Wonderful attic in one of the most beautiful districts of Rome. Located in the Via del Pellegrino- Pilgrim's way from the route walked anciently by the pilgrims to get to St. Peter- this stunning penthouse features two amazing terraces for rewarding moments in the sky.
The apartment has everything required for an unforgettable stay in the "Eternal City": 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a wide living room, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 splendid terraces, 1 with sofa and 1 with dining table.
The house has been recently completely renewed and is very elegantly furnished. Rich with prestigious and sophisticated items and great artistic value pieces. The apartment is very quiet and elegant, noiseless, charming and comfortable.
The splendid location in the very neighboorhood of Campo de Fiori is what makes this accomodation an ideal place to know Rome and its beauties. At few steps from your front door the everyday open market will be the amazing starting point for exploring Rome just by foot. From here you won't need public transport at all, since all the interest sites of the city are at walking distance. And then after your wandering through the magnificient attractions and the historical relics it will be an incomparable pleasure to have your rest in the beautiful terraces.
How to get here from Fiumicino airport and Termini station:
- From Fiumicino airport: take the train FL1 that brings to Termini station (15€), and then the bus number 64 ("Piazza della Stazione di San Pietro" direction) until "Corso Vittorio Emanuele / Navona" stop (10 stops). Get off and continue on foot for 3 minutes.
- If you prefer, I can arrange a car for you from the airport to the apartment
The house is very elegant and well furnished.
We expect our guest love the accomodation and be careful with the items and the furnishments
We also kindly ask our guests to give water to the beautiful plants and flowers in the terrace. In case the guests are not like to do this, we'll agree a daily time to come to the apartment and do it ourselves
The apartment is tastefully appointed and very well located. It is very comfortable for two people; although there are two bedrooms and baths, it might feel a little tight for four. The two terraces are a major selling point. There are 84 steps to the top, but by the time we left they were getting easier and easier. Some people have complained about the noise; the Campo certainly is a hot spot at night, but we did not find noise a problem. For two people, the price was a little rich, but we would recommend this apartment.
We have been to Rome several times but this was our first time self-catering (although we've self-catered many times elsewhere in Italy). We chose this flat because it had those 3 ingredients vital for a good stay: location, outside space, & air-conditioning. The latter two were vital because our week was hot! The location is unbeatable, especially if you are new to Rome since you are right within the historic centre and most of the obligatory sights are within walking distance; it's lovely to stroll out after your evening meal and enjoy the Campo/Farnese and/or stroll over the Corso to the Navona or Rotunda.
We found Emiliano very responsive to our emails and got rapid answers to all of our queries. He arranged taxis to and from Fiumicino, which took much of the stress out of what was a family holiday with our two kids. The flat itself is very well-equipped for an Italian residence - it even had a kettle - something we've usually found lacking - so we were able to have our English tea. Importantly, kitchen knives were sharp (something we've also found lacking elsewhere) so cooking wasn't a problem, and the oven, hob etc all worked fine. Many Italian flats use rather old-fashioned demand boilers and this one is no different: when we had a problem getting hot-water, Emiliano responded very quickly, came 'round, and showed us the "trick" necessary to get it to work; all was fine.
As other reviews have noted, yes the flat is up a lot of stairs but that's the price you pay for having a top floor location (noone creaking around over your head) and great views from the terraces - Michelangelo's Farnese cornice is visible from the back terrace; we always rent top-floor. The flat is well-proportioned, the TV and wi-fi worked fine, and the air-con was very effective. The smaller bedroom does lack air-con, but can be cooled via the living room unit. Leaving windows open is risky because, as everywhere in Italy it seems, the mosquitos will enter and make a meal of you. There is a lot of hubbub on the terraces, especially at the front because it's just metres from Campo De'Fiori, but the double glazing is very effective so we were able to sleep fine once windows were closed and we were not disturbed. The vibrancy of this area is one of its main attractions so don't expect it to be quiet outside.
The only real downside for us was that the fabulous food market of 20 years ago has apparently degenerated into a tourist trap; there are as many stalls selling pretty pasta and souvenirs as there are local produce. For example, there used to be several fish stalls but these seem to have vanished? However, remember you are just minutes from Trastevere via Ponte Sisto - when we ate out or did a "big" food shop, we did it there...and the cafes are much cheaper.
All in all, highly recommended.
The apartment made the trip! I completely changed my normal visit to Rome by utilizing the two terraces and kitchen more than anticipated. Having the Campio del Fiori market at your doorstep inspires any cook. Lunch on the terrace with a view of Michaelangelo's cornice at the Farnesse palace on one side or the side facade of the first Renaissance building in Rome, the Chanceleria on the other was memorable and drew me back to the apartment to simply enjoy living in this magnificent city.
The privilege of staying in this beautiful and elegant apartment for two weeks was essential in making our time in Rome so extraordinary for us. It was an oasis and a delight on its own, but its location near Campo dei Fiori allowed us to move out from the neighborhood to explore the city and all its treasures, many of which were within easy walking distance. Even Trastevere was a short stroll over the Tiber.
We loved the taste and sensibility shown in every detail of this special place. The terraces were just lovely and the task of watering the generous plantings was a daily pleasure.
Emiliano couldn't have been more responsive and welcoming. He arranged for a car to take us to and from the airport and greeted us with wine and tasty pizza when we arrived. We had some difficulties with the SIM cards we got for our phones but the WiFi connection in the apartment was excellent and allowed us to stay connected.
I must mention the proximity of amazing restaurants right near the apartment - the joyous Osteria da Fortunata right next door (ask for the warm and welcoming Marco who never failed to say buona sera every time we went past), the excellent Grappolo d'Oro a stone's throw away, the fine Ditirambo across the street from Grappolo, and the superb Elle and Effe, a short block further away, which specializes in fresh seafood from Sicily and offers what we found to be the most outstanding food we had in the city. Each of these places was a treasure and they were all right outside our door.
For us booking this apartment through Airbnb allowed us to get some sense of what it is actually like to live in Rome, admittedly a luxurious version of daily life. Our stay was extraordinary and the memories we take with us, including the pair of raucous gulls raising their three offspring on a nearby roof, could only be as rich as they were because we chose to stay at this "Splendid Penthouse Rome City Center."
Highest rating. Thank you.
This is a lovely apartment with 2 balconies. No supplies were provided except toilet paper and 1 towel per person. There are 85 (yes I counted them) dark stone stairs to enter the apartment, and as a senior citizen I found them to be quite difficult to climb. The noise level from area bars is quite loud at night.
très bel appartement, terrasses très agréables et accueil charmant d'Emiliano , je reviendrai !
This is an amazing apartment. Everything worked, two beautiful sunny terraces, full of character, books and works of art. It is in the perfect place for site seeing, restaurants and shopping. We loved it. The stairs are quite a challenge but we soon got used to them.
