Lorraine is a very welcoming host with a nice home located in a safe area of London. The village of Barnes has many buses that take you to Hammersmith metro where you can go anywhere you want. There are also many good restaurants and walking paths around town. I walked back at night several times and felt safe. This was my first Airbnb experience so I didn't know what to expect, but Lorraine made me feel at home with a cup of tea and she gave me directions to get oriented to the area. The room is small but it was fine for my needs. Just as a tip for taller people, if you are more than 6 feet tall your feet may hang off the bed. I am 5'10" so I was okay, but just be aware if you are taller. Thanks for a great time Lorraine, would love to stay at your place again if I am ever back in London!
Lorraine is the absolute best host you could ever meet on airbnb! She is fascinating, well travelled, and curious about everything which makes conversing with her lovely!
I arrived very late (almost midnight!!) and she waited for me and welcomed me readily! During my one week stay, I was staying in the room that is on the pic (you get what you see, and I did not need more than this comfy bed and nice space to organize my clothes) and she made time to drive me around Barnes village, we went to the beautiful Richmond park together, ate some authentic Pakistani food, and drank at a pub with the cutest view! I was just so grateful for her beautiful company. She made my vacation time that much more enjoyable and I recommend staying there if only for her energy!
The place is located at a 10-15 min bus ride form the metro only, but I liked walking so much and it took me 25 minutes by foot. Then it's super practical as it deserves different tube lines so that you can get anywhere very easily. Cutest little village with everything you need at a 10 minute walk, and I like jogging so it was the perfect spot as it was calm and full of green!
BIG BONUS: I did not travel light and this wonderful host even offered me to drive me to the train station, had no price. What a generous heart this woman has, I was truly touched.
Wishing you a great stay with Lorrain in London!
This is the second time I have stayed at Lorraines house and she is still the perfect host. She generously shares everything of interest about everything you want to know about, like transportations, history and also personal things about her exciting life. At the same time she is sensitive enough to understand when you need time by yourself. I will definitely stay here again if I go back to London!
I had a lovely stay at Lorraine's. She is a very welcoming host and always up for a chat, though she certainly respects your privacy. She is a true local and seems to know everything and everyone in Barnes. The room was very cosy and clean, as was the private bathroom downstairs. The area is ideal if you're looking for a place that is close to west London, yet quiet and safe. I would definitely stay with Lorraine again!
I loved staying in Lorraines house! The room was clean, cosy and had a nice view overlooking Lorraines beautiful garden. Lorraine was so sweet and kind and took her time to chat, offered tea, coffee and wine and also let me alone after I had a busy day at work. I will definitely come back!
The room was really nice, quiet and neat.
Lorraine was also nice to me offering a tea and wine.
The view from the room was also nice because I could see her garden from the room.
There were also some booklets for travelling London.
It was really helpful to travel around London.
If I had a chance to go to London again, I would definitely visit her again. :)
