About This Listing
If you are looking for a peaceful, private refuge, then let us welcome you to your cozy cottage in the garden.
The cottage is perfect for 1 person but will accommodate 2.
We live in a quiet Burlingame neighborhood just 7 minutes from the San Francisco airport. The area is safe and easy to navigate. There is easy access to highways 101, 280, and 92. You're a healthful stroll (about 6 blocks) to Caltrain, charming downtown Burlingame, and the famous Nini's neighborhood restaurant. Just over a block away is a grocery store, drug store and a Starbucks.
The garden cottage is accessed through a private, lockable, gated entrance. You'll enjoy a very comfortable, full/queen european-style bed (not a futon), WiFi, HDtv/BluRay, infrared fireplace/heater that heats the cottage quickly, ironing board and iron, and organic plush linens, cozy spa robes and scuffs. Just beyond the side dutch-door (I call it our Mr. Ed door!) is an lovely patio with table, chairs, and a love seat inviting you to read, listen to the birds, and simply relax. The garden is lushly landscaped to provide privacy and a refuge for the urban wildlife. Street or driveway parking available for your convenience.
The bathroom is a detached, private space just adjacent to the cottage just 10 steps down a private, partially covered walkway. The privacy wall has a covered arbor for protection and during the rainy season we put up an umbrella for the last 3 steps to the bathroom. Please see pics for orientation. The bathroom is equipped with organic cotton towels, towel warmer, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and hairdryer.
Help yourself to organic coffee and teas, juice, farmers-market organic fruit and snacks. Snacks will be tailored to your dietary requirements upon request. Filtered water provided as well.
We also have a property in the lovely town of Sonoma should you ever find yourself vacationing in the Sonoma/Napa wine country.
We would love to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Thank you for your interest in the cottage and we hope we have the honor of hosting and meeting you soon!

Thank you so much for staying in The Garden Cottage!
Diane is very kind and the cottage is beautiful. My only issue was with the bed (a futon) which I found uncomfortable.
Diane met me when I arrived and immediately made me feel welcome. The cottage is located in the back yard of their home and is surrounded by beautiful landscaping and a peaceful setting. The description of the property is accurate. The cottage is comfortable for one, would have been tight for two (full-sized bed), and not appropriate for travel with small children. The neighborhood is upscale and provides easy access to Hwy 101. Would stay again if traveling alone.
If there was one word I had to use to describe the cottage space at Diane and Mike's, it would be 'perfect'. Everything from the beautiful garden to the comfortable bed to the coffee was perfect. Diane and Mike were very welcoming and made me feel at home. I was in the Bay Area for work, but staying at Diane and Mike's almost felt like a spa getaway (don't tell my boss). I'm looking forward to my next stay!
Very warm and cozy cottage and perfect place to get away.Diane was welcoming and helpful.
Both Diane and Mike were excellent hosts who made both myself and grandma feel welcome. I appreciated their hospitality and would recommend anyone to rent the beautiful cottage.
The cottage was awesome! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and we really enjoy the place. It is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. We have no problems getting to places. Before we arrived, there were concerns about our arrival time (since we drove from LA on the Easter weekend), but Diane was very helpful and patient. She insisted to meet us in order to show us around personally. They also helped us to dry our towels and washed our dishes everyday, and even wrote us little note to make sure we are being taken care of. Overall, it's a wonderful experience.
Very nice stay. Diane goes out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable.

About the Host, Diane And Mike
Mike and I both love being creative and like to build projects around the house.
We love going to concerts Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, KT Tunstall, Brandi Carlisle, Tony Bennett, Sade, etc. As you can see we have an eclectic taste in music.
Besides landscape designing I work for a model school that teaches children with movement disorders such as Cerebral Palsy. These children are delightful and amazing.
Mike is the building official for the Presidio Trust in San Francisco. If you've never been to the Presidio, it is a must.
We have one daughter and 2 grandchildren.
