The space

This is an elegant one-bedroom home on the mesa, about ten minutes from downtown Taos. There is no exterior landscaping but the interior is a work of art: floor to ceiling windows, hand-plastered walls, hand-made cabinets and doors etc. There's a king sized bed in the bedroom plus built in drawers and a closet. Cozy propane stove. Writing nook overlooks Taos Mountain. Very private and quiet. No pets, perfume, or smoking allowed - the house is safe for chemically sensitive people (like me). $115 per night, $690 per week plus $60 cleaning fee. Discounts available for longer stays up to two months. For one week stays or longer, there's a $150 damage deposit. This is a great place to write, paint, meditate, or contemplate your life. I have a small interesting library of books. The host lives across the road and is available for questions or help. The house is located on a quiet rural road with a few other houses nearby. The space is intentionally not cluttered. As of May 2017, there's a brand new in-wall air conditioner/ heater as well as a comfy new couch.

Interaction with guests

I live in Boulder Colorado most of the time but my host lives just across the road and is available for questions, directions, emergencies, and general information. I'm also available if necessary by text, cell, or email.

I spent a month at the casita which has spectacular views and beautiful interior design. As a writer, the desk with a view of Taos mountain was truly inspiring. I enjoyed many beautiful walks and sunsets here. The casita is clean, comfortable and a nice quiet place to read and write. It has been one of my best Airbnb experiences!

Great authentic Southwestern / New Mexico style home. Many many custom touches throughout the home like authentic wall colors and design elements. Plus a strong internet service avsilsble. Open comfy great room but cozy ... you won't feel cramped here. 360-degree views and stars at night like you've never seen before. Host was amazing and available to us whenever we needed her. So we plan to stay there again soon.

This is an amazingly beautiful space. It is on the mesa and thus has spectacular views of the mountains. There is little to do on the outside of the house (although you can go for nice runs/walks along the country roads), but the inside is, as another reviewer put it, a work of art. The furnishings, colors, and general decor are aesthetically pleasing. They allow you to really relax. Check-in was simple, as was check-out. Jeanne's flexibility in terms of timing really worked for us. The place was spotless. We are a couple and the space is perfect for two. We would definitely return.

24 hour views!!! Really, we were spellbound by Taos Mountain and the surroundings by day and the bright constellations of the night sky. Location is just out from town enough to feel isolated but only 5-10 minutes to all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Full kitchen (no microwave) allowed us to just relax and enjoy the scenery...didn't have to go out. Great library and basic TV. Bed is very large and firm. Down blankets kept us warm under large windows. Interior designs are uniquely beautiful. Gas stove kept us warm in winter Only complaint was the lack of soft, comfy furniture--futon not most accommodating and only other LR seating was rocker. But that shouldn't keep you from enjoying this special home with best views in Taos!

My stay at Jeanne's home was more wonderful than I could have predicted from the listing! From the setting to the calming interior, it was an ideal place to retreat and also explore the Taos area. Highly recommend this experience!

The casita was truly a perfect experience. I took my girlfriend here for a birthday celebration and she couldn't been more impressed. The huge windows in the living room and bedroom provide breathtaking viewpoints looking over Taos and the mountains behind it. We watched the massive thunderstorms swoop across the mountains and the lightshow was breathtaking. The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore Taos and the surrounding area, you are a quick 10 minutes from the gorge bridge, 15 minutes from the Earthships, it was quick (and beautiful) drive 10 minutes to Taos, and a straight shot to the ski valley. The property was easy to find, the kitchen was stocked with more than just the necessities, and our host was helpful but still gave us space to enjoy our time there. I will certainly return here if i have the chance because the price matched the promise.
