The Space

Our Hanapepe Hideaway is on the sunny, dry Westside of Kauai. Our BnB is lovely and spacious. It is a complete and private suite in the front portion of our large house. We live in the back portion of the house which is completely blocked and locked off. There are no shared areas. There is a private entrance for the BnB only. The suite has a covered front porch, a large living room and kitchen, a bathroom and bedroom. These delightful and comfortable accommodations are in a relaxing, convenient and very quiet neighborhood in the hills above Hanapepe town. Hanapepe is a quaint town known for its 16 local art galleries...a real artists' community. Our charming 1 bedroom has a NEW King Size pillowtop mattress bed and a full bath with a large kitchen & living room with a pool table and a large screen TV. We also have WIFI. There is a lovely covered and furnished front lanai all hidden behind a completely fenced and gated property. Parking is right outside the locked gate. Beach towels and toys are available including snorkel equipment, boogie boards and chairs. These attractive and spacious quarters are near beaches, Waimea Canyon and hiking galore. Coffee and Tea are provided and can be enjoyed along with all your other meals in your private and homey, spacious and pleasant, safe and well situated homestay waiting for you on Kauai.

A 5 minute drive from our BnB is Salt Pond, one of Kauai’s most popular swimming beaches and Port Allen, where many of the Napali Boat trips leave from. The well-liked Friday night Hanapepe Art Walk is just down the hill from us. This weekly celebration has the 16 local art galleries open in the evening from 6-9pm with local food, wine, music and festivities. Polihale State Beach Park is on our side of the island along with Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park which has the most extensive and accessible day hiking and camping on island. Hanapepe is also close to the Kauai Coffee Plantation with its visitor center and self-guided tour and Pakala’s, a popular surf spot. A local farmer’s market happens every Thursday in the Hanapepe town park. Hanapepe is near a variety of restaurants, a large grocery store, banks and laundromat. We are a 25 minute picturesque drive to the world famous south shore’s Poipu beaches and a 40 minute scenic drive to Lihue, our county seat, airport and main town.

Your hosts Candy and Cliff are world travelers who have been on this tropical paradise island for 12 years. Cliff is a Registered Nurse, Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Maste and Crystal Healer who has been practicing alternative health therapies for over 25 years. He offers on-site treatments that will knock your ‘slippers’ off. These treatments can be booked in advance or when you arrive. The treatments include outdoor shower, hot tub and Massage with Reiki in a Crystal Matrix.

Candy owns Aloha-n-Paradise, an art gallery, espresso bar and internet cafe in Waimea next to the Post Office, 7 miles west of Hanapepe. Please stop in for the best coffee on the island and local artwork on your way to Waimea Canyon, Kokee State Park and Polihale State Park.

We will be happy to give you information and tips on local places, activities, events and interests. Our friendly expertise of this lovely and soft garden island will enhance your visit. And our love for the ‘aina’ or ‘land’ will rub off on you like a good tan.

  • Very big house, not modern but clean and very well equiped. Good location to visit south area of Kauai, residential area very quiet. No intimacy in the bedroom as the window is off the patio were the owners could walk by. We didn't like that the owners left inside the house cleaning products and a vacuum cleaner, trespassing into the house the second day when we were outside

  • Candy and Cliff were amazing. They were super welcoming and made everything simple and fun. My husband and I got married on June 21st 2014 and we stayed at Candy and Cliffs house for our honeymoon. We arrived really late at night but Candy had our place ready for us with the lights on and a welcome sign on the door just for us. They brought us fruit a few different times and Candy gave us a very detailed rundown on all the great things to do during our stay. The price was well worth it and all we had to do was clean up before we left. But that was no big deal, and they had all the cleaning stuff there for our disposal. We will defiantly stay here again the next time we visit, (maybe out one year anniversary!)

