Master Bedroom with Private Bath -- all to yourselves! Best view in the city, while in the hottest neighborhoods of the city. Your DC experience will be fantastic.

The Space

Hello!

Master Bedroom with Private Bath is all yours here! The views are amazing with actual line of sight to the Washington Monument and the US Capitol. I'm in the hottest neighborhood in town -- 14th Street... But, also border Dupont and U Street. I have fantastic tree lined view of Meridian Hill Park directly out the window!

I hope you will agree with my past guests that this will be a fantastic stay and good deal for the price.

Large, spacious, sunny and light. The Master bedroom is totally private with enclosed bathroom.
What sets this listing apart is the brand new construction, and great privacy. My views from the room, living room, and including the awesome roof deck -- set this apart from other airbnb listings, and hotels. I hope the the pictures and reviews speak for themselves to let you know that you are welcome here and will have a very nice stay that has a level of relaxation, to make your stay a great one.

The bed is comfortable, Queen size, with plenty of closet and dresser drawers for space for luggage, gear, and stretching out. Easily sleeps two. The fantastic views of the room directly overlook the Washington Monument, and Capitol building - right out the bedroom windows.

Safety is a high ranker here, you will find secure access to the building and the elevators to the floor with the view. The neighborhood has a good track record, and is centrally located. Your stuff is always safe in the private room, and you can lock your bedroom door when leaving for the day if you prefer. I really strive to make sure that I can assist you having as much fun as you can around town and the neighborhood. I want you feel at ease knowing that your experience here will be fun and hassle free.

Another reason this is such a good value is that parking is provided if you have a car. If you're a free bird without a car -- the closest Metro is less than 10 minute walk, and Circulator bus, Zip car, and Bike Share are 5 minute walk. 14th St city busses run back and forth directly downtown. But walking is an easy way to go in this central location.

You will enjoy fully furnished comfort with fresh linens, towels, and central AC. And, when you throw in the view -- this is how a stay in DC should be defined. Your memory of visiting the Nations Capitol might fade, but your memory the stay here wont. It simply will rival a hotel penthouse stay.

New, modern kitchen fully equipped to cook at home if desired with dishwasher. Clothes Washer and Dryer in apt (another affordable bonus.)

Close to 3 metros. Green/Yellow line closest with easy 4 block walk. No need to transfer trains when traveling straight from National Airport or BWI / b30 bus. Or the 5a bus from Dulles Airport. National airport is a straight shot by metro.

  • James as a gracious host, and I loved staying in his Dupont/U Street apartment. (Not Columbia Heights). The bedroom provided the best view I've seen in Washington. Everything was clean and tidy, and I loved the deep tub in the bathroom. The pillows were really amazing too. I'm someone who prides himself on pillows, and these exceeded the bar. It was wonderful to fall into bed and slowly drift into slumber looking at the Washington Monument.

    The Location
The neighborhood is great, and is actually near where my DC place is. Very safe. It's a 10-minute walk from Dupont Circle, a 5 minute walk to Adams Morgan and is 3 blocks from the U Street Metro station. I'd argue it's perfectly located.

And one more thing on the neighborhood...
As an Airbnb host myself, I'm really keen on this whole neighborhood thing. This place is NOT in Columbia Heights. I have a place in Mount Pleasant that was at one point lumped into Columbia Heights. The Airbnb team needs to actually get on the ground here and learn about this city. The area is completely safe. But, being a city, the whole place is "gritty" in a way. But isn't that why people come to places like DC, NY, or LA?

Bottom line, James is a great host, the place is clean and comfortable, it's conveniently located to EVERYTHING and it has stunning views of the Washington DC skyline. You usually only get views like this from Virginia. And who wants to stay in Virginia?

  • James was super friendly and knew the area incredibly well. He was helpful and provided advice for those not familiar with the area. I'd totally stay at the same place and visit DC again.

  • James' home is a great place to headquarter for whatever brings you to Washington D.C. The location is terrific, safe, and the neighborhood is filled with interesting history. The accommodations are comfortable clean and James takes care to be sure you are well situated and takes time to show you around the complex. The roof deck is exciting to experience especially at night. James pointed out the park which I so enjoyed, listening to muscians and enjoying the waterfall.

James gave me suggestions for entertainment and followed though with text messages.

I really appreciate the time he took to chat and empart his knowledge of the city. I highly reccomend his home.

  • We only stayed at James' place a single night, but I would definitely recommend it! He's a great host, and showed us around the building. The room itself was great, and everything we needed was there (sheets, towels). The room also had a very nice seperate bathroom, so you have your privacy. This room is totally worth the price whether or not you're planning a short or extended stay in DC.

Also, the view from the rooftoop was absolutely stunning ((website hidden))

  • James is a cool and helpful host. He goes out of his way to describe all that is available and enquire about his guests' special needs. Our two bikes were quickly given a convenient place in the garage.

The home is just as advertized. Eating breakfast in the dining room with the double view of Washington on one side and Meridian Hill Park on the other makes a vacation so much more enjoyable.

    Highly recommended.

  • The room was comfortable and clean, and had a great view as advertised. The bikeshare and Metro station were both a short walk away, so my wife and I were able to get around D.C. easily without a car/cab from James' place. There are also plenty of good restaurants and bars within walking distance. My wife and I found this place to be a great value, and would likely stay there again.

  • Not even sure where to start with our fantastic experience with James. After leaving New York in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, James' beautiful, spacious, comfortable room and home in general was a breath of (warm) fresh air.

That doesn't really say it all though, because by far the best part of the experience was the host himself. Friendly, engaging and helpful, but most importantly, allowed us to tag along with he and his friends to witness history as we were in town for Election Day 2012. Whilst that was exciting enough in itself, being able to utilise the knowledge and resources of a generous local resident made it a joyous experience.

Thanks for the amazing memories, the help navigating your beautiful city, the fabulous nights of Nov 3 and Nov 6 and just for being an all around great guy.

On a nuts and bolts note, location is great as it is incredibly easy to access both bus and Metro lines, which get you to all the major destinations in no time. Having a bus route that leaves from the Mall and drops you at the top of the street is a welcome relief for traveller's feet! Also the view from the spectacular rooftop terrace is worth taking a beverage up there and soaking it in. I would've stayed up there longer if not for the chilly November air.

If you get the chance to stay with James, you're one lucky traveller.

  • Such a positive experience after trip issues related to Sandy! We arrived very late and had all James`s attention. The apartment corresponds to the listing, even more: we really appreciated the view from the window, the kindness of the host. Would definitely stay there when visiting DC.

    November 2012
  • The view is indeed super duper, from the bed room (leave the window open to experience the day transformed from beautiful morning to colorful city lights at night. Not to mention you could see DC monument from the room in a clear day) or 360degrees city view from the rooftop. You could cut through a nice garden to walk to the famous Adams Morgan for brunch at Tryst. James is a warm host who provides you with a very useful information to explore around town. We can't wait to come back soon.

  • This was our first experience staying through an airnb booking and we couldn't have been more favourably introduced to a warmer, more comfortable alternative to sterile hotel rooms. James was friendly, helpful and perceptive...able to provide the right balance of availability with privacy. He kindly accomodated our folding bikes and shared metro cards to ease our travels.
