His food has great reviews, traditional French home cooking with a fine dining twist. We grow much of our own produce organically on the potager where our hens scratch around, fluffy omelettes for breakfast are a house speciality.
Surrounded by wildflower meadows, mountains and lakes, the walking, cycling, mountain biking, bird watching, all from the back door, are fabulous. The village has a farm shop selling local produce, tree lined Chalabre is our nearest town, an easy 3km ramble or cycle for cafes, bars and shops.

Other Things to Note
The house is quirky with changes in levels and 1 or 2 places where you must mind your head. However, with a bit of care, even the very young and the very elderly have survived their holiday!
Have a lovely holiday in our traditional, French country bed and breakfast, enjoy the natural beauty of our region, and all it has to offer - and sample Nick's cooking, that's all!
Great B&B and perfect hosts. Caroline and Nick are eager to see that their guests truly enjoy their stay with them and experience the best that this beautiful part of France has to offer. They were extremely helpful with any advice and Nick's cooking was superb. Would highly recommend this B&B, and we will definitely be back.
Carolyn and Nick had made us feel at home from the very start of our stay.
They provided us with local maps for trekking, swimming aid for our daughter, picknick toolbox, and, and ....and had great suggestions for swimming in local lakes, for excursions and things to do in the wider area. And there is a lot to do, we staid for a week and had by far not completed our to do list. It was as well nice to come back from a long day trip and just stay there and enjoy Nick's excellent 4 course dinner and the peaceful tranquility of the place. The little village square in front of the house is an excellent place for reading a book or to meet other guests in the evenings and to enjoy a glas of wine or beer. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated with antique furniture, the bathroom large and nicely combining modern elements with antique. Carolyn and Nick were excellent and generous hosts and did everything possible to make our stay a great vacation. Thank you both very much, Carolyn and Nick.
This was our second time at Chez Maison Bleu and we enjoyed it very much again. Carolyn and Nick are great hosts. We felt very welcome and are still mesmerized by the little square. The area is so lovely and relaxing and I highly recommend it to people who want to get away from the city for a few days like us.
We spent a week staying with Nick and Carolyn in Sonnac in June. They were welcoming and very helpful hosts who knew the local area well. They had suggestions about where to go, we did several local walks which we would really recommend. The walking trials were well marked and mostly deserted, some along an old railway track, we were lent a map. Our room was traditionally furnished in French style, the bed was comfortable. The house had been fully renovated over several years. We particularly liked having a bathroom with both a shower and a bath after a days walking. Breakfast was taken on the terrace when warm enough and consisted of coffee, tea, fresh fruit, croisants, bread, preserves and fruit juice, timing for breakfast was flexible, there was a focus on local, seasonal incredients. We stayed for dinner on our fist night and enjoyed Nick's cooking. Wine and beers etc were available to buy. Wifi was availble. As well as rooms in their house Nick and Carolyn also have a gite for hire which we viewed, it looked lovely, maybe next time!
We had a very pleasant stay here for 2 nights. The B&B was very clean, comfortable and on a beautiful quiet location. Carolyn and Nick are very friendly and welcoming and we can highly recommend this place to you.
We live in the bubbly city of Barcelona and sometimes the noise can get a bit too much. My husband was taking pictures at a wedding in the area so I decided to go with him and relax in La Douce France with our greyhound Bertley. La Maison Bleu was everything we hoped for and the area is absolutely stunning. Carolyn and Nick took very good care of us, the food was delicious, the room very peaceful and the village very charming. Definitely also a big plus that they are so dog friendly. I can't wait to go back.
Nick and Carolyn are very warm and welcoming hosts who made our stay most enjoyable. The house has been well renovated, whilst retaining old French country character. Our bedroom was large, with a very comfortable bed, and views over the tiny village square. The neighboring church bells were cheerful, but don't ring at night so did not disturb our sleep. The bathroom was huge, and very well fitted, with good towels and toiletries, both a shower and a bath and plenty of hot water.
Nick and Carolyn offer optional meals-family style. We enjoyed sharing their meals ( fresh, well cooked and thoughful menus) and local wines, as well as the interesting conversations with other guests and the hosts. If you do not wish to take up this option you will have to drive out, as there are no restaurants, bars or cafes in Sonnac. This also means that the village is a perfectly calm and peaceful place to be.
Parking is easy and safe, close to the accommodation.
There are lots of good walks from Sonnac, but for other activities you will need to drive or cycle out. We found the local roads to be very quiet and safe, even though they look wriggly on the maps!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sonnac, and highly recommend Maison Bleue, as long as it is peace and quiet you are seeking.

About the Host, Carolyn
We have owned our house in the South of France for 6 years during which time we have carefully restored and transformed it into comfortable, stylish accommodation that retains its long French history and character. We offer a choice of self-contained 3 bedroom cottage or chambres d'hotes. We are informal, but attentive hosts and can offer you more than a glimpse of French culture in this unspoilt region of Languedoc.
Nick is cordon bleu trained but doesn’t mess with the food too much - it just doesn’t need it. Vegetables are grown organically on our potager, other produce is purchased fresh and local, organic where possible. Menus reflect the seasons and the sun-drenched flavours of Languedoc washed down with some very nice Pays d’Oc wines and Fitou and Corbiere ‘appellations’.We can accommodate any special dietary requirements including vegan and gluten and dairy free.
We hope to welcome you to our very French home nestling in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