  • Candy and Cliff's lovely house is in a quiet neighborhood in Hanapepe, a very quiet town. It was so relaxing to get fresh fish from the local market and cook in the enormous kitchen - there's so much space in the house, it could fit 4 more! We also really appreciated the use of all of the beach gear, which was very convenient to leave in the car all day so we could stop by every beach that caught our eye. The new large bed was also a major plus. Thanks for hosting us!

  • Nice cozy place to stay, very spacious, no complaints.

  • Very spacious, loved the big kitchen, king sized bed, and large living room. Excellent location with quick access to old town Hanapepe, the west side of Kauai and Poipu beach. Cliff was super friendly and helpful but also gave us our space. Appreciated the use of the boogie boards! The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because even though there were curtains on the sliding glass door, the bedroom location didn't feel the most private being off the patio where the homeowners could walk by.

  • Very spacious and well appointed lodging. The plantings around the house were very appealing. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and well kept. Hanapepe is an interesting town with an active arts and crafts community. The nearby beaches were the best that we saw on our trip. This part of Kauai was pleasant not too densely populated and had numerous natural attractions unique to the area.

  • We loved our accommodations at Candy and Cliff's place. It is an ideal location for exploring the south and west shores of Kaua'i, as well as Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park. The "heavenly hideaway" is very spacious and comfortable. It has a large kitchen with full size appliances (and even a Kuerig machine....awesome!) for all your basic cooking needs. They provide many extra amenities like snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. which were VERY much appreciated. Although, they both live on site we never felt for a lack of privacy. We are currently spending the second half of our trip on Kauai's north shore. It's very beautiful, but we miss the south and west shore, and especially the coziness of our "heavenly hideaway". In fact, we miss it so much we are both wishing we had spent more time there.

  • Cliff and Candy were gracious hosts, my wife and I enjoyed our stay in the bnb. After introducing herself, Candy provided valuable advice on how to plan our trip. Kalapaki beach was a gem of a discovery, thanks to her. The place is located at the south shore, with plenty of sunshine and good access to Waimea canyon to the west as well as the beaches in the east, and north shores. It is also pretty close to the Salt pond beach. We loved the privacy this place afforded us, and enjoyed quiet evenings at the lanai. The grill was definitely a plus, since there are not many options for eating out. The hosts also provided beach chairs, snorkel masks, and boogie boards. Overall a very positive experience, and I highly recommend their place.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Candy and Cliff's place for four nights. It was the PERFECT launching pad for our several adventure days of hiking up in waimea and snorkeling/enjoying the beach around salt pond and poipu. I seriously couldn't imagine trying to make that trip in a day from the north shore. Fantastic kitchen, large open space, there were a few bugs here and there (as expected with any island) but Cliff was super prompt to deal with it. The boogie boards, cooler and beach gear is also such a bonus and really fantastic. Would happily stay here again and highly recommend to any couple and or friends. This makes for a third airbnb experience that couldn't have gone any better- definitely a perfect choice for you Kauai vacation :)

  • Thanks much to Candy and Cliff for a fantastic, though way too short, trip to Kauai. Their place had everything we could have needed, was very spacious and comfy, close enough to Waimea for hiking and also beaches on South shore. It was a great choice for us and thoroughly happy in Hanapepe; nice neighborhood and can walk to town. Mar 2014

Aloha, We are Candy and Cliff. We are world travelers who have been on this tropical paradise island for 12 years. Cliff is a Registered Nurse, Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master and Crystal Healer. He offers on-site treatments that will knock your ‘slippers’ off. Candy is a retired English professor who has lived in 5 foreign countries and Alaska. (That's not a foreign country, just not part of the lower 48!) Both of us love nature, adventure, hiking, learning and laughing. Travel is always on our minds...because the world is a wonderous place. That is why we are a good match. We think Kauai is the best of all the Hawaiian islands and Hanapepe on the Westside is authenic, local, soft, easy and GORGEOUS. So, we look forward to sharing this paradise we call home with you.
