become immersed in this magical sanctuary cradled in a vermont forest. bathed in light with the full tranquility of nature. rejuvenating, comfortable and glorious. sorry, NO pets. minutes to Dartmouth, yet fully private and quiet. great for kids too!

The space

12 minute drive to Dartmouth, this 130 acre piece of land proves itself a bastion of tranquility. very very private. vaulted ceilings, great light, one bed room (plus a loft with a futon, couch and comfy sleeping) allows up to 4 to sleep rather soundly. although, due to only one full bath more than 4 may become a bit challenging. a gorgeous pond perfect for swimming and lounging about watching nature in all its glory. magical trails to breath taking scenic vistas... it is all yours!!!
kid friendly, no TV (but there is a movie system if desperate). piano, trampoline, as well as other fun stuff.
truly a stunning location.

Mason's place is in the middle of 100 acres next to two ponds. It is wonderful sanctuary where you regularly see deer and even a bear once in a while. The place is secluded but you can get to the main street of Norwich in 15 minutes. I highly recommend the place if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place to enjoy nature in Vermont.

We stayed here over Dartmouth commencement weekend and definitely recommend this spot. A little isolated but still close to Dartmouth college (10-15 mins drive) and general store. Thank you, Mason!

We loved the natural beauty of the grounds and the quirky charm of the home.

Mason was extremely responsive and welcoming - he left us some treats and invited us to pick the ripe blackberries behind the house (which we gladly did!). The house and property are both truly magical and we found it to be even more beautiful and inviting than the pictures presented. We had plans to spend more time sightseeing, but ended up enjoying staying around the house much more than expected - swimming in the pond, catching frogs, bouncing on the trampoline, wandering around the property, watching nature all around us, reading, and napping. It was the perfect getaway for a family that lives in a city and provided a much-needed reset and recharge. For those with younger children, I would just note the property is not kiddie-proofed (the loft and stairs going up have no railings, the front porch also has no railing) so you have to watch your kids well and explain to them what is safe/not safe. With that said, we had no trouble at all staying here with our 3 year-old and hope to return in the future!

This is a most unique and wonderful place. A spacious post and beam construction, it is filled with playful surprises (fern prints in the concrete decking, a selection of whimsical hats, a piano, turntable, masks, bird feeders in almost every window, many interesting books...), and it is located high upon a mountain surrounded by clouds, trees and wildlife. We loved hearing owls hooting to each other this morning, watching a doe and her fawn across the way, and just sitting by the beautiful ponds. The photographs are an accurate representation of the space. Should we travel again to the area, we shall see if it is available.

We've stayed at Mason's before, and it really can't be described. Your own pond, meadows, vistas, trampoline, and a swing in the house. We love it.

Mason's house was very secluded and calm, with a beautiful outlook. As promised, it was full of toys. It was a peaceful place to come back to during Dartmouth Commencement weekend! We loved seeing birds all around, and walking up to the meadow. We might have enjoyed it even more if the weather had been better as it was lovely sitting outside. We appreciated being able to make our own breakfasts but the kitchen was small and somewhat minimally equipped.
