The Space

There’s an Island expression “Home from Away” that perfectly captures the feeling of this apartment. It is set up for easy-care comfort with a gracious mix of contemporary furniture, island antiques and fine photography, Cook in the well equipped kitchen, enjoy the Island's bounty on the wipe-clean dining table, relax on the comfortable living room sofas. Two upstairs bedrooms (one king and one queen) share a renovated bathroom.

Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, was laid out according to the principals of the Enlightenment in the late 1700’s. The city planners established a rectangular grid of five hundred lots, which makes it very easy to find your way around town. These lots, including parks, waterfront, residential and commercial areas remain the core of the down town today, and 82 Sydney is in the midst of this culturally rich area. It is less than a five minute walk to the board walk, the waterfront park and the marina as well as the legislature, cinema, theaters, galleries, shops, dance classes, Victoria Row, the library, great book stores, a mall, most of the restaurants in the city, the Culinary Institute and a weekly Farmer’s Market. A ten minute walk brings you to the 100 acre amenity-filled Victoria Park, or the Charlottetown event grounds, and a half-hour drive brings you to some of the best beaches on the island. Rain or shine, there’s always something to do.

The core of the house @ 82 Sydney Street, framed with massive 5” thick vertical timbers, was built by a liquor merchant at about the time of Confederation. For some time the house belonged to a family with eleven children – all girls – so many islanders have memories of visiting, playing in the back yard, and pulling a home-made doughnut out of the crock in the pantry. Now three lovely apartments, it has been up-dated and added to over the years, but still retains many of its original features. The current owners, from Massachusetts, have been coming to the island for decades, and have chosen this as the perfect spot.

  • We spent a wonderful week at this apartment in downtown Charlottetown. Within walking distance to almost everything, we loved being able to walk to restaurants and other destinations in the city.
It was amazing to find a place with a king bed in one room, private parking, equipped kitchen, lots of towels, comfortable furniture and so much more. It had everything we needed including beach towels, chairs to take with us to watch the fireworks, kitchen supplies - we just added our adventures!
If you're looking for a place from which to explore Charlottetown and the whole island, this is a great spot.
Additionally, Rebecca was easy to access by email and quick to respond.
    Thanks for a great week!

  • We were absolutely delighted to be staying on historic Sydney Street in Charlottetown. We were so close to everything downtown. It was literally steps out the door to a morning coffee, a theatre performance, stores or an outdoor patio!

We were also in a good location for touring other spots on the island including north and south shore beaches, Anne of Green Gables etc.

The house was quaint and cottage like which suited us perfectly! The beds were comfy and Bonnie had everything cleaned and prepared for us upon arrival. There was ample parking for our rental car. Access to laundry was appreciated and the house was equipped with everything you might need.

Rebecca was great to arrange everything with and she eagerly provided us with suggestions for our itinerary. It was great to have her input with this being our first time to the island.

Our family of four was very comfortable in Rebecca and Richard's island home and would love to come again!

  • Rebecca and Richard's place in Charlottetown is a gem! It is in the ideal location to walk anywhere downtown, the wharf etc. As the title states, their place is gracious and comfortable (and so much more). It was easy to arrange to check in and check out. The space is fully equipped with laundry, kitchen, fan ... all the essentials.

  • I stayed at Rebecca and Richard's welcoming home along with three other family members. We were in Charlottetown for a cousin's wedding and it was perfect.

The place was clean and well - equipped. Both the washing machine and dryer worked well. The beds were comfortable and had enough pillows and blankets. The living room was also a relaxing place to hang out. We were able to park two cars at the back of the house.

We enjoyed walking around in the beautiful downtown area in which the house is situated. Great restaurants, shops and the waterfront are all within a few blocks away.

Rebecca responded quickly and clearly to my emails and Bonnie, who does the cleaning, made herself available too for questions
    ( we had none!).

I would heartily recommend this space.

  • Perfect location for enjoying Charlottetown! Walking distance to everything. Super cute house. Surprisingly spacious. Beautiful artwork. Comfortable beds. Cheaper and much more pleasant than a hotel. There is a park right across the street! We would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a romantic weekend here and Rebecca was very gracious and communicative. Great location and a nice vibe. There are stairs in the apartment, not sure if that was mentioned, just good to know if you have little ones or mobility issues. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
