Wells Cabin @Weldan Pond is a beautiful new space designed for couples who love to relax, enjoy the outdoors (hike, fish, trail bike, & more), & marvel over beautiful views. The Cottage has a full kitchen, a large king bedroom, a bright, window filled sitting area, and a new deck overlooking Upper Weldan Pond and acres of healthy, natural hardwood forest with nearly 4 miles of trails to explore. You'll also love just enjoying the deck and the beauty of the Virginia countryside.

The space
Wells Cabin is private, modern & comfortable with everything you need for a great stay. Wireless Internet is furnished through RevGen Networks. You’ll find the wifi name and password on the router on the kitchen counter. We find that computer, music, and tv speeds work quite well and have plenty of Zoom meetings with no issues. The King bed is amazingly comfortable and the entire cabin is efficient, spacious, and designed to ensure that we'd be comfortable there ourselves. We know you'll love it. There is also a dedicated workspace with WiFi, desk chair, and area lighting.

If Wells Cabin is booked for the dates you want, please search AirBNB for Daniel Cottage, a two bedroom cottage over 100 yards away. There’s plenty of room at Weldan Pond for both groups to spread out and social distance with no effort at all.

Guest access
We supply you with a Property/Trail Map at check in and, except for a rational perimeter around our home and two buildings awaiting renovation and marked with signs, you have access to the entire 75 acres of forest, field, and pond. Hike, fish, explore - whether you stay on the trails or not it is all up to you. Find a favorite spot and relax as your silence gives comfort to native deer, fox, raccoons, and more. Spending time in the forest and communing with nature is something you’ll find soothing and relaxing at a deeper level than you thought possible. The Japanese call it Forest Bathing and say that a forest bathing meditation can lead to reduced stress, build peace, improve sleep, and even make relationships better. We can vouch for all that and more. Our advice is just to be present in the forest. Think about what you’re seeing & the beauty of the world you’re in at that moment. Let the peace you feel envelop you and it will last long after your ‘forest bath’.

Neighborhood highlights

Dinwiddie County is very rural and that's one of the things our guests love about being here. Still there's lots to do on site and off. For Civil War buffs, we're just minutes from Pamplin Park, Petersburg Battlefield Part at Five Forks, 15 minutes from Petersburg, and under 40 minutes from downtown Richmond. There's great fishing on either of our two ponds and great opportunities to Relax, Create, Connect, and Discover a wonderful, natural, rural world and the simple but stunning beauty around us here.

I'm a retired CEO from a mid-sized distribution company and my wife has done an amazing job of raising our best friends - our two adult daughters. I retired in mid-2016 and retirement has been wonderful but its been even better since our purchase and renovation of Weldan Pond. The property was Beverly's grandparent's and parent's place but had fallen into serious disrepair. Now we're enjoying it and inviting you to enjoy it, too. We've traveled in the US and Europe extensively but we've fallen in love with the country life as well. We'd love to show you around.
