  • We had a lovely stay with Sara and Matthew. They are excellent hosts, very welcoming and really look after you. We would definitely stay again!

  • Staying at Sara and Matthew's was our first experience of using Airbnb and we couldn't be happier, one word describes our stay with them 'perfect'. We were made to feel so welcome when we arrived and felt that nothing would be too much trouble if we asked. The room was beautiful with everything we needed, really clean and it was great that it was self-contained. The quality of the breakfast was better than we have had in many guest houses with lovely warm croissants, really good fresh coffee, yoghurts and fruit juice. The house is really well situated for long country walks without needing to use the car, driving further afield for more strenuous walks, sightseeing in the South lakes and shopping in Kendal. Sara and Matthew were really helpful throughout our stay with suggestions for walks and places to go. We will definitely be booking to stay with them again in the future.

  • Great hosts, great location and a lovely few days in Grange-over-Sands. Thanks Sara and Matthew!

  • We spent a lovely weekend at Sarah and Matthew’s in a lovely village and area surrounded by lakes and mountains. The room, with an independent entrance, is clean, comfy, cosy, and more than enough for a couple, with a powerful shower en-suite, tea/coffee facilities, cups, wine glasses and bottle opener. We didn’t have any internet connexion or phone signal, but it is perfect if you want to enjoy a rural, peaceful and romantic stay. And anyway, they let us a laptop with internet connexion for anything we needed to check. Breakfast was provided every day in the room, very nice coffee and warm croissants, with butter and jam, and the only noise or birds twitting, what else do you need to start the day?

The views from the garden are just amazing, a shame it wasn’t warm enough to stay outside! We also enjoy Grange-over-Sands. It has a nice “bay-walk”, some local pubs, small restaurants, cafes and shops. Enough if you are looking for a quiet evening after being in the lakes and buy some local products.

Matthew and Sarah are, like everything else around, lovely! Friendly and very helpful if you need them but you won’t realise you are living in their house if you don’t need them. We were told they could provide us with a cot, so we are pretty sure we will go back this autumn, this time as a small family!

  • My wife and I had a wonderful time staying with Sara and Matthew! We were brought breakfast each morning at a time of our choosing and I'm pretty sure the jam it came with was homemade (and delicious). Both Matthew and Sara were helpful during our stay suggesting various restaurants and walks nearby. We would definitely stay with them again!

  • I can't say enough good things about Sara and Matthew - they were amazing hosts. We were greeted like friends when we arrived and supplied with tea and freshly baked cake - what more can you ask for on a cold, rainy January afternoon? They brought us great coffee and croissants every morning, lent us a laptop so we could use the internet and listen to the radio, let us store our bikes with theirs, let me borrow a hair dryer as I was daft and had forgotten to bring mine, recommended good pubs and fab cycling routes (highly recommend the pheasant and taking your bike across windermere on the ferry). Just lovely people basically.

Their house is amazing - we had serious home envy. The room is adorable - comfy bed, cosy room, a kettle and a hot, powerful shower. Everything you need basically.

In case you didn't guess we pretty much loved it!

  • Sara and Matthew were great hosts - we arrived later than anticipated yet they made sure everything went smoothly when we arrived. The room was clean, cosy and equipped with everything you need for a short stay as shown in their pictures. The room also has its own entrance and we were able to park our car on the property. Matthew and Sara even gave us a laptop to use and recommended great spots to check out in the area. Breakfast was also provided on request (toast, fruit, yoghurt, plunger coffee). Also would like to mention that the shower was hot and water pressure strong (makes a difference after a cold day out). If we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay with Matthew and Sara again.

  • We loved our stay at Sarah and Matthew's. The view from their house is spectacular and they were great hosts. This is a great non-touristy place to base in the Lakes District.

  • Sara and Matthew's place is a cute and cosy en-suite room to the side of their house, with its own private entrance. Although they were not there when we stayed, we were greeted with a lovely welcome card and breakfast supplies! The view from the garden is amazing, especially in the mornings. They also provided lots of information about the local area, Sara had recommended a great pub for food - she was right! The only disappointing thing of our stay is that we didn't get to meet them.

  • Sara and Matthew are really nice people!
The room was very clean with everything you need including a laptop with internet access which was great.
Breakfast included in the price was really good.
They provided us with a map and gave us all the information to have a nice time in the national park.
Expect 20min drive to reach the most popular part of the Lake District though.
We really enjoyed our week-end and will do it again.
