This is our more private downstairs ensuite room for these Covid times. Your own entrance is accessed from our garden, and the room is separate from the main house. Breakfast comes on a tray to take on a table in your room (juice, cereal, toast, Lavazza coffee or Twinings tea). We also list 2 upstairs rooms (1 ensuite, 1 with separate bathroom) but this room allows complete social distancing. Jesmond is a leafy vibrant suburb full of bars and restaurants all within a few minutes walk.

The space
This house was completely revamped in 2016 and is warm, quiet and comfortable. It has won two awards for our builder. From the outside it looks like a little lodge, but is very bright and airy inside. We love living here, and we hope you will enjoy staying! For information in these (hopefully) post Covid times, the bedding is John Lewis cotton which is washed at 90 degrees. All the surfaces are wipeable and disinfected between guests. The ensuite shower room is also completely sanitised between bookings.

Jesmond is a quiet leafy suburb which also has a large student population so it offers both a vibrant bar life but also boasts upmarket restaurants and posh shops, (and Wylam Brewery with tap room!). Newcastle city centre is 2 stops on the metro with shops, galleries and museums, and the Theatre Royal, and the Sage Gateshead (5 stops) hosting an enormous range of musical events. Further afield is glorious countryside and coastline; Durham and its Cathedral (15 minutes on the train): Alnwick and its Castle (featured in the Harry Potter films) and Garden, about 45 minutes drive.

We are a semi retired couple who have hosted on airbnb since 2013 when we had a bigger house. We sold it and bought a wreck which we have rebuilt. It's won our builder a couple of awards and it's lovely to be in an all new home. We have three rooms listed now on Airbnb, although our preference in these post Covid times is to let our downstairs one, which is self contained and allows us to host more safely.

We like to travel and have had great stays in the US, The UK and Europe using Airbnb. Being hosts we know what it's like to be on the other side!
We enjoy good food,cinema and travel and like to stay with people with design backgrounds who share our interests.
