The space
Göte's cottage is located in the middle of Lapland and gives you a chance to live as in the past.
You fetch drinking water from the lake and wash yourself in the wood-fired sauna.
There is an outdoor toilet with separation function, behind the cottage.
Lighting is powered by solar cells and LED lights, convenient and easy.

Find peace and quiet in the beautiful nature. Disconnect wifi and plug in the connection to nature instead.
It is high season all year round, so you choose which season attracts you the most.

Both sauna and cottage have balconies with fantastic views of the small forest lake.
There are tables and chairs, perfect for dinner or just sitting down and enjoying the view.

In the vicinity around Göte's cottage there are several small streams that flow together with Råne Älv.
It is one of Sweden's pristine rivers with good fishing for grayling, salmon, pike and perch.
The area also belongs to Natura 2000.

The proximity to Muddus National Park, which is part of the Laponia World Heritage Site, makes Göte's cottage a good starting point for wilderness experiences.
The distance to Muddus is only 30 km from the cottage.

MORE ABOUT THE NICE COTTAGE
The cast iron stove is wood-fired and provides comfortable warmth even when the snowstorm is dizzy outside the cottage. Cozy lighting in the cottage you get from lamps powered by solar cells.

The food is cooked over a gas stove and there is a gas refrigerator that keeps food cold during the summer.
In winter, food can be placed outdoors in the intended refrigerator, which acts as a natural refrigerator.
There is also a charcoal grill, for those who like to grill. Bring charcoal or buy at the local grocery store in the village.

SAUNAN
The sauna is wood-fired and has a water tank of 20 liters, where the water is heated while you fire in the stove. Here you wash yourself in hot water in washing bowls and enjoy the hot steam.
The sauna is located right by the lake so it is nice with a quick dip to then warm up in the sauna again.
In the winter, it's really refreshing to roll in the snow! If you dare .. :-)
A sauna bath cleanses both body and soul.
Incredibly relaxing!

Tip! Take the opportunity to bring hot water to the counter inside the cottage, after the sauna bath is completed.

SLEEPS
There is a bedroom with a bunk bed and grandpa's old kitchen sofa, which is the most cozy place to sleep!
In total there are 5 comfortable beds where duvet, pillows and bed linen as well as towel are included in the price.

OUTDOOR TASK and WOODEN STORAGE
The outdoor toilet has a cozy interior and has urine separation with two different containers.
Urine is discharged via a hose to a stone coffin outside the building. The poop down in the rear container, which is composted.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toast in the back container after the visit.
NOTE! Not in the front urine section, there will be a total stop then.

THE ENVIRONMENT
We try to recycle as much as possible of old things and furniture.
All rubbish and leftover food is sorted at source and recycled. Vessels are available both inside the cottage and at the outdoor shed / woodshed.

The food waste is composted and turned into soil for growing potatoes, kale, broad beans and turnips, among other things.

We use nature-friendly cleaning agents, dish brushes made of natural materials and washable dishcloths.
The "plastic bags" are compostable.

THE WATER IN THE LAKE
It is possible to use the seawater as drinking water. Anyone who wishes can get tap water in 10 liter cans instead.
It is very important not to contaminate the lake by, for example, washing your hair with shampoo or throwing it in the wash water.
You throw the dish water into the stone coffin, which is located to the right of the outdoor toilet.

Cycles and recycling permeate the atmosphere in Göte's cottage and much is preserved in its original condition from the time when the cottage was built.

Wood shed, outdoor toilet and source sorting are in the same building a few meters behind the cottage.

COVID-19
We really want to try to do everything we can to reduce the spread of covid-19.
Health is important for both our guests and ourselves.
We therefore perform cleaning and sanitation of the cottage, sauna and outdoor toilet according to a 5-step cleaning process designed by Airbnb.
Certified cleaners and disinfectants are used for this purpose.

EXTRA LUXURY STAY IN THE COTTAGE
- Washing machine and freezer box can be rented in the landlord's home, if you stay longer.
Laundry: 80 SEK per wash
Freezer: 80 SEK per day.

- The diesel stove provides even heat in the cottage throughout the day. This can be rented for a fee of 150 SEK per day.

Other things to note
1. During heavy snowstorms wintertime, it can be difficult to reach the cottage by car on certain days due to too much snow. The road will be cleaned but it can take a day or two.
Alternative transport by snowmobile, skis or on foot may be relevant.

2. We think ecologically and environmentally friendly and want to use nature's resources in the best way.
Therefore, some amenities in the cottage are not available during the winter period November-April:

- In winter, gas oil cooling is not used- Food is stored outside on the bridge in a wooden box with a lid, in natural cooling.

- There is a movable charcoal grill (ball grill) to place outside the cottage, for barbecues. Do not use on balconies or indoors.

-In winter, guests should use the cottage's lighting sparingly. Do not have all the lights on at the same time.
The lighting is powered by solar cells and it is limited with sun and daylight during November-February.
However, we always have a spare battery to connect in case the battery runs out.

PHENOMENON OF NATURE
Take part in Lapland's strong natural phenomenon from Göte's cottage. All year round, there are special seasons worth experiencing, both summer and winter.

Summer:
Here you live just north of the Arctic Circle in the land of the midnight sun with bright, glorious summer nights, which sparkle with wildlife.
It's a great feeling with these bright summer nights, which give a lot of energy!

During the berry season July to September, there are vitamin-rich berries to pick right behind the cottage. Here you can find blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries and cranberries.

Walk freely in the forest or along the path near the cottage, which leads you to the village's terrain course. Tours on the forest mountains near the cottage give you both views and close contact with nature.

Winter:
During the dark hours of midwinter, you can enjoy the northern lights dancing across the sky. You always stand and look at the northern lights, even though you have seen it all your life.
When the weather is clear, it's worth staying out to get this chance. It's just as amazing every time!

It is also a very special feeling to see the light of the full moon casting magical shadows over the landscape. It gets so bright that you can read a newspaper.
On winter evenings when the sky is clear and cloudless, you can see an incredible starry sky.
There are no disturbing lights from cities or street lights around Göte's cottage, so the starry sky really opens up.
Magical, mysterious and mythical.

In the vicinity around the cottage there are several small streams that flow together with Råne Älv. It is one of Sweden's pristine rivers with good fishing for grayling, salmon, pike and perch.

The area also belongs to Natura 2000. The proximity to Muddus National Park, which is part of the Laponia World Heritage Area, makes Göte's cottage a good starting point for wilderness experiences.

The distance to Muddus is only 30 km, where you will find several different habitat types and terrain variations as well as a rich wildlife.
