white steps. šš½ If you can, please leave your big luggage in the entrance room. The bedroom is very small. The original rosewood floors are historic, and we want to keep them in the best shape possible for future guests. šš
4. (NO PETS) I'm a dog daddy, but unfortunately we cannot have pets in this house for liability reasons. ššš
5. (BE CLEAN AND RESPECTFUL) Do not trash the house! If you trash or damage or steal anything in the house, you will be charged by Airbnb and reported to local law enforcement. š„·š½ā¼ļø
6. (PLEASE DO NOT OPEN WINDOWS) If you feel warm inside the house, do not open the windows. Please use the thermostat to lower the AC. If the windows have been open, it may take many hours for the AC to cool the house. In other words, if you have the windows open while the AC is on, the ac will not function as normal and the AC will not be able to lower the temperature of the house to your liking. Please keep the windows closed while the AC is on.

Neighborhood highlights
Government Hill is an old urban historic neighborhood east of Broadway Street full of local neighborhood restaurants and cocktail bars walking and golf cart distance to Pearl Brewery and the River Walk.
This mix-income neighborhood is still gentrifying and there are a number of large scale multi-use construction projects underway like shopping centers and apartment complexes.
There are also a bunch of old broken down houses in this area that are being bought up by developers due to this location being so close to the Historic Pearl Brewery. You will see half million dollar homes next to $30,000 and $100,000 homes and so forth in our neighborhood. Yes, we even have a French castle in our neighborhood.
Please DO NOT book this house if you read this and are uncomfortable with this and then give us a bad review for location. We want to be very transparent that this old historic urban neighborhood comes with these caveats.
You may hear the sounds of the passing train, highway traffic, occasional bangs from Fort Sam Houston Army Base and general construction sounds in this area during the day and night.
