Mason was extremely responsive and welcoming - he left us some treats and invited us to pick the ripe blackberries behind the house (which we gladly did!). The house and property are both truly magical and we found it to be even more beautiful and inviting than the pictures presented. We had plans to spend more time sightseeing, but ended up enjoying staying around the house much more than expected - swimming in the pond, catching frogs, bouncing on the trampoline, wandering around the property, watching nature all around us, reading, and napping. It was the perfect getaway for a family that lives in a city and provided a much-needed reset and recharge. For those with younger children, I would just note the property is not kiddie-proofed (the loft and stairs going up have no railings, the front porch also has no railing) so you have to watch your kids well and explain to them what is safe/not safe. With that said, we had no trouble at all staying here with our 3 year-old and hope to return in the future!

This is a most unique and wonderful place. A spacious post and beam construction, it is filled with playful surprises (fern prints in the concrete decking, a selection of whimsical hats, a piano, turntable, masks, bird feeders in almost every window, many interesting books...), and it is located high upon a mountain surrounded by clouds, trees and wildlife. We loved hearing owls hooting to each other this morning, watching a doe and her fawn across the way, and just sitting by the beautiful ponds. The photographs are an accurate representation of the space. Should we travel again to the area, we shall see if it is available.

We've stayed at Mason's before, and it really can't be described. Your own pond, meadows, vistas, trampoline, and a swing in the house. We love it.

Mason's house was very secluded and calm, with a beautiful outlook. As promised, it was full of toys. It was a peaceful place to come back to during Dartmouth Commencement weekend! We loved seeing birds all around, and walking up to the meadow. We might have enjoyed it even more if the weather had been better as it was lovely sitting outside. We appreciated being able to make our own breakfasts but the kitchen was small and somewhat minimally equipped.

We loved our stay at Mason's place! The house and the area was very unique. We had the most relaxing and wonderful time. This is not the kind of place you run into often. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay in Mason's cabin. The landscape is beautiful and there is privacy galore. The cabin and grounds are full of fun things to encourage grownup and child play-- a swing, trampolines, funny hats, etc. A few things: dishcloth in kitchen would be helpful, for instance. There was a peculiar smell to the bathrobes and towels-- not sure if it is an odd kind of soap or what, but both my husband and I found it unpleasant. We ended up coming in at night, and it was challenging finding the place. It was not Mason's fault since we'd told him we'd arrive in the afternoon, but it was stressful for awhile as it's hard to find in the dark. We also struggled with the wood stove, which basically became a smoky mess. There weren't instructions-- if we weren't supposed to use it, we should have been told, and if we were welcome to use it, then instructions would have been helpful. Overall we had a good experience-- the grounds especially are lovely for walking. We saw deer several times, and down the road we saw an owl!

Response from Mason:
thank you for raising scent concerns about the towels and robes, i too had reservations about my latest detergent. it has been replaced with a new variety, hopefully providing scents of clean and fresh. unfortunately you must have missed the info that airbnb sends out. there are detailed directions to help find the home, including a daytime recommendation. (you are the first folks in 4 years to have any trouble locating the property). also in said guidelines are strict instructions NOT to use the wood burning stove... alas.
