Casa Dharma was in a gorgeous location. We liked being in a gated compound and loved the doggies. Unfortunately our host, Patricia, was out of town, so we didn't get to meet her. Her daughter, Christina, was there, however, and was very helpful in finding us a spa and letting us use the computer to make hotel reservations.
The grounds were kept very clean. The gardener comes 3 times a week. The interior, however, while adequate, is in need of a deep cleaning. If you don't mind staying in your son's dorm room, it won't bother you.
Casa Dharma is spacious and homey, in a lovely and quiet compound, and Patricia is enormously gracious. My friend and I (email hidden), headed back out for dinner and managed to misplace our keys, so had to disturb her after 11, but she took it in stride. We may not have discovered this gorgeous neighborhood with its beautiful Parque Juarez, if not staying at Casa Dharma. The one drawback, in December, is lack of heat. But we spent very little daytime "at home." There are space heaters, and once we mastered warming up the bedrooms, we were fine. For most of the year I suspect this is not a problem. Enjoy!
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Dharma, it is a beautiful apartment with great furnishings. The only down side to our stay was the cold and rainy weather but we made the most of our time in San Miguel.
Patricia was a good host, she helped us get a propane heater going to keep us from being too cold. It was also a nice touch to provide drinking water and fresh fruit.
We would love to come back in the future, in the warmer months.
Casa Dharma was wonderfully positioned 10-15min walk from the centre of town. The place was quiet and secluded and had a great roof terrace that looked out over the town. Plenty of information provided, and Patricia was always on hand to help if there was anything we needed.
One word to describe casa dharma, it would be spacious! The rooms are ample and cutely decorated with an Indian and Mexican vibe. The entire compound is surrounded by trees which makes it feel as if you were up in a tree house. The heavy vegetation is lovely but may lend to the home feeling a bit chilly as not much sunlight reaches it during the day. However we did stay during the chillier month of the year (December). The 4th floor terrace has a wonderful view of the city and should definitely be taken advantage of!
We loved Casa Dharma. Very comfortable. home-like and filled with character. The neighborhood is beautiful and a 10 minute walk to El Jardin. The view from the roof is spectacular. Host Patricia made sure we had everything we needed.
Bring good walking shoes. The surrounding streets are all cobblestone.
Patricia is an awesome hostess. She had excellent communication with us from the start. Everything is clearly indicated. House is great, PLENTY of room. Mexican, artsy eclectic decor. She was sure to call us to make sure our transporation from the airport to San Miguel was inline. Her assistant was personally there to greet us. They were extremely hands on on with us and we had no problems. Plenty of info to help guide us. Wi-fi is a tremendous help while there - don't hesitate to bring your I-(website hidden), iron, microwave...all perfect working. Notebook of info on desk for guests. Taxi's readily available if you don't like walking. Casa Dharma was about a mile from the Jardin. Definately in a private & quiet peaceful setting. Definately a place we plan on returning to. Large & clean accomodations for an amazing price. Loved it all !!
Charming apt. in a nice neighborhood near a large park, walking distance to center of town. restaurants, shops and etc. Best feature is the rootop view accessible from the stairs on the side of the building. We happened to be there when there was construction on the property which was noisy during the day.
A beautiful space in a secluded, yet convenient, part of town. An ideal retreat free of tourist trappings, made even better by the two friendly house dogs. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again should I return to San Miguel de Allende. Thanks, Patricia!
